jozblade January 28th, 2006, 07:23 PM Thought it would be a good idea for everyone to post a little about themselves and why they have an interest in what is happening in Sheffield.
Im nearly 16, and have always had a keen interest in Sheffield, which has been furthered by me supporting Sheffields best football club - United:p I am from Rotherham and find the place terrible, so me and my friends spend alot of time in Sheffield watching football etc. as it is class.
However, i am also interested with the building projects that are ongoing and proposed for Sheffield. When i leave school i hope to go to uni and get a degree in architecture. I have drawn numerous buildings(skyscraper/mid rise) and would post them on here to get feedback if i had a scanner. :)
S.Yorks Capital January 28th, 2006, 07:41 PM well im just turned 17 and live near central sheffield. I am a proud Sheffielder and pleased that after many years of decline and bad repuation it is slowly on the way up. I like to come on this website to find out more on sheffield devolpments and to spread good word to the unknown or the haters.
Accura4Matalan January 28th, 2006, 07:45 PM I'm Accura
I am 17 and I live in Sheffield.
eighty4 January 28th, 2006, 07:56 PM Im nearly 22, i went backpacking in 2004 (australia new zealand fiji thailand and malaysia) and was away for a total of 14 months and was shocked with the level of development when i came back to sheffield, ive been interested in it since i came back.
Im in the process of trying to sell my car at the moment so i can go to new zealand again, so it will be intereting to see what will have been done when i come back from there
Bladerunner January 28th, 2006, 08:16 PM Gosh - this site is populated by mere kids!
I'm 40, originally from Sheffield. Lived in many places, have an apartment in Copenhagen, but now in Baltimore. Journalist, Blades fan, into scrapers and stadium architechtire. In the near future I plan to ride to NY on back roads on my 50cc scooter.
Wednesday January 30th, 2006, 05:12 PM Carrying on with the kids theme....
I'm 17, origionally from Handsworth, now live in Mosborough. Also a proud Sheffielder and completely obsessed with Sheffield Wednesday. I'm at Castle College at the moment but next year going to Sheffield Uni (hopefully)
AndrewC January 30th, 2006, 05:19 PM I'm Andrew, 20yrs young ;), I'm a planning student at Sheffield Hallam and I ike to pretend I know what i'm talking about when it comes to Sheffield.
jazz-sheff January 30th, 2006, 10:13 PM Im 20, studying economics at newcastle uni. Born and bred sheffielder, wednesday fan, henderson's relish fan, pulp fan.
hella good January 30th, 2006, 10:50 PM im almost 17, im studying media at north notts college- worksop. but thats just for a little break from the norm. im going to study architecture at uni. ill probably go to sheffield uni. does anyone know if its good?
skyfitsboy January 30th, 2006, 11:09 PM Crikey everyone on here is so young lol!
I'm 29 and currently work within a Government department in Sheffield, originally from Chesterfield, but moved to Sheffield 8 years ago because I liked it so much, it just feels like home.
Its only the past 2-3 years that I have developed an interest in urban regeneration of cities. Always been fascinated by skyscrapers though and mega-structures.
Think one of the first thing I ever draw as a kid was the Manhattan skyline he he!
atc367squadron January 30th, 2006, 11:31 PM I'm 18 and from Heeley in Sheffield. Been to college and finished but never fancied Uni although town planning sounds a good course!! I love the city I live in and i want to find out every development that goes on. I'm so nosey lol!
unners January 30th, 2006, 11:35 PM Looks like i the only one in their 30's!33 to be exact.
I work for Siemens dealing with problems that arise with ATM machines.
I have been interested in the development of Sheffield ever since the construction of Meadowhall and the World Student Games facilities.I can not see a time when i would want to move away from this fine city of ours.
Truefitt January 31st, 2006, 01:09 AM with all these 17 year olds I do feel old, well im 18 anyway, 19 in March, Im from Loughborough, but im at Hallam in my first year, I am always intrested in buildings and things like that and did once to be a arcutect (but it was boring) so now im doing food marketing at Uni. im currently living at Exchange works (ye its rubbish) op. gatecrasher.
