This mixed use tower will be the tallest building of Santiago, with its 52 floors and 181 mts.
height, approved by the district urban department of Las Condes, its construction works has
begun at first days of January 2006...

The project was designed by the architect Abraham Senerman, for the holding
group ASL and Bethia group...

The main characteristic of this project is that it will become the Chile's tallest, surpassing to
historical buildings as "Entel Tower", the "Marriot Hotel" and the "Telefónica" tower, that with its
spire reaches a height of 140 metres.

The tower will be located among five important avenues of las Condes district: Vitacura, El Bosque, Isidora

BTW: there're more proyects recently proposed, like the Costanera Center Building ) 61 floors), it will be designed by the famous architect Pelli, same as Petronas Tower, Kuala Lumpur Malasya, and a new tower proyected on the Parque Arauco Shopping Center, about 51 floors, so in Chile, we will spect the most modern skyline in latinamerica (office buildings).

This elegant and nice tower is going to change completely this districs of Santiago. As Chilean_Sky said, Costanera Center will be higher, but Torre la Portada will be the real first high-rise un Chile's capital, according to international standars of height.

great updates! i hope they manage to build that other skyscraper on the property right next to the titanium tower. a 42-45 floor building right next door would look nice.

I´m quite impressed about the desing of this tower. In my opinion is one of the most beautiful office tower U/C in the America´s.

At the beggining of construction works it happened something hard to fix quickly: too many water filtrations because of the subterranean layers of water coming from the Mapocho river (I don't know how it means in english), that problem caused some delays, and it took long time to see the tower growing as today.

Hi, here I got some information about the proyect:

Titanium La Portada
The building will be one of Chile's most advanced technological piece of arquitecture, and will be part of a select group of world structures certified as leading energy and environmental design projects.

Engineering:
At both ends of the tower will be metallic diagonals with energy dispensers that will reduce deformation during earthquakes. The Titanium La Portada project was subjected to wind tunnel tests by R.W.D.I. Anemos, a consulting engineering firm for the world's foremost skyscrapers.

Security:
The security sistem will include sprinkler network, thermal sensors, smoke sensors and loudspeakers on all floors. Control and management of toxic gases in the underground levels. Access to all floors and underground levels using magnetic card readers. Twenty high speed lifts, two of them pressurized and fireproof for firefighter usage. Heliport for two helicopters.

Environment:
The Titanium La Portada building is the first project in South America to be pre-certified by the U.S. Green Building Council in its LEED CS program. This exclusive certification sets apart leading projects in design, promoting energy and environmental efficiency, and minimizing pollution.

Look's like the lobby perimeter columns are steel encased, and the rebar use is extensive, it's great to see structural code standards in other parts of the world, that are like our's, here in Los Angeles.....
And this tower in particular, has many safety features, mindfull of the fact it's in earthquake country.

Yep, that's right. Los Angeles and Santiago are seismic zones, construction codes are very similar, that's why you see same structural systems. Cores and columns are reinforced with a plenty number of rebar.

Santiago is considered a Seismic zone 3, and hard soil.

That's right. We expect that Titanium will be the tallest building in Santiago for a few months :)

As you can check in the Costanera's Thread (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=324487), the main tower recently surpass the floor level.

to keep u up to date, for those who don't know, Titanium La Portada will have 190 m tall and it will be the second tallest building in Santiago, after 300 m tall of Costanera Center...

That zone will look simple amazing in 2010. I hope that we can see at least one more supertall around there. Also I hope that Senerman can buy the Titanium's neighbor building and that he can build the 42 or 45 floors tower he wants. And also I hope that Santa Rosa de Las Condes project feat accurately in that sector.

New updates pictures from Titanium Portada de Vitacura Tower, reaching level 17, 30% of its height aprox. The structure of this tower is a mix of "In Situ" elements and prefab ones, the "In Situ" elements are the main core, perimetral columns and perimetral structural beams. The prefab elements are the pre-stressed concrete floors and beams.

Hi people:

Titanium tower has reached level 18, rebar is about level 20. Silently, this tower grows with an impressive speed. That means that we will see soon this tower become in the tallest building of Chile - untill the Costanera Center gets the title in 2009-, when it reaches 40 floors in october maybe.

Updates 28-06-2008

Hi people

New images of this building that it rises really fast, the floors are reaching level 19 and steel bars up to 21. The structural system of this tower is a mix, with its central core and perimetral colums and beams in reinforced concrete, the floors instead are made of prefab concrete and it joints are prefab beams. That system makes the construction faster for its "mounting" while the rest of the building progresses.

