Well if by "throw"(through?) you mean "shoot", and by "into prison" mean "with machine guns", you're correct. Don't do it! Just put a Free Tibet bumper sticker on the back of your Honda and move on.

Let him have his fun. I'm convinced he has good intentions, but I believe there is still so much to be sorted out in the US or in each of our "western" countries. How about homosexual rights in the US, for example?
However, I think this is not the right forum section.

Heres a tip. Go to China, visit an internet cafe. Go to google, and keep typing in Falun Gong over and over again until the computer shuts down spontaneously. When it does, rethink your actions and come back home.

I'm not sure that's a great idea, seeing as the tens of millions of Falun Gong practitioners tried with little success to grant themselves acceptance from the government. If you are hell bent on doing it though, make sure you do all your sightseeing beforehand, go to the Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven, all the lakes and clubs and old style Hutongs and the Great Wall. Feast on some Peking Duck and Hot Pot.
Cameras are everywhere on Tiananmen Square and there are plenty of policemen. Chances are, you guys will be thrown into an Iveco Police van before you know what hit you and questioned before being deported.
According to the goverment there were apparantly 84,000 protests in 2005, most are about compensation for housing and land. The people are free to protest about these matters for the most part as they're not political. The government is definitely more sensitive about issues such as Falun Gong. The idea of you guys protesting for such a cause is intriguing to me but good luck!

as people have said, do your sightseeing before your protest. You probably wont be injured, but youll most likely be taken by police and deported before you have enough time to actually do any demonstrating.

I was in Tianenman Square only a few months back.
I would advise you not to protest but if you want to stage an effective protest you should not all walk in a group of 15-25 people as you'll probably be broken up before you even get the chance to start protesting. You will need to familiarise yourself with the Geography of the square first. This can be done with a bit of on-site reconnaisance.
I would recommend going in 2 or 3 groups entering from opposite ends of the square. One entrance is in front of the Tianenman gate and there is another entrance near the McDonalds and Mao's Mausoleum.
Go and see all the sites and attractions that you want before you go into the square as you should assume that you will be arrested and interrogated. And that's if you are lucky. Don't plan on ever going to China again as you will probably barred from entrance for at least 10 years. You might get on the news though!

My advice would be to contact the UN and ask what have the biggest impact.. because the protest will only last 10 seconds and then you will ( if not to serius injured ) get to spend about a week or two in a chinese prison where they will try to frame you with serius crimes like spying and such... so in the worst case you will need layers and spend a long time away from SSC... belive me dude it's not worth it...
Go work for a pro NGO or the UN... that's why they are there!

What is Falun Gong?
http://www.falundafa.org
Falun Gong (also called Falun Dafa) is an ancient form of qigong, the practice of refining the body and mind through special exercises and meditation. Like tai chi, qigong is a vital part of many people's lives in Asia; almost every Chinese park is brimming by the break of dawn with people practicing these arts.
Only a few years after its public introduction in 1992, Falun Dafa quickly grew to become the most popular form of qigong ever in Chinese history. The major reason for this is that Falun Dafa distinguishes itself from other qigong practices by emphasizing not only physical cultivation, but also cultivation of one's moral character in daily life according to higher principles taught by Mr. Li Hongzhi, Falun Dafa's founder.
Falun Dafa's effectiveness in improving health and its profound principles have quickly made the practice immensely popular throughout the entire world. Since being introduced to the general public by Mr. Li, Falun Dafa has attracted tens of millions of people in over 60 countries. Most major cities and universities in the United States, Canada, Australia, and Europe have English-speaking Falun Dafa practice groups.
The people who practice Falun Dafa come from every imaginable walk of life, as Falun Dafa transcends cultural, social, economic, and national boundaries. The practice has spread largely by word of mouth, as those who learn it usually find the benefits simply too good to keep to themselves.
The only thing I can say is protesting of The Falun Gong's activities in mainland China is extremely dangerous and I wouldn't recommend it. But if you do go, you have to face the consequences if caught.
Anyway before you decide to fly to Beijing, please check out this website which shows the consequences of those caught and let me warn you, it's gonna be very disturbing!

In HK, there are several Falun Gong protesters showing their small display stands on how they torture FG practioners. You'll see some of them right near the Kowloon Star Ferry. But this is HK and the SAR government has no problem in their activities. The fact of risking travelling to Beijing just to protest the mistreatment of FG is risking your life.

From the US Embassy, China website
http://beijing.usembassy.gov/consular_sheet.html
In the past, protesters detained for engaging in pro-Falun Gong activities have been quickly deported from China after being questioned. Several of these protesters alleged they were physically abused during their detention. In addition, they alleged that personal property including clothing, cameras and computers have not always been returned to them upon their deportation. Chinese authorities report while they have deported these foreigners quickly after public demonstrations in favor of the Falun Gong, future adherents who intentionally arrive in China to protest against Chinese policy may receive longer terms of detention and possibly face prison sentences. In one instance, an American Falun Gong practitioner who was traveling in China on personal business was detained and asked to provide information on other Falun Gong sympathizers in the U.S.

Don't go. Your protest will last less than a minute before the police shut it down. The whole square is crawling with undercover and uniformed police looking out for people like you. Few people will see it and you will get no media coverage in China. You may also find many Chinese unsympathetic. Many think Falun Gong is a dangerous cult and support the government's tough line against them (of course they read the government censored papers so what can you expect!!). I think you will have much more impact protesting in the United States or Hong Kong where you could get media coverage and also remain safe from arrest and interrogation. I think protesting in Tiananmen Square is the height of recklessness. You may well just be interrogated and deported but it could be worse. You could land yourself in serious trouble. I would never trust the Chinese government with protecting my rights. I think it's a stupid risk to take and you will achieve nothing. You will probably reach more Chinese by opening a thread in the China section of this forum!!

I don't consider The Falun Gong a cult because it has no formal organization. But with it's growing number of practitioners, it is a threat to the government since it violates communist principles.

An extremely foolish thing to do. The protest will be broken up in minutes, have zero impact and you could wind up in a great deal of trouble. You must be off your head if you and these other 15-25 people are prepared to spend good money on this venture and for what....you will achieve absoulutely nothing.

Falun Gong is now just some political society. Many foreigners join them just to protest against the Chinese government, and I think that is not a very wise way to do so.
If you are so into human rights, why not protest in Iraq or North Korea? It sure would be more interesting lol!!
