that rendering of state life tower was posted on this forum more then 2 years ago, i cant belive they just started construction now. but its good news i guess, i thought it was shelved.

it seemspathetic.....y in pakistan there is no any good looking building coming...cant uderstad...these ppls spend millions for building but cant spend for good design

I agree i don't like the design of this building.... i'll even go on to say i hate it.

I dont feel anything towards the design which must mean it sucks!

Design lacks coherence. The glassy floors should be redesigned.

While a few details should be changed, I like the feel of the building... It feels really inviting, and open. The floor may be a little much, but I suspect they will change it a bit.. I find a lot of projects in Pakistan end up with changes when they are completed or am I wrong... For all we know that first design may not even be the final one..

It's an alright building... not every building under construction has to be mind-blowing and amazing... every city has its share of mediocre buildings. Its not ugly, thats the main point.

You know, for all its worth, sometimes I think the buildings going up in places like Dubai are just as mediocre, despite all the hype... I mean, its all a matter of how you look at it, some will love it, some will not. Problem in Pak in Islamabad is that you can count on one hand the number of highrises going up, so a single mediocre or less then steller design tends to stand out that much more.

Plus with that much glass, imagine how much they save on heating!!! :) :)

Im not too worried about this one. Pakistani renders usually turn out to be much worse than the actual building.

I can guess it will take around 2-3 yrz till its fully opened for use.....
usually the construction work is completed in 1.5yrs time of a 22 storey building but it takes more time to finish with the interior.

State Life Insurance Corporation of Pakistan has awarded the Architecture and Planning Division, Karachi, project management and construction supervision of the State Life Tower at Blue Area, Islamabad.

The building consists of two-level basement, ground floor and sixteen upper floors. The project cost is Rs. 478 million

i mentioned earlier 22 floors.....at the time of its launching it wuz suppose to be the tallest building in isloo, with 22 floors, and now the floors have been reduced to 16!!!
I wish they had changed the design aswell!! Anyways now let c how this project will finally come out like.....

The construction of the state life tower seems really slow...towers announced later like the Stock exchange already have cranes in place ready to build. Some one should also cover the DHA Gold Crest Towers, i here they have already built upto 15 stories and work their is progressing at a fast pace.

Now my crtics about the render...

The problem lies more with the render that the overall masses and proportions of the building. The building model has been exposed to too much of light making it more white, although the facade is more of a reddish colour. This has always been a challenge generating a 'render'. Looking at the glass, green glass, it is to much transparent, in daylight it should have been more reflective rather than being transparent. The model has been made hollow from inside, as a result of which we can see colums and beams inside, a hollow building in reality, it cannot be. This render was made back in 2002-03, or even earlier, at that time there was very little usage of electrical graphical medium and not many professionals were even exposed to such softwares even. Spare the render and wait till the project gets completed. Im sure it will turn out better than it looks!

Sohail & Pasha are the designer of PIA Building in Blue Area, National Art Gallery and many other prestigous projects. In their practice, they have amalagmated the local cultural terminolgy with modern era architectural style. Similar to the practice of designing Lahore Airport, Prime Minister Secretariat etc

in my words..the problem with this render is more than the light exposure.

The ugliness comes from the stepped approach and that hideous looking facade. The color combination just added insult to injury.

Maybe they have changed the design. And from the render I can't see what the materials will be.

Yes i forgot to add that point in my critics. The finishing material is not clear,looks like an emulsion but I think it would either be brick (gutka) or red sandstone. Now that we hafto wait till the project gets completed! lolz

Someone needs to blow up this building! It should be done, keeping entertainment in the point of view. Just like in action movies. So that you can see the different pieces flying etc. Who doesn't like that?! It would look so cool!

Same here! I've never liked the current State Life Building, neither do I like the U/C one! :no: State Life's building's throughout Pakistan aren't that great either!

We used to call it bad because there were lots of good buildings coming up like centaurus, grand hyatt, Platinum, Mubarak Center....

but 'ab to andho main kaana raja lagaiga' because most other projects have slowed down as a result of the recession.

the pace of construction is not that fast as that is on Telecom tower but it will be good to see it complete

there is no construction going on at the momemt.. atleast nothing was going on between 3/4 days of my stay there... no labor no work.....

Guys i just saw a similar structure being built in Toronto it had the same design, it looked pretty good, the only diffrent was that buliding was abt 40 floors.

well its not complete yet. i think it'll look nice once the cladding work is finished.. sure it'll not look as awesome as ISE or telecom tower but it has a unique design. i like it.

they should put the glass to black/gray color and building to dark brown. perhaps this is the only way to make it feel better.

they are going at full speed. Have almost completed 13th floor. were working on roof of 13th. dozens of workers were on top floor