Nuevas imágenes de avance de esta construcción que avanza sólida y rápida, las plantas van por el piso 19 llegando las enfierraduras al piso 21. El sistema constructivo de esta torre es mixto, con un núcleo central de hormigón armado en obra y una segunda estructura perimetral tamién armada en obra, las losas en cambio son prefabricadas y sus uniones también llevan vigas del mismo tipo que amarran el núcleo con el sistema de pilares y vigas perimetrales, lo que resulta en un montaje rapidísimo a medida que se avanza con la estructura "In Situ".


Another point of interesting is the impact that this tower starts to show when it is compared with the other buildings in its surroundings, you can watch it on the last pictures

Otro punto importante a destacar, es el impacto que esta torre ya empieza a mostrar al ser comparada con los edificios vecinos, en la última serie de fotos podrán constatar la escala de esta construcción.

Titanium tower goes really fast... last sunday it counted 22 floors and its rebar structure reaching 24th, rising like the foam of a beer's cup. The way it is growing we'll see a great progress at the end of this year, if we consider that this tower is near to reach the half of its height.

It's a really really amazing building. Very nice! I am very happy for Santiago. If it uses the glass structure with cable system or metal system, it will be very beautiful and transparency. This will increase its fame and attractive capability.

New fresh images of construction works of this tower that rises extremely fast, and nearly to become the tallest construction fo Chile (only for a while). Today it reaches 24 floors and its rebar getting to level 26, growing and adding metres and floors. It is interesting to mention the instalation of a Seismic energy dissipation system.

Hoy alcanza los 24 pisos y sus enfierraduras llegando al 26, sumando metros y pisos. Pictures from today saturday, taken on a trip to the "San Cristobal" hill, in the middle of the city. Titanium Tower starts to dominating its surroundings reaching its half height, at this point the tower looks important among its neighbours, just imagine how does it like to this end of year.

Thanks for the updates and photo's, javier. you truly are the skyscraper eye in Santiago.

It's great to watch these towers grow from your skyline, we had a little jolt last week, (i believe it was 5.2, centered about 25 miles east of downtown Los Angeles.) no major damage in the skyscraper areas, this particular fault can't produce much more than a 6.0, thank goodness...

I see alot of cranes in Santiago. Booming! :cheers: The Mountains in the back drop make it all the more better.

My favorite project in all Latin America!

I still always love Calatrava's architecture style !

Hi forumers, I brought new updates of "Titanium Portada de Vitacura" Tower taken yesterday to actualize this thread and to show how this tower has grown amazingly in a really fast way. Today its structure reaches level 26 and its rebar level 28, officially has its half height, about 100m.

Hola foristas, traigo avances de la torre Titanium Portada de Vitacura del día de ayer para ponernos al tanto de lo que ha crecido esta torre que avanza a un ritmo descomunal. Hoy, su estructura llega al piso 26 y las barras de acero alcanzan hasta el piso 28, oficialmente ya sobrepasó la mitad de su altura final y debe estar alrededor de los 100m.

Hi guys

Updates pictures of this tower, where it is easy to see a remarkable progress on the construction reaching level 29, growing as the way we are used to see. There's no much to say also, but to say this tower is the queen of prefab elements, that's why the speed of its contruction works.

A young worker died on thursday 11 when the hook of a tower crane crashed with a steel girder that fell crushing the worker :ohno:

Updates of Titanium Tower from saturday, that could be stopped or delayed because of the investigation of the dead worker. Today, at least its construction works are reaching level 29

Un joven trabajador murió el jueves 11 de septiembre cuando una grúa pasó a llevar una viga que cayó sobre él matándolo instantáneamente :ohno:

Avances de la Titanium de hoy sábado, que seguramente se detenga por un tiempo o reduzca su velocidad de creciemiento, pues se tiene que realizar una investigación del accidente fatal. Hoy, por lo menos en el piso 29.

Update pictures of saturday 4 of august. The height of this tower is reaching level 31 (I thought because the death of a worker some weeks ago construction would be stopped while during investigations, but as we see it wasn't like that), at the same time it appears the first cladding pieces to the north facade. It is also started the little building sticked to the tower on the east facade. I think that this tower will reach the 40 floors to this end of the year, and about april-may 2009 could be finished its structure.

