then why do they need another building .. they already have a new meridian tower

Koweitien
February 25th, 2006, 05:16 AM
Because the occupancy of their two hotels was something like 85% which is quite high and therefore they need more hotels to accomodate more people :)

Yea sorry I was misinformed. I was thinking yesterday that the pic that I-Intelligent provided was not Mubarak tower because the location of Mubarak Tower seemed different than the location of Al Sane3 tower :)

hey guys,

if you want some information about the Four Seasons Hotel Kuwait City, i've got some. it's planned to have between 200 and 225 rooms, will be located in Salmiya, and will open in late 2007. it will most probably be in the Olympic Council of Asia Headquarters currently under construction across from the Scientific Center. check that page for more information.

devil mind .. comparing this tower to similar ones .. I find it interesting, and its proprtions (first pic) looks perfect. but I agree with you that the finishings (glass+facade material) are soo normal.

h_arc_h, its not only the finishing of this building, It's the finishing of most of the new buildings in the city that are ugly. I must say though I like the finishing of the Aljon tower.

Sanchero, I agree with you.

I think most of the new towers lack the originality in finshings because McArchitectes didn't spend time creating something special or ceative. Or the final part is just not that important. look at Al-asfoor tower ( Aljasem now ), they killed it with the type and colour of its exterior, as if it needed more ugliness.

On the other hand, there are some towers that their exterior's material made a difference and gave it an elegant look. My faviorite is Alraya, the white coloured stones are great, and the lighting at night is very successful method to emphasize it. Al-t'amenat and Al-salhya are also very good examples.

the architect's fantacy to create a modern art statement turned into a rubbish and a sick thing

Sanchero

Ugly. Ugly. Ugly. I think Baladiya should ban Alcubond (sp?). h_arc_h I agree, white stones are the best (they dont even have that reflective factor you see on many alcubond buildings which may get you temporarily blind while driving).

Kuwait City suffers from Visual Pollution (no! not from the old buildings which many people complain about such as Anwar alsabah, but rather the new buildings). I love Anwar Alsabah (or whatever it's called, along Jahra Road), if only they renovate it :(

We need more hotels in Kuwait City...:(
