LANative March 1st, 2006, 01:11 AM Excellent. Hollywood needs a makeover.
Fern~Fern* March 1st, 2006, 02:28 AM Way to go Hollywood, those are pretty dope looking apartments/ condo's with a Whole Food downstairs.
LANative March 1st, 2006, 02:49 AM Lots of projects going down in L.A. altogether.
JRinSoCal March 1st, 2006, 05:08 AM Another project that's simply off da hook!
soup or man March 1st, 2006, 05:31 AM I'm loving the 'hidden parking lot.' LA should seriously build lots of buildings with hidden parking lots.
LANative March 1st, 2006, 06:31 AM Yeah those hidden parking lots are cool.
dweebo2220 March 1st, 2006, 07:09 AM I'm sorry guys.. But it looks like SAN DIEGO to me!!
bleh..
i don't like those little "hats" they keep putting on buildings..
klamedia March 1st, 2006, 07:31 PM Understand what you mean "dweeb". But Hollywood the tranny and runaway child prostitute capital of the world could never be San Diego! Even if it was cleaned from top to bottom with Comet!
The hats are just the current style of design. I've seen the "hat" tops all over the country unfortunately.

I like the little skyline that it is creating along Vine! Adds some density to the area... man that is going to be one happening place!
LANative March 1st, 2006, 09:31 PM It looks like Hollywood will get a little skyline soon.
Fern~Fern* March 2nd, 2006, 02:37 AM It looks like Hollywood will get a little skyline soon.
It sure is, that's soooooo cool.

yeah I just think those hats look sooo outdated already. I agree that cities everywhere are putting those hats on things..
BUT
So far LA hasn't (if you don't count long beach) had any notable examples of that faddish style. I guess Hanover tower's gonna have a big hat. It just looks way 90s to me. New Yorkers raise stinks all the time about new architecture going in in their city.. I think we'll also have to start here, lest everything starts looking like those fucking "aqua" buildings in Long Beach with Dolphins and shit. It's already bad enough that most new high-visibility developments have names like "Concerto" and "Evo." In San Diego they have a building called "fahrenheit," where the logo is that little o.. despicable.
dweebo2220 March 2nd, 2006, 07:24 AM I just read my post and it sounds like I'm adverse to newness.
Which is not what I meant at all.
I'm adverse to new stuff that's not actually new at all.
Just like, the creme, the red, the blue, it just looks soo much like San Diego stuff from like 1999!
Look at that street scene "context" shot. I'm surprised they even showed it with that other development. it makes it look like shit.
klamedia March 2nd, 2006, 07:40 AM Actually I like the fact that you are raising a stink about the architecture, that is your right afterall. I saw those awful "hats" and "ski slopes" on top of buildings start to creep up in New York, mainly over by the Hudson in Battery Park City. Nastiness. I'm adverse to comparing LA in anyway, shape or form to San Diego.
godblessbotox March 2nd, 2006, 05:42 PM this place is a megalopolis, of course there will be some bleed over in architectural style from san diego to here. so who cares? its not like there are huge Arabic patters all over the facade. its just another interesting attempt to give us more space.
dweebo2220 March 3rd, 2006, 02:23 AM Arabic patters would be sweet..
