Qué bonitas construcciones, siempre he querido ver ciudades coloniales Inglesas, sólo he visto Españolas y Portuguesas.

Saludos.

Colonial architecture is much prettier than the garbage they put up nowadays in india and pakistan. If only they could use their heritage in their current designs instead of trying to (poorly) mimic souless dubai!

True "Indian" design is far too intricate and costly to reproduce on large scales, and would not work to my knowledge in making skyscrapers since you are not supposed to use steel and other materials/methods. And the result of a fusion between modern and old in one design almost *always* turns out bad from my experience.

amazing photos. looks like a great city.

Sad though with those name changes, though, where Bombay and Calcutta have been replaced by Mumbai and Kolkata.

Apparently Delhi could soon be Dili and India itself may be next for a name change.

Beautiful!

Where did these names come from anyway? Was it just misheard? Does the name India mean anything?

Hey Chronicsurfer, thanks for setting up this thread.. the pix are beautiful and I
LOVE Colonial architecture.
Let us know if you want to expand the thread to have others include pix of
Colonial architecture elsewhere in the world, for comparison. In the meantime,
here is an old Colonial statue of King Edward VII from Delhi, India, that now
rests in a park in the heart of Toronto!