I guess I joined because I wanted to add my comments to the forum and i always like forums.
sony January 31st, 2006, 06:20 PM I'm nearing 23 and I'm very surprised that most people on here are younger than me!! I was born in Sheffield, but my parents moved to France when I was two. I came back here on my own like a big boy when I was 16. I'm still here and I'm here to stay permanently.
I've always loved Sheffield, used to come here every couple of years when I lived in France and as a teenager was fascinated by Meadowhall. God, I find it a right nightmare now!
Even when I came here at 16 Sheffield was still pretty basic. Its amazing what's changed in a few years. And there is much more to come!!
dinp January 31st, 2006, 06:37 PM I'm 22 and in my third year of a Master in Planning at Hallam. Its been interesting to learn about Sheffield's past which is why i'm interested in its future. I've been into planning since I was a youngster, only realising when I was 18 that you could do this kind of thing for a living, so that's the plan.
And unlike Andrew, I DO know what i'm talking about :tongue2:
larven January 31st, 2006, 06:55 PM Im 30 and work for an architectural practice based in Sheffield. I am actively involved in many projects in and around Sheffield including several mid rises in the city centre. Early on in my career I was part of the design team for the infamous Chesham House which for a while looked as if it would become Sheffields tallest building and the first to exceed 100m in the city. I'm also very good at renders and have produced images for all types of buildings from houses to 500m skyscrapers. I worked with Gothic extensively to produce the images in the future skylines database on skyscrapernews.com.
My interest in architecture and design stems from living in Hong Kong for 6 years as a child where I became fascinated by skyscrapers having seen the construction of such giants as the Bank of China and Central Plaza. :)
Wendigo Wendigo June 8th, 2007, 12:17 AM I've just come across this while trawling through all the dead threads, and can't help feeling it needs reviving. It's like one of those school group photos but with words. Maybe it's just me but it's just so sweet.
hella good June 8th, 2007, 12:20 AM wow, it really has been a while when i look back at my last post on here i can see how things have changed. Im now 18 and going to hallam in september to study architecture :)
paulmat June 8th, 2007, 12:25 AM Lol. May aswell introdduce myself then. ;)
I'm 18, and doing my A-Level's now (only 21 day's left!!!). Next year, i'm gonna be an Engineer with a design company in Rovvrum, then i'm off to Leeds to do an architectural engineering course. Think I got interested in architecture etc. when I found out Sheffield was getting it's own skyscraper (City Lofts). Love Sheffield and everything to do with it, andd it's great to see it finally getting the attention it deserves.
jozblade June 8th, 2007, 12:29 AM Im 17 now and doing my A levels.

OranjeS3 June 8th, 2007, 12:46 AM Blimey!
Well I'm 28, a PE teacher in Sheffield. Always had an interest in architecture and design and was going to pursue this career until I turned 17 and 'had an epiphany'.
soupçon June 8th, 2007, 12:59 AM Blimey!

Is that like a euphonium?
OranjeS3 June 8th, 2007, 01:06 AM Maybe! You could check it out on www.brass-forum.co.uk Check out Les Neish's blog :)
soupçon June 8th, 2007, 01:06 AM We did a few introductions at the start of the Skybar thread last year as well if (new) people are interested.
Wendigo Wendigo June 8th, 2007, 01:09 AM Maybe! You could check it out on www.brass-forum.co.uk Check out Les Neish's blog :)
My God, that's a fantastic website. The hours must just fly by on that.
OranjeS3 June 8th, 2007, 01:12 AM Did you note the section on Euphonium history? Excellent read that
Wendigo Wendigo June 8th, 2007, 01:14 AM Did you note the section on Euphonium history? Excellent read that
I was too busy worrying about Les Neish's chops.
