Cool, I remember when I was in Doha I have seen the construction site for this tower. It isn't bad. Are they done though?

They are working on the final story or the helicopter pad now.. They are almost finished...

Wonder how they illuminate this building. Lighting quality are very bad in ME region. Any one agrees ?

Wow, the exterior...What a nice unusual colour...For a building's cladding that is...It will surely stick out (in a good way :))...

^^^ Dave, there is just one, but as you can see from the rendering, it consists or a U-shaped tower with the front view appearing like two separate disinct towers.

شهدت منطقة الدفنة فجر امس الثلاثاء حريق مروعا في برج الدانة المواجه للسيتي سنتر وأسفر عن مصرع 6 عمال من الجنسية السورية واصابة عدد آخر باصابات طفيفة. وقع الحادث ما بين الساعة الثانية والنصف والثالثة فجرا أثناء نوم العمال في القبو تحت الأرضي بالبرج مما حدا بهم الهروب من موقع الحادث في حين حاصرت النيران عددا آخر منهم ولم يتمكنوا من الخروج مما أدي الي مصرعهم في الحادث.

وفور اندلاع الحريق انتقلت قوات ضخمة من إدارة الدفاع المدني وفرق انقاذ من الدفاع المدني والقوات المسلحة وقوة الأمن الداخلية لخويا .

وعدد كبير من سيارات الاطفاء والاسعاف، كما انتقل لموقع الحادث العقيد الركن عبدالله السويدي مدير عام الإدارة العامة للدفاع المدني والعقيد عبدالله فخرو والعقيد أمان السليطي وعدد من ضباط إدارة الدفاع المدني وقيادات من قوة الأمن الداخلي لخويا .

هذا وأصدرت وزارة الداخلية بيانا رسميا حول الحريق قالت فيه:

شب حريق في أحد الأبراج قيد الإنشاء بمنطقة الدوحة الحديثة مقابل سيتي سنتر الدوحة وذلك في تمام الساعة الثانية والنصف من صباح أمس الثلاثاء والموافق 23/5/2006.

وفور تلقي البلاغ تحركت فرق الدفاع المدني الي مكان الحريق حيث باشرت عملية الاطفاء والانقاذ واتخاذ الاجراءات اللازمة في مثل هذه الاحوال.

وقد صرح العقيد الركن عبدالله محمد السويدي مدير الإدارة العامة للدفاع المدني بأن الحريق قد امتدت اثاره الي الطابقين السفليين (مواقف السيارات) اضافة لبعض الاضرار التي لحقت بالطابق الاول منه.

واضافة للاضرار المادية التي لحقت بالمبني توفي ثلاثة من العمال الذين كانوا متواجدين في الطابق الاول في السكن الخاص بهم، بينما تتواصل عملية البحث والانقاذ عن بعض العمال المفقودين.

وأشار العقيد السويدي ان اسباب الحريق ربما تعزي الي سوء تخزين مواد البناء التي كان من بينها مواد قابلة للاشتعال كالأصباغ والأخشاب وغيرها مما أدي الي سرعة انتشار الحريق وصعب من مهمة فرق البحث والانقاذ الجارية في المبني.

هذا وقد شاركت في عمليات الاطفاء والانقاذ بجانب فرق الدفاع المدني فرق من القوات المسلحة القطرية وقوة الأمن الداخلي (لخويا).

الراية انتقلت الي موقع الحريق حيث اكد شهود العيان والناجون ان الحريق ربما يكون بسبب ماس كهربائي مؤكدين ان الاخشاب والمواد العازلة وانابيب الاوكسجين والغاز ساعدت علي انتشار الحريق بشكل كبير فضلا عن وجود فرش واجهزة ومعدات خاصة ببرج مجاور مكون من 32 طابقا وتشرف عليه الشركة المنفذة للبرج الذي وقع فيه الحريق مما ساعد علي اشتعال النيران وامتدادها لوقت طويل استمر حتي وقت متأخر من بعد عصر امس.

