Roark January 28th, 2006, 08:07 AM So i went downtown today to go see Cirque Du Soleil's Varekai--snapped some pics of Ten Museum Park, Marina Blue and 900 biscayne + some other pics.Excellent! That is the downtown life! Whoever said invest in Ocala and Gainsville, may or may not make money, but if you are investing in Downtown Miami, Cirque Du Soleil will be right accross the street!!!
I'm going to the show tomorrow. My girl and I can't wait!
Does anyone know when the Cirque du Soleil traveling show is going to stop off in Ocala or Gainsville?
BornInTheGrove January 28th, 2006, 08:20 AM The show was [freaking] AWESOME. Funny and really entertaining. This show, Varekai, is on a North American Tour. The four cities on the tour that i saw posted around the circus was Miami, Portland, Seattle and Vancouver.
Good lookin' out Chuck =)

logybogy January 28th, 2006, 11:45 PM Or you can look at it another way roark..
With the amount of money you will be saving by leaving Miami's high cost of living by living in Ocala/Gainesville, you'll be able to fly out to Vegas 4 times each year and see all 4 Circu De Solei shows there (Mystère, O, Zumanity, KA) and gamble and do any number of other things you can't do anywhere in Florida. Zumanity is absolutely incredible. Go see it in Vegas next time you are there if you haven't. Highly recommended.
If all you care about is making money, Ocala has a better risk/reward dynamic for me now than Miami. Obviously, if lifestyle/urban issues are of a concern, Miami wins hands down.
But as Jim Cramer says on CNBC.......I aint about making friends, I'm about making money! And I think Ocala is the way to go to make money in real estate in the next few years.
I bought property in Sunny Isles Beach in 1999 and Ocala during the past year and have done extremely well on both. My stock portfolio heavily concentrated in emerging markets has been going gangbusters the last few years. So my way of making money has been working for me.
But if you want to make your money in Miami roark, I wish you the best of luck. Just don't forget about the benefits of diversification.

Im falling into Logys group. I live about 60 miles from the twin cities, have way lower cost of living, make as much as I would there and I go there when I want to. I have the best of all worlds. I dont want to invest in anything there execpt an occasional hotel room and events. We went last year to see The Lion King (fantastic, go see it if you can) and Circu De Solei and your right it is amazing. It was here the year before as well and I imagine it will be here again someday and we will go again. I will keep my money in small town St Peter..after all there seems to be big move from the cities this way and I got in on the ground floor. Also I wouldnt fly to vegas, its no place for a family or a non smoker, the place stunk.
DGM January 29th, 2006, 10:34 AM I have been looking at houses in Gainesville for the past few weeks. 90% of them suck ass. The good ones are far from campus (UF). The ones close to campus (usually in the student ghetto) always have something wrong with them (like having the clothes washing machine and drier outside). Im going with an apartment next semester.

I Live in Gainesville Place which is nice but they are raising rents next year...All Paradigm properties (99% of the apartment complexes in G-ville) are going to see rate hikes...they have a monopoly on the market and we need to push the city and UF to do something about it...
logybogy January 30th, 2006, 01:17 AM That's because students trash all the housing near campus and don't care what the condition is like. They live like fucking rabbits.
But lots of mommies and daddies of rich south florida kids buy their kids condos in the student ghetto and it's a great deal for them.
For example, if they buy their kid a $150,000 condo (they were going for $70k 5 years ago), they are getting some very nice capital appreciation of up to 20% a year, they are saving their kids from paying rent that increases yearly, and they are pretty much paying for the mortgage cause if they buy a 3 bedroom, the kid lives in one bedroom and rents out the other 2 bedrooms to their friends who end up paying all or most of the mortgage.
The nicer housing is away from campus near Haile Plantation in the SW part of town and west of 75 around Jonesville also the area around Thornbrook Village is very nice.
The problem is you won't be on direct bus routes to UF, so you'll have to drive and then park and ride a bus or try to find street parking on University Avenue somewhere across the street from campus every day.
Parking is a gigantic pain in the ass at UF. I went there for undergrad and also got my MBA at UF and know firsthand how shitty the situation was.
The Mad Hatter!! January 30th, 2006, 02:16 AM guys this isn't the g-ville forum!

I spent much of the day choosing between Gainesville Place and University Club. I think Im going with University Club. Gainesville Place has the ammenities of a resort hotel but is really dirty and has bad visitor parking. Oh and the construction was a huge turn off. Did you know that Paradigm just acquired Royal Village? They now own all of the best apartment complexes for partying.
Rx727sfl2002 January 30th, 2006, 03:47 AM THIS ISNT THE GAINSVILLE FORUM
DGM January 30th, 2006, 04:38 AM Ok, my bad. I just thought it was weird that Toucano lives in the place that I spent most of the afternoon looking at. Shoulda pmed him instead. :(

Its also callled the Miami forum, should we not talk about Broward, Palm Beach or Keys Development here either?
Now, go ahead and PM me if you have any non-miami questions to not start a forum riot...
Back to Park west...
Rx727sfl2002 January 30th, 2006, 05:31 PM no its not the broward or keywest or westpalm beach forum
your taking the trhead off topic when you go talking about something else that isnt relative to the original thread.
so no please keep your comments about other places in other threads...
unless you are relating some specific comparison between maimi and gainesville then thats ok but when you go off topic talking about how gainesville just got its first toys r us store then no.... absolutly do not post that here....

I tried to make a roudamentry image of what it would look like in the future, using the 7th image (Ten Museum from the front) as an example.

Comment. Discuss. Most importantly, Enjoy!
Toucano January 31st, 2006, 05:22 AM nice job Born...
Miaminole January 31st, 2006, 05:31 AM I think 10 Museum is on the 37 floor. Still going. And Marina blue is on 32.
900Biscayneguy January 31st, 2006, 05:40 AM I have been watching marina blue's construction progress through the web cam. Today they started on the 33rd floor. There is no 13th floor so you have to subtract one. According to the sales info, the residential units start on the 16th floor (the section that is just above that large space). So I counted up and I count 33 floors. Does any one knoe how many floors 10 museum park is?