OranjeS3 June 8th, 2007, 01:18 AM They are quite special! Rosy to the point of perfection, also rather large.
Wendigo Wendigo June 8th, 2007, 01:19 AM Have you seen the trumpet-playing robot on that site? That's just plain creepy.
tom85 June 8th, 2007, 04:31 AM Hi i'm Tom Sheffield Born and bred well Stocksbridge anyway love the city seeing it develop is a real passion of mine. Currently at Newcastle University studying Economics finished my second year today!! Wahoo!! cant wait to get back to Sheffield just one year to go!!
SheffCity June 8th, 2007, 08:29 AM I'm Keith, 30 and Sheffield born and bred. Work as an IT Manager in Sheffield centre.
Always had an interest in achitecture - wanted to be an architect when I was at school (oh so long ago) but was talked out of it by an incompetant careers teacher. Would still love to do this, but have resigned myself to not being able to. Rubbish careers teachers have a lot to answer for!
Andymarsden1 June 8th, 2007, 10:11 AM ..
Wendigo Wendigo June 8th, 2007, 11:15 AM ...
SheffCity June 8th, 2007, 12:14 PM When I told my careers officer I wanted to be an artist, he told me I should forget it and said I should get a job in a steelworks. When I pointed out that all the steelworks were shutting down, it didn't seem to register with him at all. I later found out he'd told all the other boys in my class exactly the same thing.
Oh, and he told all the girls they should be nurses.
My other career choice was pilot - he told me that I should forget that idea as I wore glasses and no one would ever be a pilot wearing glasses!! I was young and didn't know better so gave up on that too, but now know that to be utter rubbish!
jozblade June 8th, 2007, 12:31 PM I didnt see one as such.
Its called Connexions now, and in my opinion they are a waste of time too. I went to see them last year and they didnt help what so ever. They seemed more interested in trying to get me to go their offices and find stuff out there, rather than at school/sixth form.
Mattski June 8th, 2007, 12:35 PM Careers teachers were idiots at school it's true. But it could have been worse; at my school some fuckwit had the bright idea that the best way to encourage a supportive and nurturing learning environment was to ask all the kids to write down what they thought their classmates would be doing in 10 years time i.e. when we would be early twenties. Obviously, I wasn't considered to have much potential as most of my classmates said I would be in prison. Yeah, thanks for that.
And to think i've worked in education for the last seven years! Oh the irony.
Rachael June 8th, 2007, 01:28 PM Lol. May aswell introdduce myself then. ;)
I'm 18, and doing my A-Level's now
:eek2:
Jeeez I thought you were in ya late 20s. Wise head on young shoulders indeed!
I'm 21, possibly the only female on here and from Sheffield. Just finished my 3rd year at Sheffield Hallam doing Human Geography. Always had some sort of interest in Regeneration and love being able to tell visitors to Sheffield Hallam whats changing around the city when taking campus tours etc for Student and Academic Services.
hella good June 8th, 2007, 01:43 PM Its good to have a girl around :)
human geograpghy is an unusual subject (and by that i mean you dont hear of it often) i would imagine that sheffield is a great place to study it with the amount of stuff going on
Rachael June 8th, 2007, 01:47 PM Yeh, alas we haven't done alot on Sheffield since my first year.
Mainly been other countries developments over years. Trying to find jobs in regeneration now though :(
PaulP June 8th, 2007, 02:27 PM Not seen this thread before... I'm 36.5, a lecturer at Hallam (nothing to do with builings/architecture), live in SW Sheffield. Born and grew up in Barnsley and moved to Sheffield in 1998. I love Yorkshire and its people.
Truefitt June 8th, 2007, 02:40 PM Well its been a while since I last posted, im Michael and im 20, im from Loughborough but I go to Sheffield Hallam (Just finished my 2nd year doing a food course) and soon I will be moving to Lincolnshire to start my years placement, then ill be back at Hallam next year for my final year.
gothicform June 8th, 2007, 03:42 PM my name's james. i made this place, i also own skyscrapernews, and write for a million magazines you read without you realising it's me. im 30 and live in lincolnshire.
