This is what I have been curious of all along since this building started construction - the central spire/antenna - It looks to me like it will be made of concrete...

buildmilehightower
July 18th, 2008, 12:34 AM
On the spire note, I always thought people were supposed to see 360 degrees outside the elevator while going up. But it looks like concrete surrounded, my thought was silly anyway, 100% see through spire with elevator will scare people away.

That visible grey cylinder below blue hat thing is concrete. Is there detailed diagram of the spire showing where its see through and where composition of spire changes etc...

Some people are saying that it will be a concrete tube that will open up (will switch to steel and glass?) right above the part that is already finished by now (I think it's called the west tower).

As far as being scared, I do not think so. I do not get scared when I ride elevator to the top of TV tower in Las Vegas.

Good progress!

To the spire: Maybe it will host not internal, but external elevators, I think it is big enough to host 4 or even 6 of them...

If I understand correctly, when the towers become about equal in height, the one under construction will get stuck at technical floor with outriggers. It will probably take 3-4 months for the for the U/C tower to overtake the completed one.

the roof of the West Tower is higher than second technical floor on East tower
and so they will have to build 3 or 4 floors to overtake the West tower

So any of you remember a picture where the developers of these buildings were standing in front of the new skyline, wearing suits in a nearly "Matrix" attitude?

Well, I can't seem to find it anywhere...it was great.

Oct. 1 (Bloomberg) -- Moscow's decade-long building boom is falling victim to the global credit crunch as record high interest rates squeeze developers in the world's third most expensive property market.

``Loan rates have climbed to ridiculous heights and the terms are very short,'' said Dmitry Lutsenko, a board member at Mirax Group, the Moscow-based company that's building the Federation Tower, which will be Europe's tallest skyscraper when completed.

Mirax canceled plans to develop 10 million square meters (108 million square feet) of commercial and residential space after interest rates on some loans rose to as high as 25 percent, Sergei Polonsky, Mirax's billionaire owner, said in a Sept. 29 e-mail

I don't think Russian developers are that dependent on loans. I bet most of them could easily pay for their projects in CASH.
The Credit crunch originated in the USA, and it will affect primarily American developments. :ohno:

:ohno:

I guess this means you've got the balance sheets of all Russian developers.

Sarcasm aside, developers do not rely strictly on cash - the return on investment is too low.

Don't shoot the messenger.

I just hope the Russian Tower is already financed. Otherwise, it could be delayed for years like the Shanghai World Financial Center after the Asian financial crises.

1. This thread is about Federation Tower. There is the general moscow p&c thead.
2. Bloomberg does not differs anyhow from RBC. All speculations about cancellations of projects has been denied by Polonsky in his blog. He has posted a video of his press conference, which is cleared all questions. 1 - They will postpone, not cancel, unannounced project for a year. 2 No any of announced projects will be delayed. They have $2bln in cash + $1bln from their creditors.

Well... I give 5. But it depends on weekday, daytime, weather, wind and region of Moscow. As I remember, FT is visible from Novokosino region — about 20 kilometers east.

The webcam shoots against the sun in the morning, in he evening the pictire is a little bit more clear.

"Later, I found another friend pacing his office atop one of the newly built skyscrapers of "Moscow City," the real estate symbol of Prime Minister Vladimir Putin's ambitions of turning the Russian capital into a new world financial center. Several major companies had already moved out of these costly quarters to way beyond the city's municipal boundaries, where they still can afford the rent. My friend's company will soon follow. The Vneshtorgbank (VTB), a major state-run bank, has just canceled its long-planned relocation to the Federation Tower, the tallest of the Moscow City towers. Soon they will stand empty, symbols of failure."

Or you could be talking about the tower on the right side of city of capitals which looks fatter and is called 'city hall and city duma' (completion in 2010) Which also is approx 200m shorter than federation tower at their completion.

No fancy projection or anything, you can see the lamps in earlier construction photos.

Nice progress on the East Tower (the higher tower), it looks like it's already almost the same height as the west tower, it looks like the completion date of 2009 can be reached...

Also i think that it's a great idea to project the temperature & time on the facade of the building, this should be copied more IMO.

And also I have a question regarding this picture(nice pic btw):http://s55.radikal.ru/i150/0811/ce/5f5c8db5fb0e.jpg
-AFAIK the tower with the green glass facade in the front is Imperia Tower, or am I wrong? And what's the tower between FT and Imperia/COC towers, is that Eurasia? Or the city Hall/Duma? And where (approximately) is/will the City Hall/City Duma be located on that pic...if someone could point that out to me, I'd be very happy...:)

Pretty spot on, Imperia is the green glass tower, Eurasia is the between Imperia and FT. CH/CD will be to the right of the FT in that picture, but will have the Mercury City Tower between the two.

Wow! :uh: The pool looks awesome, I wish i could have an apartment there....great view!

Btw, the city in the background on the pool pic-( http://www.federationtower.ru/f/1/tower/pool_n_spa/pool03.jpg )-is that really Moscow?
the architecture and buildings look quite different then the ones in Moscow to me...more like Paris I'd say.

Also here are some pics that i found, all from the apartment page of FT (http://www.federationtower.ru/tower/apartments/)-I hope they haven't been posted before:
