The map would look alot more impressive if only I'd been to Russia.
dysan1 March 8th, 2007, 11:45 PM ^^ no trip across to mexico or carribean islands?
Umhlanga March 8th, 2007, 11:57 PM No. I don't go on holiday for beaches or tropical atmosphere. The only beach I've been to since 1987 is Umhlanga.
I prefer cities, museums, hiking, skiing, watching sports...anything other than sunbathing on a beach or next to a pool for a few hours. Even in Umhlanga, when I use the beach, it's either to swim or, more commonly, to walk. I've walked from Malindi to the Lagoon more times than I can count. And I think I've only ever sat on the actual beach at Umhlanga once. I do enjoy sitting by the pool in the evening, looking out at the sea and the ships though.

Out of those I have lived in (in order of born through to now) Zimbabwe, UK,USA and the RSA. Added 6 last year so up to 37 (16%)
mike2005 April 12th, 2007, 02:00 PM just got back from 2 weeks in China. Amazing to go back there again altho it must have the worst food ever (everything just tastes of salt which is odd cos I love going to chinese reataurants in SA!!). What struck me was that the pollution is even worse than it was a few years ago: crisis is not the word: even on a sunny day it looks cloudy because of all the smog: DISGUSTING!!!

HirakataShi April 13th, 2007, 02:32 PM *sigh* South Africans' curious boycott of Japan continues...
Jakes1 April 13th, 2007, 02:46 PM *sigh* South Africans' curious boycott of Japan continues...
Maybe it is because we are forced into western ghetto's? Just a joke... One of my best friends just worked in Japan for three months. He had a great time, but complained that many Japanese were a bit apprehensive in their dealings with him. But he had a good time, he watched "lost in translation" a couple of times...
Jakes1 April 13th, 2007, 02:49 PM HirakataShi, whats up with the afrikaans poetry?
joburg April 13th, 2007, 04:58 PM *sigh* South Africans' curious boycott of Japan continues...
I have a friend who is going to Japan to teach English on the JET programme. So maybe I'll be able to visit there soon. I think the reason, though, why many South Africans haven't been to Japan is that it's quite far and isn't the easiest (no direct flights to Japan) or cheapest distination to get to.
joburg April 13th, 2007, 05:07 PM My updated list...

I think that it is a beautiful statement. When I first read it, it brought tears to my eyes, so I added it to my signature.
Harkeb May 12th, 2007, 05:21 PM HI you all!
Just to say that I'm still around, and pop in once in a while. Unfortunately I do not get time to sit down for long. I'm on a travel troughout Europe, currently in Marseille, France. Beautiful weather and scenery out here. Will try to post some pics sometime. One thing for sure, though, never underestimate what we have back home. Cape beaches rival the Mediterranean anytime.
Cheers for eers.

Durbsboi May 17th, 2007, 09:30 AM So how was Ethiopia ??
Went to Addis Ababa, not bad hey, the new airport is pretty cool, & pretty empty, but the surroundings looked dodgy, the CBD is coming up nicely, I think the AU going there is doing good things for Addis.