Bladerunner June 8th, 2007, 03:53 PM Great website, James. A bunch of nice people seem to gather here.
I'm 42, a journalist, currently in New York but originally from Sheffield.
gothicform June 8th, 2007, 04:11 PM are you freelance bladerunner?
Bladerunner June 8th, 2007, 04:31 PM Yes, I am. I'd love to write about architechture someday too - no expert though.
gothicform June 8th, 2007, 04:33 PM ahhh ok :) well if you ever want someone to interview or whatnot drop me a line. i was in the new york times about five months ago. heh.
Damon June 8th, 2007, 04:47 PM Great website, James. A bunch of nice people seem to gather here.
I'm 42, a journalist, currently in New York but originally from Sheffield.
Get in! I'm 40 today, and was about to start coming on like the oldest git around, helped on by the cheap cava that folks at my work have just poured down my neck.
I do this, that and the other. I used to do it in Sheffield, now I do it in Manchester, and I live in Liverpool. I am Will Alsop's northern supercity personified.
gothicform June 8th, 2007, 04:49 PM youre a big contrived blob full of shit with motorways running through you?
Damon June 8th, 2007, 04:55 PM It's often been said!
Damon June 8th, 2007, 04:57 PM Fuck, that was post 666 - must post again to avoid being possessed by Beelzebub.
Wendigo Wendigo June 8th, 2007, 05:00 PM Bit reluctant to blow my cover but I revived this thread so I suppose I'd better enter into its spirit. I've spent time hanging around in graphic design studios, pretending to be useful. For a short spell in the 90s, I was a mural designer for the council - though budget constraints, and the total disorganistion of the people in charge, meant none of the murals ever got done. Currently I'm a writer. I've had a couple of novels published by a large publishing house, along with a bunch of short stories under various pseudonyms and, as part of my life-long ambition to write for Dr Who, I'm trying to break into radio as a stepping stone into TV. This in mind, I currently have a radio play in the hands of a producer who's hoping to sell it to the Beeb when their buying window reopens in the Autumn.

Well, I must say, this forum is full of extremely interesting people. :)
clogginchris June 8th, 2007, 07:17 PM Wow, I hadn't realised that many people who post such mature and interesting comments are so young!
I think I'm going to take the prize for the oldest so far - over 50 (only just!), female, work at the University. Heavily involved in design of the Information Commons - that's originally why I came to this site. Been in Sheffield over 30 years so it feels like home!
paulmat June 8th, 2007, 07:54 PM Looks like Racheal's not the only female on here then.
Well done with the IC cloggingchris. It's excellent. :)
Rachael June 8th, 2007, 08:13 PM Hurrah, I'm not alone yaaaay!
and yes Paul, it is most certainly a compliment.
arepeejee June 8th, 2007, 09:57 PM Hello!
I don't post all too often, well, I do, but I don't at the same time. But I do read everything! I'm Rob and I work at Sheffield Hallam in e-learning. I'm also 21, if that makes any difference. But, as some of the younger posters have shocked us with, age doesn't mean much here!
rotherowl June 8th, 2007, 10:22 PM Hi I'm 34 and I'm so stupid that i've been in the air force for the last 12 yrs. I'm currently working as an engine tech on the Tristar a/c that flies all the army out to all the shitholes in the Gulf. This forum is my main outlet for keeping in touch with how all the projects are progressing when I am not at home for which I thank you all.
soupçon June 8th, 2007, 11:50 PM Im Andrew Ford-Marsden, im 19 nearly 20 and i've just left Sheffield Hallam with a HND in building Studies. I will be starting the 4 year Masters in Planning Course at Sheffield Uni in september. I currently live down Eccy road, but im moving to Central Quay in a few weeks. Im originally from Nottingham which is one of the shitest cities to live in, crap developments such as the new market square which is just a load of grey slabs and a crap water feature. Im quite confident that i will stay in sheffield for a while now! I nearly put down a deposit for city lofts on the 21st floor but decided against it as i was in the process of swapping uni's.
