khairuddin November 12th, 2009, 07:43 AM i totaly agree. Instead of spending 6 billion on this highway, they should spend the money on karachi hyderabad superhighway which is in such a bad shape for most of the part. its a headache to drive on super highway now

texanguy November 14th, 2009, 05:58 AM isnt superhighway being upgraded to 3 lanes each way currently? plus they are also supposed to be fixing other issues..
khairuddin November 14th, 2009, 07:42 AM well there have been news here and there since the last gov of nawaz sharif that its being converted into a six lane motorway but no progress yet. the most recent news is that the work is going to start by jan 2010, but i hardly believe that too
sourierservice November 14th, 2009, 08:02 AM ^^i think they will not start work on 3 lanes each side..ager karna hota to abhi jo dobara bana rahe hain wo 2 lanes nahi banate dobra se..utna piece he 3 lanes ka kerdete

Rs.9 billion is not a big deal for a motorway between two big cities of Sindh.......That will bring industralization by setting up economic zones along the motorway & ofcourse from it, people's time & money will be saved.....We should bear in mind that Sindh's budget is Rs. 327 billion

Most of the time, the mills, industries etc. generate their own electricity.........
khairuddin November 15th, 2009, 08:32 PM I think 9 billion is nothing, if they truly wana built a motorway comparable to lahore-islamabad one, it wil take atleast 20 billion; i might be wrong. yeah the economic activity will flourish specially 4 hyderabad as khi is already the economical hub.
peeru December 2nd, 2009, 08:19 AM HYDERABAD, Dec 1: Sindh Minister for Fisheries Zahid Ali Bhurgari, on behalf of Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, announced a relief package of Rs360 million for Qasimabad taluka during the inauguration of the development work. Zahid Ali Bhurgari also holds the portfolio of district president PPP Hyderabad.
The money would be spent on the repair of roads, sewerage and other development schemes of four union councils of Qasimabad taluka which remained neglected since last 11 years, he said.
The scheme was launched for removing the sense of deprivation among the residents of this area he said adding that the Chief Minister, in last Ramazan, had announced Rs2 billion under the Qasimabad Master Plan for the provision of recreational facilities to its people, he said.
The minister said that the PC-I for construction of an underpass near Naseem Nagar Chowk worth Rs150 million had already been prepared. The dilapidated drainage was the biggest problem of Qasimaabad taluka, he said and announced of spending Rs320 million from his own quota under relief package.
Similarly, some Rs40 million would be spent on the repair of roads from the quota of MNA Ameer Ali Shah Jamote he said and added that services of experts were also being acquired to ensure quality of work.
Project Director Shafique Mohammad Lakho gave a detailed briefing on the development schemes.
Vice president PPP Hyderabad district, Amanullah Siyal, Syed Faisal Shah Jamote, Pervez Ansari and Iqbal Soomro also spoke while a large number of PPP activists attended the ceremony.

Pakia December 7th, 2009, 01:52 PM Cool. Hyderabad, Sindh is surprisingly proving to be Pakistan's hope for continuation in infrastructure improvements, inspite of the dire political & law&order situation.
But I do hope they come up with an original name for the amusement park, pref. in Urdu or Sindhi - then another copycat westernized name for it.
khairuddin December 7th, 2009, 08:06 PM yeah its good. this district government has done alot for the city, but after they are gone in dec cos the local body system is being rolled back, then there is no guarantee for the completion of various projects

khairuddin January 14th, 2010, 07:48 PM ^^
wht i know is that superhighway was built by a german company in the ayub khan`s period and the same company also constucted this road for a connection of the superhighway to the mirpurkhas road. anyway, its autobahn, and its really funny to call it auobahn cos let alone motorway, its condition is even worse than many roads of hyderabad. the remodeling was to start but i think the tussle between ppp and mqm on local bodies issue has delayed almost every new project

Why there has not been a single new Highway/Motorway in Sindh yet! heck not even karachi/Hyderabad!! All new motorways are mostly being build in or around Punjab!

