The Grove

http://Wilthe3rd.smugmug.com/photos/51971064-M.jpg

Okay…it was so Disney…so sweet and clean and perfect and all that stuff I hate…so Disney. But you know…I loved it. It was warm and there were tons of people to see and watch. Farmers Market was great and we saw several level “B” stars (you have seen them before but don’t know their names. Panoramas at the end of the pics from the Grove’s Parking Garage…a Class A photo vantage point.

Beautiful pics! Can anyone tell me what that mid-rise castle looking building is on the left part of this picture? It looks like its in the Century City area or Westwood.

I think you are referring to the Park Hyatt hotel which is in Century City. The other tall building next to it is the Fox Tower which Bruce Willis destroyed in "Die Hard". President Regan used to maintain his retirement offices in that building as well.

By the way, how did you find the 'House of Davids"? That's a pretty obscure attraction.

After viewing those photos why was The Grove and places like 3rd St Promenade and Hollywood and Highland not built with on site residency? This is really a rhetorical question that doesn't need answering. I know it is just backward ass planning.

Nice house but tacky white iron fence with countless statues of Davids.

House of Davids?

That's what we call it. Its a shame you didn't catch it a couple of weeks later. The owner decorates it for Christmas by putting Santa Claus caps on all the statues. Very Jolly.

New buildings on the third street promenade are built with on site residency. The other buildings were there before the promenade was built. As for the Grove, there is a considerable amount of high density housing being built just across third street. Can't speak for H/H.

However, its purposly built not to have pedestrian access to the street. The Park labrea complex is a "gated" community, and there are very few exits on 3rd. I have only seen a couple people actually walk to the grove.

That's a shame. By the way I know the guy who owns "The House Of David" and it is tacky and so is he.

Hello guys, need your help. Im coming over LA (yahooooo!) on the last week of January from a training in Texas. Im planning to drop by San Diego. Can anybody suggest what better mode of public of transport to take (except by air because Im not going to bring my credit card with me, this is my first time to travel outside my country, Im wondrin if paying over the counter is possible? hehe... and are the flights not fully booked most of the time?) is their a rail which connects the two cities? If bus is the only way to get there can anybody suggest a more detailed way pls.........

I've taken the Amtrak from SD up to LA's Union Station. It's a very nice ride and is pretty scenic. It took 2 1/2 hours or so. http://www.amtrak.com/servlet/ContentServer?pagename=Amtrak/HomePage
From Union Station you are then able to connect to a vast rail system and bus network, so it's really up to you where you would like to stay. I'd say stay close to the rail lines for easy access to Hollywood, Pasadena and Long Beach.