Anyone up for a meet up and a pint some time?
Andrew

VaastuShastra June 9th, 2007, 02:07 AM Im 21, born and lived in Sheffield my entire life.
I mainly follow the India section here on SSC, because its interesting watching an economy rise so fast, and im an Indophile.
But I dont think ill live anywhere else, I love this city. Its finally progressing toward the sort of modern city I want it to be.
Unisol June 9th, 2007, 10:08 AM Better late than never.
Hi, i'm Andy.
I'm a native Sheffielder of 37 years and am MD of a large commercial landscaping company. Originally a family company formed almost 30 years ago, we have grown and developed into a well respected and highly professional company.
Enough of that anyhows!
I'm here out of interest in all things construction and a burning passion for the ongoing development of the city. Phoenix from the ashes and all that.
Great site James. Keep up the good work!
muddycoffee June 10th, 2007, 08:40 PM I'm also 37.
My real name is steve and I grew up in Hillsborough.
When I was 19 I was doing electronics at Sheffield Poly, ( Now Hallam ) and I have lived in the south of sheffield ever since.
I work in an IT company as engineering manager and I have always been interested in my home city, it's history, it's buildings and its people. I have qualifications in electronics, electrical, and microprosessor engineering and for the last few years I have studied foreign language at night school, because it interests me.
I am a musician and have been in loads of local bands, none of which you will ever have heard of. I have also been making websites for nearly 10 years and this has got me into a certain amount of trouble/noteriety, leading me to being interviewed on the radio several times, I've been sent books to review and had articles published in school text books that I made up when drunk! I have also been mentioned in several newspapers including the times..
I'll have to say I'm impressed how young some of the regular posters are, I imagined that they were older.
Doom June 10th, 2007, 08:49 PM I'm 40 and was born in Grenoside but now live in High Green with my better half.
I take an interest in this site partly because of my profession (I'm a Quantity Surveyor), but also as a proud Sheffielder I like to see what new developments are taking place in my city.
I'm a part time Sheffield United supporter and a full time Sheffield Steelers supporter.
I also like the odd  on a night out in Sheffield :)
Regards
Doom

MDC June 10th, 2007, 09:40 PM Didn't notice this thread before otherwise I would've introduced myself ages ago. Anyway, hi to everyone - my name is Phil and I'm 36, at first I thought I was going to be the oldest on here but am much relieved not to be. As a few have already said I was going to be an architect but it never worked out alas. I am a born Sheffielder, live in Sheffield and am mainly interested in this because it is the welfare of the city I "care" about. I'm also one of those strange folk who like to see both United and Wednesday do well, but mainly the Blades.
Gunner3 June 11th, 2007, 02:41 PM Can't remember if i've already introduced myself on here, but here goes.
I'm 24 and i came to Sheffield to do Physics at the uni in 2001, finished my MPhys in 2005 and stayed on in sunny Sheffield to do my PhD, which i am about halfway through. Currently live in Norfolk Park (Views!) but am moving back to studentsville (Crookes) in a couple of weeks. I've always had a fascination with engineering and the steel industry, and Sheffield is a great place to go and look at random big stuff.
Ben
Starslight June 11th, 2007, 08:29 PM Hi. I'm Gareth, aged 21 and used to study in Sheffield. Then life all went a bit wrong and now I'm living in rural Suffolk driving forklifts for a living (quite a jump from a decent degree in History). I come back to Sheffield about once a month to visit friends but am thinking of either moving back, moving to London or leaving the country altogether. If I do stay in the country am thinking about moving into the construction industry and to that end am spending a lot of time on building sites in Ipswich in my spare time.
lewisskinner June 12th, 2007, 03:54 PM I'm Lewis, aged 22, and I think of myself as a Sheffielder and Tyke although I was born at Bassetlaw Hospital, as it was nearer to where we lived in North Anston. My parents' were born and bred in Sheffield (mum in Handsworth, dad variously around including the Manor and Shiregreen) and saw the decline of the 70's and 80's, prompting them to run away to the Isle of Wight in 1987 when I was 3. I've lived in Paderborn, Germany and a shithole village near a shithole town in Buckinghamshire, only to return to God's own County to study medicine (a move which my parents cannot understand) and my younger sister has followed me (which they understand less!)
