Is it an offshoot of Megabus?

They are both owned by the same parent company - Stagecoach.

Its a cheap version of stagecoach run mainly on the ultra-busy South Machester corridors designed to undercut the oppositions prices and drive them out of business giving stagecoach a monopoly.
Stagecoach have done similar things in the past including running free services until the opposition goes bust. Stagecoach run 'full fare' services along this route too effictively running as an express service from Stockport/Didsbury as they dont stop at Followfield/rusholme very often due to the high proportion of students living there who get MagicBus or a local firm (UK North/Finglands etc..)

Forgot to add hkskyline, these buses came from HongKong.
For anyone that cares, they also have three axles which is unusual for a double -decker but allows for around 100 passengers at a time inc standing.

costs just £2 a week for unlimited travel between the city centre and south manchester as far out as didsbury! :eek2:

having said that, its the same price for the two main competitors, Uk north and finglands. as stated before, stagecoach buses are more expensive although, cleaner, faster, newer and emptier.

You often see the three-axled tourist double deckers going around London.

There was that old joke about the Magic Bus being banned from going through the less salubrious districts of south Manchester such as Wythenshawe and Benchill cos the drivers were always stoned. :D

For a comprehensive description of what is magic bus, you need to turn to The Who.

Every day I get in the queue (Too much, Magic Bus)
To get on the bus that takes me to you (Too much, Magic Bus)
I'm so nervous, I just sit and smile (Too much, Magic Bus)
You house is only another mile (Too much, Magic Bus)

Thank you, driver, for getting me here (Too much, Magic Bus)
You'll be an inspector, have no fear (Too much, Magic Bus)
I don't want to cause no fuss (Too much, Magic Bus)
But can I buy your Magic Bus? (Too much, Magic Bus)

Nooooooooo!

I don't care how much I pay (Too much, Magic Bus)
I wanna drive my bus to my baby each day (Too much, Magic Bus)
I want it, I want it, I want it, I want it ... (You can't have it!)
Thruppence and sixpence every day
Just to drive to my baby
Thruppence and sixpence each day
'Cause I drive my baby every way

Magic Bus, Magic Bus, Magic Bus ...

I said, now I've got my Magic Bus (Too much, Magic Bus)
I said, now I've got my Magic Bus (Too much, Magic Bus)
I drive my baby every way (Too much, Magic Bus)
Each time I go a different way (Too much, Magic Bus)

I want it, i want it, I want it, I want it ...

Every day you'll see the dust (Too much, Magic Bus)
As I drive my baby in my Magic Bus (Too much, Magic Bus)

I thought they were from Kenya.

And the 3 axled ones are enormous, even seen one turning one of the many tight corners in Manchester city centre? Mental!

The Magic Bus was never meant to run in Wythenshawe anyway. They were bought for the student run, Didsbury to Town. Stagecoach are fuckers since they've got on that line because they terminate the majority of their services at Didsbury instead of carrying on down Didsbury Road to stockport like all good 42 services should do.

The Wilmslow Road corridor is a fucking joke. It really needs sorting out. It's a lot harder to get to stockport than it used to be.

Hey, don't I know it?? Too bloody right. I've lost count of the number of times I've been stranded at East Didsbury just cos the fucking 42s all choose to terminate there with only 1 out of every, say, 10 of the bleeders carrying on to Stockport. And to make things worse they NEVER run to time - they're always up to 10 minutes late. The worst time is after about 9pm in the evening they stop running altogether to Stockport and ALL terminate at East Didsbury UCI cinema complex. So how the fuck do I get back from the Uni after seeing a gig or whatever? The only way is to head into the city centre and catch the all night 192 service - so that means going northwards just to travel southwards again - fucking pathetic isn't it?

I know that I could always take the 23 (Chorlton/Trafford Centre) instead to continue my journey - but given the choice why should I have to keep changing fucking buses just to get from A to B in what should be a perfectly straightforward route from Stockport to the City via the university anyway? It IS a fucking pain in the arse as sometimes I actually just forget about getting the bus altogether and walk the 3 miles back to my house in Stocky - and this sometimes I can do quicker than the frigging bus (only takes me about half an hour) especially during the rush hour when the 42 gets caught up in the notorious tailbacks the whole length of that A5145 road stretching all the way towards that godawful pyramid junction (1) with the M60. :bash:

The 23's a joke mate, I wouldn't eve rbother getting that. It is a omplete shitter though, the only reliable way of getting to Stockport is the 192 and you're fucked for getting that if you live in Withington area.

These buses were bought from the UK originally, served in HK, and now have made it back home since the HK bus fleet is eliminating non-air-conditioned buses.
