View Full Version : Angels Flight
Manila-X March 2nd, 2006, 05:28 AM I had the chance to ride Angels Flight when I was in LA. It's a firnicular tram that takes you to the top of Bunker Hills right in the heart of downtown.

Fern~Fern* March 2nd, 2006, 05:37 AM "How scary" :runaway:
Manila-X March 2nd, 2006, 05:40 AM Honestly, the ride isn't scary at all :) It's actually slow and there are hardly any passengers on board.
Fern~Fern* March 2nd, 2006, 05:51 AM I really don't want to come out on the 11 O'clock news when this train malfunctions again.
LANative March 2nd, 2006, 06:03 AM The Angels Flight in the last picture is right across from Grand Central Market I believe.
svs March 2nd, 2006, 06:39 PM Anyone have an update on plans to reopen Angel's flight?

I think it was the old ticket station. There is a ticket station on top now if they ever reopen it.
I believe you (MW) are currently in living in Chicago. If you ever get a chance, take a day trip to Dubuque, IA, (I am not kidding.) There is a very similar funicular located there that takes folks from the level of the Mississippi river to the town on the bluffs above the river. Its very similar to Angel's flight except it's working.

I think it's operational. The last time I rode it was back in 2001. I don't know about today.

Don't think so. There was a accident a couple of years ago. The brakes failed and at least one passanger was killed. We were promised it would be back in operation soon. Hasn't happened yet. I wish we moved people around our hills as efficiently as you guys do in HK.

I wouldn't know since I haven't been to LA since 2002. But again, do you need to take Angels Flight to reach the top? People can just walk and it's good for the health :D

Do you have a reference article? I can't remember seeing anything recently. I have a feeling the real problem is insurance but nobody is talking.