I like most kinds of music, particularly guitar-bands, but ranging from Coldplay to Slayer and everything in between. Consequently, my CD album collection has just passed 500.
I've lived in Crookes for the past three years, but am trying to buy a house with my girlfriend in Hillsborough.
I'm a Blade by birth :).
Skyscraper Hugger June 12th, 2007, 04:26 PM HI all
After many years just reading the posts i have finally joined the skyscraper community
Anyway I'm Ny AKA the Skyscraper Hugger!
I work in magazine production and also run my own graphic design agency and I am working on launching a new magazine soon.
I design magazines, and also offer a professional photography and copywriting service.
I studied at Donny and Hull and I hold a HND in Business Marketing and BA (Hons) in Business Administration.
I love bodybuilding, fast cars and big buildings
roneys_today June 12th, 2007, 06:00 PM right, i suppose it's my turn then.
i'm adam, 23. i was born in nether edge hospital, move a few hundred meters down the road and i've not moved since.
i very recently graduated with an Mdes in transport and product design from coventry where i am sentenced to stay during term time. my time there has only reinforced my views that sheffield is an amazing place and yet i'm always suprised just how good it is when i come home from time to time.
i'm also a musician of sorts, forming one half of 'adam and james', sheffield's premiere unsigned, experimental indie-electronica combo. also known as two twats with nothing to do abusing a casio keyboard.
the building site obsession has been present for far too long and was recently indulged with several trips (for work and play) to hong kong, a place i'm hoping to find work in the future.
paulmat June 12th, 2007, 06:35 PM Welcome Skyscraper Hugger!

We haven't had a Sheffield Forum meet-up in ages. And I think we've only ever had one. Theres a plan for the future.

Uptheblades July 3rd, 2007, 01:12 AM Let me introduce myself - I am Sheffield born and bred who has worked in the capital and Leeds aswell as Barnsley!
I am a town planner by trade and am passionate about Sheffield, which is an absolutely quality place; and unofficially, one of the best places to live in the country for its friendliness, down to earth humour, relatively cheap living costs, beautiful greenery, hilly topography (great skyline pictures), the merging of town and country (Ebenzeer Howard anyone?) and for being, well, different. We are not the former Socialist Republic of South Yorkshire for nothing!
For the past four years I have worked for a local authority in South Yorkshire as a planning officer.
As shown on these pages, the towns of Barnsley and Rotherham are showing signs of latent recovery albeit at a more restrained pace. But the omens are nonetheless good. Barnsley council has enlisted the services of a world renowned architect to design the new markets scheme within the heart of the town centre - Piers Gough of CZWG Architects. Barnsley markets currently one of Piers Gough’s biggest projects, among the top 50 in the country (see regeneration and renewal web pages) along with Heart of the City and Castlegate redevelopment and his designs are colourful and contain subtle hints of his famous flamboyant style. It will include an indoor amphitheatre, and indoor and outdoor markets under a raised canopy and a multiplex cinema, a Debenhams department store and a host of national retailers. Big, Bold and Brass Architecture comes to Barnsley! There is also the Digital Media Centre, which in architectural terms, is a gem of a building (well for Barnsley at least), and compares favourably with Sheffield's latest architectural offings. The market for town centre living is growing rapidly (albeit from nothing!) and there at least 5 or 6 schemes involving housing led mixed use development in the pipeline: mostly private, market led housing. Unfortunately Barnsley's web pages are less sophisticated than Sheffield's and you cannot download the pictures via the www. Shame. Remaking Barnsley web site is worth a look, as is Barnsley Bubble. The town centre has a quiet charm despite being ravaged by the collapse of mining industry and has an excellent collection of independent shops, which are really worth visiting, alongside the Victorian arcades.
