Since it's a French Quarter photo thread, I have to post this
BTW, these are not the original street signs for Bourbon and Orleans. Many of the streetsigns for famous New Orleans streets were stolen after Katrina.

And to finish the thread off, a photo of a NOFD Fire Truck. The New Orleans fire fighters were truly American heroes during and after Hurricane Katrina.

Doesn't even look like a hurricane hit. Yeah I know the downtown and quarter did not suffer that much damage but still.

The architecture is so bright and whimsical, it contributes to the atmosphere of the French Quarter. The balconies with everyone's flowerpots are cool.

Everything looks fine, but there aren't people walking around.

The pictures didn't do a very good job of showing it, but the Quarter is bustling with people now, both tourists and locals. Walking around the French Quarter sometimes, seeing all of the people and how everything looks, you seem to forget that a cat. 4 hurricane rolled through the city 6 months ago.

I'm glad to see New Orleans getting back on its feet again, hopefully they get some kind of levee system up in there that will compete with what they have in the Netherlands (though one can only dream i guess)
