I browsed around the websites a bit and Im pretty sure it's the same building.

First of all the websites are showing pretty much identical construction photos.

Secondly, here are maps showing the locations on the 2 websites:

internationaltower.ir:
http://www.internationaltower.ir/pictures/local_01.jpg

tehrantower54.com:
http://i1.tinypic.com/ngem0x.jpg

same location.

Then in the render on tehrantower54, the asp buildings are visible in the background:

http://i1.tinypic.com/mhbjep.jpg

The asp towers:

http://i1.tinypic.com/ngejxj.jpg

The construction of the international tower behind the asp towers, like the renders on tower54.com:

http://i1.tinypic.com/mhaxbq.jpg

See, it's the same, eh?

The tower is 54 floors maybe the original name was Tehran tower54 and then they changed it to international tower when they decided to go with a concrete facade instead of glass. :sleepy:

shugs
March 19th, 2007, 12:57 AM
Yeah or a small country estate!

If you look at the price lists you'll see they're mostly sold out as well :uh:

That is a shit load of money... And as Tehran's make up is the higher the altitude i.e. up the foot of the mountains the more expensive/wealthy.... The International Tower is not THAT far 'uptown' in Tehran at all to justify high prices simply down to neighborhood/positioning... Just down to sheer quality of the accommodation...

Hands down this project has turned out much better than I expected even with the non-creative design of the exterior... Guess it's what inside that counts..!

I wonder what the services look like, like the facilities, hall ways, elevators etc...

Persan
March 19th, 2007, 05:57 PM

I agree with Persan with the curtains and sofa tho...

The other chairs are nice... Compared to Iranian furniture that u can get which is not Louis XIII style it's really nice IMO. Bare in mind the Iranian furniture design has been predominantly Lous XIII style until very recently they have branched out to a more modern look...

Persan
March 19th, 2007, 07:19 PM
...Yeah, my mom's house is decked-out in Louis XIII! I don't know why Iranians love it so much! It's so... 1970s! Oh, I guess that explains it - Time stopped still in 1979 for a lot of Iranians. LOL!

shugs
March 19th, 2007, 08:21 PM
IMO it is because of the connections with the French in the Qajar era :)

mahdial_x5
March 19th, 2007, 10:53 PM
man shugs i have to agree with you about this project 100%

my father just came back, and he said that the whole projects is 'said' to have been built and designed by japanese

lol speaking of qajar, my father actually brought a coin for me back to canada, which he found about 25 years ago along with his dad

the coin dates to 1135 iranian years

 250 years ago....Zand dynasty i think... is that right shugs?

Persan
March 20th, 2007, 01:41 AM
Oh! Being designed by the Japanese is a mixed blessing: Structurally it would be sound, and visually it should be nice on the outside.

On the inside however, it's another matter.

Having lived in Japan and visited numerous homes and hotels in this country, I can tell you that Japanese people don't know how to properly design Western-style interiors. There's always something "wrong"/"aghab-moondeh" about their interior decorations.

shugs
March 20th, 2007, 02:35 AM
^ LOL.. Well the international tower is indeed boring on the outside but it has the height to compensate...

Mahdi, Yeh sounds like the Zand Dynasty who were around from 1757 - 1794... If it was any earlier it would have been the Afsharid Dynasty (:Nader Shah)... You would know by the monarch on it.. Karim Khan?

mahdial_x5
March 20th, 2007, 03:22 AM
^^on the coin it says actually, 'Saheb GHeran' something, and i was thinking maybe that was reffered to the Qajar dynasty, no? , and on on the other side it says

"La illaha Illalah Muhammada an Raasullilah" and has all the names of the 12 imams on the outside of it...all round in a circle-likle formation...?

its cool!

thanks for the info shugs and to you as well Persan for the Japanese enlightenment ;)...aghab moondeh, really??

However it doesn't matter if it looks as if it's from the 60's. Sears Tower in Chicago looks cool and it's from 1973/74. The important thing is to design it well.

It looks like those cheap 60s building that are now being demolished around the world to make space for new buildings. It just a bigger version. Iranians have a large percent of well educated and experienced engineers and architects. The only plus point of this building is its high, besides that there not much to be proud of. Iran / Iranians can do much better.

I agree with Persan and Rahmani's comments about the 60's/70's style buildings in Tehran's skyline. It wouldn't be so bad if they were actually designed and built in those decades, but to erect such a thing in this day and age is just bad taste.

The gaudy interiors are epidemic all throughout the Middle East. The Iranian interiors still fare better than Egypt, Syria or Abu Dhabi at least. Too much gold and clutter.

This building's base is similar to the Burj Dubai, the 'desert flower' or architect's scale ruler.

That's the problem with most people in Tehran. They don't know any better because they haven't travelled abroad. I think Dubai looks ridiculous too - Very nouveau riche - but they're trying to put their city on the map. What is the government of Iran doing? The total opposite!

I think Tehran needs architecture that's true to it's Iranian roots, but also modern.

Omid_Sultani

I think Tehran needs these buildings too. It will make Tehran look more diverse, the 50's buildings that never were built are beeing built. It's nothing wrong with that building, so what if it looks like it's from the 50's. I think there should be different types of buildings. This is a great building and very masculine looking. ;)

It doesn't look much 70's too me, it looks older.

^^ Well, I would say that's a good basis for a bigger cluster. Would be really amazing to have some more 200m+ towers standing there almost next to the Milad Tower and in front of the giant mountains!

Interior designers are Rahemi nejad & another Iranian interior designer which i don't remember.
So definitely its not japenese, but i doubt if this showroom has anything to do with any of those designers.its just glossy, sparkling.no sense of design!
the building facade is very dirty itself, even before it was being finished.it looked so old to me.when i saw it if a few month back.
About the prices.I have no idea how some people would spend that much money on this thing!IMO they just don't know how to spend their money.

we have very very good designers in Iran but when it comes to construction the poorest results we got.
absolutely nothing remarkable.except personal projects done for some minor intellectual clients.
like ave gallery or so.

How many of the people in here complaining about the design are actually engineers? I think the tower looks great, I like 1970s and 1980s look. Simple and good look. Not like those ridiculous buildings in Dubai (Disneyland of architecture).
Actually, i believe it was designed by engineers-not Architects-

1970's & 1980's are golden decades for music & love stories, not for architecture.

well,regarding disney land of architecture....
Have you ever been in disneyland or Dubai?
