I personally prefer threads like David's... Pictures (with diaries) of private trips... The Jakarta and Hongkong-Thread is very disturbing here... Too commercial... We already have something like that in the citytalk forum!

Well, personally, I am not sure about the point yet. I spend quite some time browsing through my pictures and compiling a decent report, but I don't know whether it is worth it. So, I'd like to know how you feel about it.

how do we know that this isn't going to turn into an advertising or tourism section ,where a bunch of come to (insert hometown here) threads?

NICE. This will be one of my most visited sections in the future.

I hope this will become a subforum whit only selfmade pictures. I hate it when people post more than hundred differrent photos from an particular place just to promote it, I think this ruins most of the photo forums. Luckily enough it's not the way it goes in the dutch photo sub forum, otherwise i'd avoid it too.

This subforum must be a subforum where you can discuss youre future trips and vacations. Where you can ask info about staying somewhere and a subforum where you can show your holiday journals.
That would be great if that happened, thats what I made up and wanted to start a thread about.
So I hope this can be possible, I think its the best way for this subforum.

This looks quite good. All the more reason to visit SSC often.

Nice idea. But íf everyone would go post pictures of different cities (especially "promotion pictures"), doesn't it become too much the same as the photo sections of SSC? So perhaps it would be better to emphasize on travel discussions, while travel pics could just go into the regular photo sections. Just my 2 cents.

(sorry, too tired at this moment to check my English grammer. I can do better)

I also think that pictures should be not welcomed here and the emphasis should be on travel experiences and advices. Exception regarding posting pictures: If you want to show the Hotel, Bar, Restaurant, other locations for easier recognising it which you are recommendating. This doesn't mean a flood of pictures of the very same location. one or two pictures should be enough.

Very nice addition to SSC! I agree with Soufian though about the pics. Let's only post pics that you took on your trip, or at least limit the amount of pics from Google Images.

I like the Geography part too. But, I think that SSC will have a lot of very knowledgeable geographers. However, I'll try out some questions.

I second that Nick in Atlanta. But does Rainier Meadows has enough time to controll also this Forum???? Maybe it's an idea to make a sticky thread with the rules, like:
-Only Journey travel photo's, from yourself. So not made by somebody else!
-No promoting of a region in the hope to get tourists(this is not an commercial website right)
-Discuss here everything that's going about travels and geography
- And please no photospamming!!!

Nice idea indeed. If I may say, it's like the City versus City forums, without the versus competition, photospamming and bashing. ;)

It's indeed best not to use this section for 'pix-from-my-city-you-must-come-and-see!' kindalike threads, but I always like to see how things are developing without to many rules to box out discussions, so we'll see what we all make of it. I'm hoping for actually travel related discussions in general.
