Now, I'm totally surprised! The Golden Horn looks amazing! I've been there 4 years ago and it was a huge mess. It's all renovated now and looks damn fine... =)

Still, Golden Horn is quiet messy considering other important districts of the city.

This district of the city looks miserable, buildings are in pretty bad condition, it looks very chaotic and disorganized, architecture is cool though

Hey, where did you get that angle of the Fener Greek school from? I got a shot up the hill but you can see the whole thing from here.

Can someone please tell me which area this is exactly and what the building I'm pointing out is?

Neorion this is the building of the Maraslios greek school (Μαράσλειος Σχολή) It is situated very close to the Fener Patriarch headquarters. This is one picture of it, July 2005:

Residents of Greek schools in Istanbul are not taking good care of their buildings... :(

The face of the buildings look very dark and depressing because of the dirt... This is also the case with the Greek school at the Beyoglu district...

It's a shame cuz these buildings deserve a better care...

Thanks mitasis. you can almost pick the old Greek buildings in Istanbul through the style.

It's a shame cuz these buildings deserve a better care... Bullu, there are reasons for that, including the diminished community and perhaps the ambiguous legal status of these buildings under the Patriachate. However, the good news is, it being in the Fener quarters means it is under UNESCO protection now and will probably be subject to the general restoration that is already afoot.

The shipyards alongside the Golden Horn must be classified as historic industrial heritages.
