Since at least some months ago it´s clear that it will be completed in 2013 and not in 2016. The tower should stand between (Taipei 101) and (Shanghai World Financial Center).

Spires grow out of the top of buildings, not from ground level alongside them, so it's definitely not a spire. Maybe an overgrown flagpole?? :)

I only wanted to say that it's rare situation to sell office space in building. Rather the whole building is sold to other company or to investment fund which hires company that manages and rents these offices. In most projects office space is leased.

Probably they want to revive the main construction that after all will return their money and only then restart the spire. Actually the spire must have connection bridges with both towers simply to be stable. I think these bridges and the spire with its engineering systems will be mandatory for formal acceptance of the whole project by Fire Inspection officials, so let's wait a bit.

i thought the spire was a supporting element of the whole structure, but if they finish the buildings first it seems more like it's purely aesthetic..

Most important they've finished a mechanical floor that was a huge mess of complex structures. Everybody expected the promised growth rate of 1 floor per 10 days, but they failed somewhere with the formwork and with the subcontractor. They should recover from this soon.

Winter is not the reason. The reason is bad management and a lot of technical problems with new sliding formwork which is used for concreting the core of the tower. Now they decided to change formwork type. So construction speed should increase soon.

Diameter of the spire is 8,8 meter.
Distance between the west and the east tower is 21,5 meter.