Is remaking barnsley worth millions of pounds of tax payers money? Yes, most definitely and so far so good: undoubtedly a worthy cause. Tuscan Hill town? A marketing ploy but nonetheless effective at generating media attention. Halo? Yes, possibly: its in the masterplan. Barnsely as a 21st century market town: of course its a brand name, a corporate ploy which aims to give Barnsley a distinctive idenitity: we are a market town fit for the 21st century: modern technology and communications, locally produced food etc. So many other towns of similar size and stature have copied or aped the slogan/ aphorism: a 21st century market town, a testament to its success, I guess. The level of interest remaking barnsley has garnered has stretched as far away as Japan and the Far East, and visitors are coming over reguarly for tours of the town centre. The transport interchange does look abit like teletubby world but locals like the interiors and it has been received reasonably well considering how much it stands out! Apparently one of the colours was going to be pink! You budding photographers out there must come over and pay Barnsley a visit sometime.
One of my roles is to translate the vision of Remaking Barnsley '21st Century market town' into a spatial land use planning framework for the town centre- known as the Barnsley Town Centre Area Action Plan. The revised plan is due to be published in September and November of this year following which it will be submitted to the Secretary of State for independant examination. The existing draft version can be downloaded from Barnsley councils web site.
If anyone is considering pursing a career in town planning or urban design, I would highly recommend it to you. There are so many opportunities especially in the current construction boom and the salary in the north of England is pretty good too. I really enjoy my work and it is good to know there are other people out there who love architecture and design (yes, there are planners out there who do understand what makes good design!)
AndrewC July 3rd, 2007, 01:47 AM Welcome Uptheblades. I'm a recently graduated town planner too though I'm a rubbish student and duff in the head and so have virtually no knowledge about anything whatsoever. Dinp on the other hand has worked at Corby council for about a year now and knows everything. He used to beat me during lectures.
canarywondergod July 3rd, 2007, 01:47 AM I'm a second year at sheffield uni currently studying planning, its nice to hear of someone in the profession!unfortunatly i know nothing on Barnsley but i do know sheffield is a fantastic place to not only study but live as well and im very excited by all the new projects and the existing ones, in terms of regeneration sheffield has to be near the top the centre is simply stunning these days!
AndrewC July 3rd, 2007, 02:01 AM I actually did my Master Year consultancy project for Barnsley Council. Was tutored by Alan West if that name means anything to you UpTheBlades. Good man and I enjoyed the work mainly because of the relaxed nature surrounding our final presentation. It felt like a real presentation of results rather than a test like some of my other coursemates went through.
dinp July 4th, 2007, 12:03 AM Welcome Uptheblades. I'm a recently graduated town planner too though I'm a rubbish student and duff in the head and so have virtually no knowledge about anything whatsoever. Where the hell have you come from? I look forward to my friends from back home travelling up for Barnsley, Weds, Utd. matches this season. Its the only time I ever watch em. I was at wednesday on the last day of the season in May, but I missed Turners wondergoal.
I'm Tim. My username is part in reference to my fascination with dutch football and part in reference to my 'hood.
I have a strange love of dutch football - I don't know why, I hardly ever see it on the telly. But I play with dutch teams on ProEvo lots! Even though they're shit!
My Fantasy Football team this year is called NEC Naarge which pays homage to Naaarge City FC and my like of dutch football.
What a lovely 'complete' post.
AndrewC July 8th, 2007, 03:10 AM Oh, and my name isn't Andrew. Its actually Estoban. AndrewC is a tribute to former broom cupboard legend 'Andy Crane'.