وأكد الناجون ل الراية ان المواد المخزنة وانابيب الغاز والاكسحين كان لها دور كبير في انتشار الحريق واستمراره لمدة طويلة.

هذا وقد نجحت فرق الانقاذ من استخراججثتين من جثث العمال المفقودين وجار البحث حتي وقت متأخر عن باقي الجثث.

وقال باسم وسوف احد العمال الناجين في تصريحات لالراية فور اندلاع الحريق كان عدد من العمال ينامون في القبو وعدد اخر في الدور الاول العلوي حيث قام هؤلاء بالقفز من الدور الاول العلوي وانا معهم.

وأكد باسم: ان الشركة توفر سكنا للعمال في المنطقة الصناعية ولكن العمال يفضلون المبيت في الموقع حتي يكونوا قريبين من العمل.

واشار الي ان المواد المخزنة الخاصة بالبرج المجاور والذي تقوم الشركة بتنفيذه ساهمت في ارتفاع وتيرة الحريق نظرا لانها تحتوي علي مفروشات ومواد قابلة للاشتعال فضلا عن وجود اسطوانات غاز واكسجين في الموقع وقد دمر الحريق كل هذه الاشياء.

واضاف هناك عدد من العمال علي كفالة الشركة وعدد اخر يعمل بعقود من خارج الكفالة.

ومن جهة اخري تحركت السفارة السورية فور ابلاغها بالحريق وارسلت وفدا الي موقع الحادث حيث التقي بالعقيد الركن عبدالله السويدي للتعرف علي ملابسات الحريق وعدد الضحايا والمصابين.

كما استمع مسؤول السفارة الي افادات العمال الناجين من الحريق والاجراءات التي يجب اتباعها في مثل هذه الحالات.

وعلي صعيد اخر اكد مصدر مسؤول بالادارة العامة للدفاع المدني طلب عدم ذكر اسمه.. ان استمرار مسلسل الحرائق في المنشآت اصبح يمثل خطورة علي الاقتصاد. وهذه ليست مسؤولية الدفاع المدني وحده في فتحقيق السلامة في المواقع الانشائية مسؤولية مجتمعة بين عدة جهات واذا تقاعست جهة عن آداء واجبها فلن تنجح باقي الجهود.

واكد المصدر ان ادارة الدفاع المدني تقوم بواجبها تجاه هذه المنشآت بداية من مراجعة الخرائط الهندسية مع الشركات المنفذة ومرورا بالتفتيش علي توافر اجراءات السلامة في المواقع الانشائية ونهاية بمكافحة الحرائق والانهيارات التي قد تحدث داخل هذه المواقع.

وتساءل المصدر عن دور الشركات في توفير اجراءات الامن والسلامة للعاملين لديها مشيرا الي ان تراخي بعض الشركات عن القيام بدورها يحبط كل جهود الدفاع المدني.

وطالب المصدر ان تقوم كل الجهات التي لها علاقة بالامن والسلامة والتفتيش علي المواقع الانشائية بالقيام بدورها في مواجهة هذه الظاهرة.

ومن جهة اخري انتقلت الي موقع الحريق اجهزة البحث الجنائي وخبراء المعمل الجنائي للوقوف علي اسباب الحريق وتحديد المسؤولين عنه تمهيدا لاتخاذ الاجراءات القانونية ضد المتسببين في هذا الحادث.

The helipad structure is almost fully assembled, but the pearl is still not even structually made. I suspect that it will be mostly steel frame with triangular windows just like Faisalliah tower, riyadh.

Thanks for the pics! I guess they are waiting to finish the Pearl and remove its structure (in the end it should be free-standing) in order to complete the "inner" facade and cladding, since it's been pending for a long time...

A beautiful architecture that soon will belong to Ras Gas- one of the main gas companies in Qatar-. It is located in Dafnah area, where all the new towers are built. This sphere in the building is planned to be a meeting room. Interesting, isn't it!

We need this to be moved to Completed Project.
As a matter of fact Qatar threads needs a touch of organization.