well its ironical that nawaz sharif performed the ground breaking ceremony of khi-hyd motorway soon after the inaugration of M2 but then musharraf gov took no interest in this project, and neither did NHA. even this gov is only converting the superhighway into a motorway, not building a new 1. and it will be such a fuss once the work starts because traffic on superhighway will be severly affected

khairuddin February 13th, 2010, 12:44 PM HYDERABAD, Feb 12: A cultural show of the artistes of Indonesia and Sindh will be held at the Expo Centre here on February 21.
This was decided in a meeting between the acting Consul General of Indonesia in Karachi Ms Merita Yenni and Hyderabad District Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jamil at the latter’s office.
Ms Yenni proposed a joint cultural show of the artistes of Indonesia and Sindh in Hyderabad and said that exchange of cultural and literary delegations between her country and Pakistan will go a long way in cementing the relations between the two countries.
She said that Indonesia and Pakistan were Islamic countries and both were working to ensure world peace.
Expressing concern over bomb blasts in Karachi and loss of precious lives, she said that the acts of terrorism had harmed the cultural, literary and social activities in the city.
Ms Yenni said that she was impressed with the development schemes that had been carried out in Hyderabad.
The district nazim told the visiting diplomat that Hyderabad was a historical city and had always remained peaceful. He spoke at length on the cultural activities organised by the district government and welcomed the suggestions of the Indonesian consul general.
He presented a book on the development schemes of Hyderabad and cultural gifts to the visiting diplomat
Later, the Indonesian consul-general visited the Expo Centre.

Ahmad Rashid Ahmad March 7th, 2010, 12:59 PM Federal government has allocated substantial funds under special Hyderabad Development Package through which a sizeable number of mega projects have been completed but some development schemes of the district are still facing delay in the commencement and completion of the new and ongoing projects, The Nation has learnt on Saturday.
Sources informed this scribe that former nazim Hyderabad Kanwar Naveed Jamil had a meeting with President of Pakistan.
He discussed problems of Hyderabad upon which the President had approved an amount of Rs2,500 million which was subsequently included in the Federal PSDP project for Sindh 2009-10 (Sindh) Sr No 52 showing nomenclature as Hyderabad Package (for drainage).
In this regard, a huge investment of billions of rupees on the schemes related to drainage and sewerage has already been incurred and such problem have been addressed to a great deal in Hyderabad.
The District Government Hyderabad, at that time, intended to include the project related to water supply, road network, construction of flyovers and construction of garbage disposal plant under the said scope of scheme of the best utilisation of the allocated funds.
Since the shown nomenclature of the new schemes has restricted the work to drainage only, therefore other schemes may not be entertained and approved by concerned quarters. Hence the said nomenclature needs to be amended as Hyderabad Package (New) instead of Hyderabad Package for Drainage accordingly for early commencement of the required projects. The approval of ongoing schemes under Hyderabad Development Package was mentioned in the PSDP 2009-10, by CDWP, sources said.
It is pertinent to mention here two following schemes were submitted by Planning & Development Department of Government of Sindh, Karachi. After due consideration in PDWP meeting to Chief Public Investment Authorisation Section Planning and Development Division Government of Pakistan Islamabad for CDWP approval vide letter no: SO(D) - Road-5/76P&D/2009 dated 11-05-2009, have not been taken up since despite lapsing of several months which has caused delay in the commencement and completion of the said scheme for public Interest.
The following two schemes under PSDP had been approved. The construction and improvement of various roads in Taluka Hyderabad District (Urban) costs Rs621million while Rs310 million was allocated for 2009-10. The other project was construction and improvement of various roads in Taluka Hyderabad (Rural) with total estimated cost of Rs209.024m while Rs205.750m was allocated for 2009-10.

They've done very good work, not that it was really needed, but now the place looks a lot more beautiful. But when you go towards the 'laari adda' from there and if you're a new driver, you're almost certain to get confused. Great work nevertheless!
peeru December 30th, 2010, 03:10 PM ^^
Well if this was not needed than what about the plans of building a flyover and an underpass here by the previous city government :) i think that was certainly not needed...Adil can you please post some more pics of this or other new stuff in city? this is what I could obtain sitting overseas!
Aadil.Aijaz December 30th, 2010, 04:17 PM I think that the traffic on that road is fine. I mean the road was not narrow before either, so the development doesn't make a big difference. Next time I go out, I'll make sure that I take some pics (though I always forget).

