UNESCO elects Syria to human rights committees (http://www.canadafreepress.com/index.php/article/42656)
GENEVA, Nov. 23 – UNESCO’s executive board, which includes (http://www.unesco.org/new/fileadmin/MULTIMEDIA/HQ/GBS/SCX/pdfs/ELECTORALGROUPS_2011-2013.pdf) the US, France, the UK and other Western democracies, unanimously elected Syria (http://www.unwatch.org/cms.asp?id=2750557&campaign_id=65378) to a pair of committees – one dealing directly with human rights issues – even as the Bashar al-Assad regime maintains its campaign of violence against its own citizens.
The Arab group at UNESCO nominated Syria for the spots, and though the 58-member board approved the pick by consensus on Nov. 11, the agency has not yet posted the results on its website.
Syria’s election came just a day before the League of Arab States moved to suspend Syrian membership of that body.
“The Arab League’s suspension of Syria is stripped of any meaning when its member states elevate Syria to UN human rights committes,” says Hillel Neuer, executive director of the Geneva-based monitoring group UN Watch.

Senator Osmeña grills PH envoy to China, warns of disaster (http://globalnation.inquirer.net/19305/senator-osmena-grills-ph-envoy-to-china-warns-of-disaster)

Exasperation reigned at the confirmation hearing of the country’s ambassador to China on Wednesday after it became apparent that his only qualification is his closeness to President Benigno Aquino III’s family.
Domingo Lee, who claims to be the godson of the President’s grandfather, Benigno Aquino Sr., could not even enumerate the three “pillars” of Philippine diplomacy before the Commission on Appointments (CA), causing Sen. Sergio Osmeña III, a member of the powerful body, to ask the President to withdraw the envoy’s nomination.
“I can’t even quantify the danger to the Filipino people in case he gets confirmed,” an irritated Osmeña told reporters after the hearing.
“I am appealing to the President to withdraw his nomination because it’s not fair to the Filipino people. It looks like personal friendship has overridden the national interest here and I think this is going a bit too far,” he added.
During the confirmation hearing, Lee said he was planning to convince his “many friends in high positions in China” to help “change the status” of illegal Filipino workers in the mainland.

Wv3fKtnAWm0The Philippine population in 1930 = 13.1 million and in 1945 = 18.9 million, it might have been so manageable back then.
william :D December 1st, 2011, 10:28 AM that's almost the population of Metro Manila today.
speaking of population, wala na kong narinig na balita about RH Bill. tahimik na rin ang CBCP.
hakz2007 December 8th, 2011, 08:39 AM More foreign trips for Aquino next year
MANILA, Philippines - President Aquino will likely have a number of foreign trips next year.
Apart from his expected state visit to Washington in the United States in January, Aquino also has standing invitations to visit New Zealand and Papua New Guinea in 2012.
This is on top of the usual twice-a-year Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit, which is due to be held in Cambodia in April next year, and the annual Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in the last quarter of 2012 in Russia. kenken94 December 19th, 2011, 04:25 AM ^^ Woah! That rang a bell on my head! Would SK make a move? Is Kim Jong-Il's son fit to rule North Korea? There's still quite a lot to see.

Unfortunately, old Kimmy's son has been prepared by his dad to take over.
kenken94 December 19th, 2011, 04:34 AM ^^ Yeah. Too bad for the brainwashed North Koreans too. They'll bow down to a new portrait now, the new dear leader of NK.
If I am right, is NK a right-wing extremist government similar to those of Nazi Germany?

LuckyLady December 19th, 2011, 04:42 AM his death had been prepared a long time already so don't assume NK is not prepared for this day.

kenken94 December 19th, 2011, 04:44 AM Extreme left wing. Left - cOmmunism, socialism. Nazi Germany was actually anti- communist
Ah yes! Sorry.
Conservative/Liberal Democracy is on the middle. Extreme left are totalitarian regimes and Nazi Germany on the extreme right.
Nazism was an ideology that emerged as a reaction to the spread of communism to eastern Europe. But surprising enough though, Hitler admitted that he really admired Great Britain so much. That Nazi Germany's policy in 1930 was to create a military alliance with the UK and exterminate France for it's westward expansion. So much was his belief on the British that he planned to share the world with them. That he should dominate continental Europe and allow the British Empire to continue it's naval supremacy in the world. He even said that the British were a more superior race than the Germans themselves and that he would rather preserve the British Empire than allowing Americans to gain power. Just sharing though.
Now enough with the OT. What's the name of Kim Jong-Il's son again?

yeah it's the least interest of the tsikoms to let the NK, one of their allies, to be democratized and be good with their neighbors. More beggars, more allies for them and more headaches for the US, that's their policy:lol:

The yanks looked too shocked on the second vid. It doesn't even look like they've won the battle. After all, it was fierce, bloody and every Japanese that wasn't killed by the allied forces or guerillas killed themselves.

Pyongyang, December 19 (KCNA) -- Leader Kim Jong Il had received medical treatment for his cardiac and cerebrovascular diseases for a long period.
He suffered an advanced acute myocardial infarction, complicated with a serious heart shock, on train on December 17, Juche 100 (2011) for a great mental and physical strain caused by his uninterrupted field guidance tour for the building of a thriving nation.

xxxriainxxx December 20th, 2011, 08:39 AM Philippines extends condolences to North Korea after leader's death
Tuesday, December 20, 2011
MANILA—The Philippine government extended its condolences to the government and people of North Korea following the death of President Kim Jong-Il, who died of heart attack over the weekend.
In a statement, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said it is hoping that Jong-Il’s passing will not affect the transition to a new leadership.
This developed as reports pointed to his little-known third son, Jong Un, as the likely successor, who was seen as an inexperienced leader.
“The Philippine government values its relations with the DPRK and will continue to cooperate with them to intensify the promotion and maintenance of peace and stability in the Asia-Pacific region, including in the Korean Peninsula, to ensure the region’s continued prosperity,” the DFA said.
The government also thanked the communist nation in improving bilateral relations, “including the protection and promotion of the rights and well-being of Filipino nationals.” (Virgil Lopez/Sunnex)

Talata.Productions December 20th, 2011, 02:13 PM I think this just shows that the event earlier this year, the shelling of an SK island, sorry can't remember the exact news, was just a public stunt to show that NK is still dominant and the new successor had balls enough to piss of SK.
With NK leader dead his leadership would be passed to his son, obviously, so that the power won't wane on their hands, err what's the difference between communism and monarchy again?
With that much power consolidated into his son's hands, let's just pray that their new leader isn't THAT crazy to actually attack SK, or else even our nation would be dragged in it.

Mercato December 20th, 2011, 05:19 PM Just what is it with quite a few Asian societies wherein the sons of the top honchos, not just of countries but of certain large Philippine corporations I know of, are bestowed with some kind of Royal Rights of Succession. Is that fair to the other peers? Most certainly not.
The sons of gods and demigods are almost always guaranteed a jumpstart in their careers and enjoy a huge advantage over their other peers as far as promotions and corporate coddling are concerned. :ohno:
In addendum, I also observe that there is an excessive and overabundance of the use of the titles Sir or Madam in Philippine society. In almost all First World societies, we call each other by first name basis. :) The title Sir or Madam is usually reserved only for a vice presidential level. Hirap talagang turuan ng feudal society no.

At least in the Philippines, it has been tempered by Western influence. Sure, we still have that "hierarchy" but it's not as serious as compared to our East Asian counterparts
