yes, very good choice! i always advice everybody who visit Taiwan to not stay only in Taipei and to go and visit the east coast of which landscape is very impressive and savage. in the end, i also advice you to take a stroll at the gorge of Taroko. good stay in Taiwan!

I think foreigners don't go there because it's hard to travel in the east coast if you don't have a car.

Can't you travel by train or bus?

Taipei... I didn't plan to go there in this trip--- Actually I am curious about these rugged coast around Eastern Taiwan or Hong Kong--- this exactly explains why I decided to travel in such an odd idea for a foreigner. (Fujian, PRC as well, but I didn't have the visa)

Also Kaohsiung seems much like a smaller version of Hong Kong--- it's a very urban city, with lots of skyscrapers for photos. (Though they are not comparable to what I saw in Central, Hong Kong) and I will be there tomorrow.

It's going to be a strange experience for sure--- Very humid and hot summer temperature is ideal for beautiful monsoon forest to look like a paradise--- that's usually even better than what you got in Brazil, for instance, with more developed roads and well-protected country prepared for photographers and travellers--- I had 3 very nice days in Hong Kong, another 4 days in Kaohsiung and Eastern Taiwan--- I expect this region looks the most beautiful and stunning among all subtropical regions around the planet, as Pierre shown in his photo--- Stunning as usual.
