Glad to see Nhatrang growin very fast! This is my second beloved city after saigon! I visited it every summer when i was in VN.

It's my third most loved Vietnamese city, after bustling Saigon and poetic Hue.

wonderful pictures of all, I think Nha Trang is one of the fasttest develoed city in Viet Nam now.There are many projects not only hotesl for tourism but also many areas for trading

Ecspecially the investors of the Vinpearl and the Ana Mandara...both investors are building so much in Nha Trang right now. New luxury hotels, villas, urban areas, commercial areas and cable-car system.



Cam Ranh Airport should be turn into a international airport (~750ha) according to a masterplan `til 2015.

In Nha Trang, tourism plays the most important role, that's why there are many hotels which are being built right now, however, Danang will have more commercial towers and of course, will have very high buildings in a near future (exp: the 30 storey high VMF building, Vinh Trung plaza, Indochina Riverside Tower...)

VietNamNet – To honour the beauty of Nha Trang city in Khanh Hoa province, its leaders decided to build a VND10bil “artistic building." But the artwork soon faced opposition.



The building is called the Hoa Bien (Sea flower) and was designed by architect Nguyen Ngoc Dung. It is made of concrete, is 36-metres high, and boasts five “flower petals” made of glass and aluminum.



However, the building is still unfinished, and is being critisized for taking away from the surrounding scenery. The taller the building has become, the more uncomfortable locals have become.



Both Nha Trang people and visitors have been heard to remark: “What kind of flower is this? It looks more like the chimney of a cement factory.”



Nha Trang City has been preparing to be honored as one of the most beautiful sea cities in the world. The city’s leaders have been carefully planning the city's aesthetic improvements. In May 2002, the city held an architectural competition for the building, which is located at 2-4 Square, Nha Trang.


After four months, the competition’s organizers received 10 entries, from which they selected five to award. “Hoa Bien” won the second prize (no first prize), although all of its details had yet to be finalized.



“Hoa Bien” then was chosen to be built. In 2005, the project started. But builders continuously asked Nha Trang City to increase the project's budget. Their reasons were that some of the details of the building had to be changed and the costs of some building materials had increased.



From VND10bil, the investment for “Hoa Bien” was increased to VND18,3bil.

On January 17, 2006, the Nha Trang People’s Committee decided to halt construction and find another builder. On March 1, 2006, the director of the Hon Tre Tourist Company, representing five other builders, was given the project.

On March 9, Le Xuan Than, deputy chairman of the Khanh Hoa People’s Committee, said: “We have spent already VND5bil. We will continue to build “Hoa Bien”. But we have to wait for the new project from the five builders.”


And, Nha Trang still does not know what kind of flower the “Hoa Bien” will be.

...Hon Tre Island gonna be one of the best extensive tourist places in Vietnam beside Tuan Chau Island and that new one in Vung Tau within one beautiful natural place... :yes: ...my impression of that Hotel on Hon tre Island was just :eek2: ...from that time I got more interested in Vietnam^^
...btw, it'll host "Miss Vietnam 2006"...the same investore has another big project on the mainland in Nha Trang (Phu Quy) which will be connected with Hon Tre island by a cable link system (3,200m,the longest in world)...

Vinpearl to open retail village in Aug

The Vinpearl International Tourist & Entertainment Complex is inviting retailers to join its scheme of opening a major shopping thoroughfare in the central coast city of Nha Trang in August, the project owner's marketing agent said on Wednesday.


Richard Leech, director of retail services at CB Richard Ellis (CBRE Vietnam), told a press briefing in HCMC on Wednesday that the retail village would cover 6,000 square meters, and would have 100 shops and kiosks of different sizes appointed.

CBRE Vietnam has been appointed by Hon Tre Trade and Tourism Co., Ltd, which is the Vinpearl's owner, to work as the retail consultant and sole marketing agent of the retail village.

The retail area and traditional village is the main thoroughfare connecting Vinpearl amusement park and Vinpearl water world, Leech said and called for enterprises to join the scheme to set up their shops there.

The Vinpearl International Tourist & Entertainment Complex, some 450km north of HCMC, is one of the biggest luxury international resorts in Vietnam.

This area would supply luxury goods for the resort's visitors, and the project owner envisions the area to offer such items as fashion, cosmetics, jewelry, traditional products, holiday souvenirs and convenient products for guests, he said.

The CBRE executive said he believed that Vinpearl would become a new and exciting entertainment destination of significant scale that would provide world-class facilities to tenants and shoppers in a traditional but modern setting.

"This retail village will be themed in the traditional style of Hoi An streets in Quang Nam Province," he said. "This will be one of the many unique features of the complex that will attract the interest of domestic and foreign tourists."

Early tenants will get some incentives such as low rent and a choice of location as well as opportunities to advertise their brands to both local and international organizations and tourists, he said. Rent for the retail area will vary from US$10 to 20 per square meter.

The Vinpearl complex includes a five-star 500-room hotel, while a municipal theater capable of seating 5,000 people will be opened in August. Meanwhile, several other entertainment and food and beverage facilities will open soon.

The owner of the Vinpearl complex is scheduled to put into operation the world's biggest sea-crossing cable car system in October, while Vinpearl Water World will also be opened soon later. In addition, its spa facility will be opened next year.

In the years ahead, the owner will put to use the third phase of the project, which will include an 18-hole golf course, the Vinpearl Resort 2, and the four-star 200-room Vinpearl Hotel.
