How mild is it in Europe right now?

Skyscrapercitizen
February 25th, 2008, 10:16 PM
Well there is no winter at all expect in the far north. Even in northern Sweden winter is 8 degrees milder then normal I read today. (-1 instead of -9 or something like that).

In western Europe we have had no snow at all till now and there will be none in the next week and then it's almost spring. In Switzerland temperatures rose to more then 20C last weekend en +2C on mountains almost 3km high...

The detailing on this tower is perfect. Commendable use of solar collectors. It has the added benefit of creating a sophisticated design element. The 'cut out' running up the edge coupled with the larger rectangular feature near the top is very elegant.

It feels like winter again today, with an icy wind, snow on the North Shore mountains, and a brief, cold thunder storm. This is despite ample evidence that spring has arrived, notably the eruption of cherry blossoms and spring flowers throughout the city.

It was an odd day for weather in Vancouver.

Depending on one's local micro climate, today brought sun, rain, and amazingly either hail or snow. This resulted in the city being drenched, frozen and bathed in intense white light all simultaneously. I happened to have my camera at the ready and believe me when I say that the colour and contrast in these photos is pretty spot on.

Thought it was worth mentioning that Urban Fare has intentionally set up most of their bottled drinks against the glass on the Georgia side, so that at night when the lights are on inside each of the transparent squares looks a different colour - almost like it is stained glass. That combined with the illuminated signage really lessens the blank-wall effect.

Great shot from last week by juttamk (http://www.flickr.com/photos/alicebear/) on flickr:

The Coastal Church west of the building, it's always been used as a church since opening in 1919 even after that restoration, right? We like to see heritage buildings retain their use.