Fotos de avances de esta torre de ayer sábado. La altura se empina por los 31 pisos (yo pensé que después del accidente donde falleció un enfierrador la obra se iba a paralizar mientras durara la investigación, pero por lo visto no fue así), y se empiezan a ver los primeros paños con muro cortina instalado por la fachada norte. Se ve también que comenzó a levantarse el volumen saliente de oficinas de la parte oriente de la torre. Calculo que al ojo, esta torre estará llegando a los 40 pisos a fines de año, y por abril-mayo de 2009 tendrá su obra gruesa completa.

Updates 08-11-2008

The tower is now reaching level 36 and its rebar up to 37, it keep adding floors while its presence in its surroundings is more notorious every day. The cladding of this tower is the great progress this time. Just watch it.

La torre ya va por el piso 36 y alcanzando el 37, sigue sumando plantas mientras se nota cada vez más imponente en su entorno. Los revestimientos exteriores son la gran novedad dados sus avances.

Buenisimo el video bebiduncho y sigues por donde ibas llegas al parque bicentenario, que es donde estuve hoy. Fui a la feria de diseño que hicieron y estuvo filetee!, de lo que me percate y realmente me llamo mucho la atencion es que la vista de santiago es la mejor de todas, el skyline de santiago promete mucho desde ese angulo, asi que invito a los que gozan de la fotografia, irse a dar una vueltita al parque bicentenario en vitacura, donde esta la municipalidad y vean como el skyline de stgo se forma de una manera increible, me lo imagine con las torres que vienen creciendo y es otra weaaa, onda costanera center mas las 2da y 3era torre del complejo se ven tb, hay un angulo justo en que se ven todas las torres nada tapa a nada, entonces se ve a lo lejos como un gran, pero gran nucleo de edificios que juntos forman una vista increiblee..asi q vayan a sacar fotos alla y muestrenlas aki, de verda la vista desde alla es la mejor del skyline de stgo...

Updates of Titanium tower, that today is reaching level 40 by its rebar, that makes it from now the tallest Building of Chile (shamely, could have been before). The cladding installation is on the way, and it is easy to see the tint of the curtain wall, very similar to its neighbors.

Avances de la Titanium que a estas alturas está llegando al piso 40 con sus enfierraduras, lo que la convertiría a partir de ahora en la tore más alta de Chile. Avanza la colocación de los paños de muro cortina y se empieza a notar el color que tendrá la torre, muy en sintonía con el resto de torres del sector.

Hi everybody...

The Titanium reached -as the number posters means- level 42, that it makes it the tallest tower of Santiago and Chile, but as we
have detected before there is a mistake in the count of floors with two less, today it getting the real level 40.
Overall, there is no more to say, the progress is on and the tower ownes the title of the talles chilean construction... and today
that is visible when it is watched in situ, the tower is really big.

La Titanium llegó -según los carteles de piso- al nivel 42 lo que la convertiría en la torre más alta de Santiago y de Chile, pero
como ya habíamos detectado hace un tiempo un desfase de 2 pisos en la contabilización, hoy estaría alcanzando en la realidad
el nivel 40. Fuera de eso novedades no hay, el avance sigue su curso y la Titanium se está quedando con el título de la más
alta... y al día de hoy eso ya se percibe, pues en terreno es realmente enorme.

Hi. New updates

Here a selection of pictures of the new queen of heights of Chile, that shows a progress read on level 44, though in fact the real count is 42 because of a 2 floors lag on that count, but doesn't mean the tower is today already the tallest building of Chile. The skin works goes on: Alucobond, cladding, granite. It appears also the metalic structure to support the curved cladding.

Acá una selección de fotos de la nueva reina de las alturas de Chile, que presenta un progreso indicado al piso 44, aunque por el desfase sería en la realidad el 42, pero eso no evita que ya sea la más espigada de las construcciones habitables de este país. Sigue la colocación de revestimientos: Alucobond, muros cortina, granito. Aparece también la estructura metálica de soporte de la parte curva de los paños vidriados con unas salientes tubulares con las respectivas pletinas de anclaje.

It is not the CBD. The place where is located this tower is between 2 districts of east Santiago called Las Condes and Providencia, that contains almost all new projects of office buildings, it is a relatively new area under a dynamic development. The Santiago's CBD is located 7 kms to the center of the city, and it keeps being as an important point for the city, but is slowly losing its power to attract new projects.

The smog increases to the winter season, because of the "greenhouse effect" generated by climatic and land conditions, you know Santiago is surrounded by hills and mountains, so the natural ventilation in winter decreases in a dramatic way, then it appears this shit. On spring and Summer, ventilation goes better and smog is low.