asif86 March 5th, 2011, 03:14 PM Why is it all the development in hyderabad is being done in latifabad and city areas. Why is qasimabad and rural tauluka ignored.
Aadil.Aijaz March 5th, 2011, 06:40 PM Why is it all the development in hyderabad is being done in latifabad and city areas. Why is qasimabad and rural tauluka ignored.
Probably because Qasimabad 'belongs' to PPP. That's what I hear from Muhaajirs. Whenever I have to go out with friends, the Muhaajir friends insist on not going to Qasimabad because they feel they'll be kidnapped or something. Some of them have NEVER been to Qasimabad. How retarded is that?! Qasimabad is much safer than Latifabad (even for Muhaajirs) in reality.
Back to your question: I have no idea. The city is all the same to me except the few flyovers that have been built. Absolutely nothing has been done (or even planned) for the busiest intersections and roads in the city. The traffic on Giddu Chowk is getting worse with every passing day. The traffic in the old city is retarded as ever. Qasimabad is far, far better off compared to those areas. Oh, and don't forget the bumpy Autobahn Road.
James-Bond March 5th, 2011, 07:00 PM Apparently the mustache has impaired his grammatical skills.
I regret nothing. :shifty:
peeru March 6th, 2011, 03:02 AM I also think that flyovers are not very well planned except for the one built at railway crossing latifabad...others were just waste of money..thankgod cantt authorities did not let them build a flyover at qasim chowk. on the other hand, qasimabad needs massive reconstruction of roads and streets...and by qasimabad, i dont mean phase I and II only, i mean the whole tehsil...the streets are in shambles, literally without street lights and medians....if these things improve then probably yeah it will be better to live in qasimabad than many other areass

They were planning to build a flyover on Qasim Chowk? The flow of traffic is perfect there, as far as I know. And that road is also very well maintained.
About Qasimabad, the only thing that annoys me are the huge electricity poles right in the middle of the roads (Wadhuwah I guess?). So retarded. The area around Pakora Chowk is fine, I think, with all the facilities available. But yes, there are a lot of roads elsewhere in Qasimabad that need to be reconstructed. But I don't really know much of Qasimabad, for I don't live there.

So another lie has been spread by MQM that when they had nazim in hyderabad in 2005-09 there was record development and people benefitted from it.
How many people live in hyderabad?
Aadil.Aijaz March 6th, 2011, 08:12 PM ^^
3 million, according to Wikipedia.
peeru March 7th, 2011, 01:10 AM ^^
three million is probably for the whole district but i think for the city its is around 16-18 lacks.....and yeah they wanted to build a flyover and an underpass at qasim chowk to wipe out all crossings and signals....though I am not sure how they had designed it

peeru August 17th, 2011, 05:50 AM HYDERABAD, Aug 16: The provincial government has allocated Rs620 million for four mega projects of Qasimabad taluka under a development and beautification plan. The scheme also entails efficient drainage system by constructing the Brick Lined RCC Sewer (BLIS).
DCO Hyderabad Ahmed Bux Narejo told this during a meeting held to discuss implementation of the new Hyderabad Development Package while Shafi Lakho of the RCC Consultants briefed the participants about the proposed work.
The total cost of the package comes to around one billion rupees of which Rs620 million was earmarked for the current financial year, said the DCO.
The projects comprise construction of interchange between Hyderabad Bypass and Wadhu Wah Road including underpass at the cost of Rs239.407 million; laying down of Brick Lined RCC Sewer (BLIS) worth Rs.228.715 million; building cement concrete roads at the cost of Rs.51.663 million and development of storm water drain at Auto Bhan Road for Rs.67.923 million.
Besides, Rs5.877 million have been spared for consultancy of survey, plan, design, PC-I and Rs8.816 million for consultancy charges of supervision, preparation of tender documents and tender evaluation along with Rs11.754 million for con tingency charges and Rs5.877 million for third party validation charges.
He said that these schemes would shortly be submitted to the provincial government for approval.
He hoped the communication and sewerage problems of Qasimabad would be removed once for all after the completion of these projects. The BLIS system would ensure efficient and durable sewerage system at par with modern countries.

He also directed the officers to identify other development schemes in the district with the consultation of stakeholders.
MD WASA Shafiq Arain, representatives of RCC Consultants and other officers attended the meeting.
