This seems to be a very good designed supertall! I like it, I love the glass.

The reason I dont like this tower is because it looks like a jigsaw puzzle.

There's nothing wrong with irregular design when all flows together well, as that is certainly the case here. I'll take it over a box anyday.

Yeap, both are designed by SOM :)

This is one of dropped design for same building. It's also very nice, but maybe not as good as the chosen one. Hope it can be built somewhere else in Nanjing.

Looks similar to the Trump Tower in Chicago but i like this design more.

I think that the spire actually fits in the design very nicely! Which isnt always the case... A good looking building, isnt exactly breaking new ground in architecture, but it looks really nice... :cheers:

Cuwaulla, what I want to know is what will the 10 tallest buildings in the world diagram will look like in 6 years time. I mean this monster is only two metres shy of now almost 3rd tallest building in the world, the Petronas towers which will soon be overtaken by SWFC and ICC thus making it the fifth tallest if you count the BD. I've also noticed NYC's ESB will be thrown out of the top ten tallest soon if it hasn't already.

Um Quick Question??? This building(to me) almost kinda sorta looks like trump tower in chicago. would this one look better there. I think this one looks better but iono if it would fit in chicago.

I think the building has a good design. I don't know if its better than the Trump Tower, but I agree this probably wouldn't fit in in Chicago. The top of the building is just weird.

far more than 16, 30 or so.

current height is approx 30 floors + 5 more in core=35 or 160m.
#height to first typical office floor (after that plant room is about 64m or equal to 16 floors). so current height is approx 160m.

The no. of floors was changed from 69 to 88, but I have no idea about the height. However, I don't think it should be taller now, after seeing the renders I think they just made the spire much shorter adding floors. In the first renders the spire looked 1/4 of the building or so.

thanks jeans jeans. i only estimated heights for my diagram from models and photos. good to see an accurate dagram. looking at diagram elevation. i count only 70 floors.?
core is currently at mechinical floor noi2 which contains lev36/37 which is 173m high.

Maybe the floors beyond 71st floor will be closed to public. You know Jin Mao officially has 88 floors, but if you include technical floors under the pinacle it has 93.

i dont think uninhabitable floors/levels can be included in count. from 71-90 doesnt look like inhabitable? so i would say this tower has 70 floors. not 90.
just like Burj Dubai. it has 162 inhabitable and another 30 uninhabitable floors above this which are not allowed to be included in overall count.

floor is floor. if habitable or not. i think these top floors should be counted, the same on BD

Anyway, are you sure they are not habitable?

great shots. intresting to note that current tallest in nanjing is new century plaza - 212m roof/ 255m spire. Greenland square will nearly double its height. i dont think the people of nanjing know what there in for.

It's amazing what difference 10 years makes. Ten years ago, the Petronas Towers were being built, almost exactly the same height as this one and also with a spire and the "whole world" (that is to say, people from Chicago) was in an uproar over it and talking and discussing it and wondering if it really could be called the tallest and being amazed that a new tallest building was coming up after so long. If this were being built then instead, it would have that affect, and yet ten short years later, hardly anyone besides enthusiasts have heard of this.

you are right i surpose people are only interestest in the tallest thats going up. even though this would have made the headlines ten years ago. its just superseeded nowadays.

in 1995 this tower would be the tallest on earth...now you've to stack the Fernsehturm in Berlin on it
