Al Ghorfa Tower and Al-Ghofa Tower (http://www.emporis.com/en/wm/bu/?id=212429) are they the same project ??

Yeang’s firm, TR Hamzah & Yeang, already has a presence in Kuwait through his work at Al-Ghofa, a 43-storey tower complex owned by the Al-Safat Corporation.

I found some more information about this tower by serendipity. I found kind of an assignment set for the students of the University of Hawaii which requested for them to design a tower which would be around 40F (height limit in that time). The tower was called Al Gofa Tower and is located on the old site of the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce on Ali Al Salem St.

The area of the project is 1500 m2 and would have a total gross area of 13,800 m2. The designing firm is TR Hamzah & Yeang of course.

1500 m2 does not seem to be enough to build the three towers. So I would guess that they must have been given more land to build this tower.

Yeang’s firm, TR Hamzah & Yeang, already has a presence in Kuwait through his work at Al-Ghofa, a 43-storey tower complex owned by the Al-Safat Corporation. Last month the corporation asked him to masterplan a further 15 acres on the site.

But all of this info was obtained in 2004 so what happened after this? I dunno. Maybe the renders that we saw were a redesign after the height limit was changed ?

I think that Al Ghorfa and Al Ghofa towers are the same. The owner, Al Safat Real Estate Company, is under negotiations with the municipality to get approvals for this project. This was said in today's newspaper by the Chairman of the company. So this means that the company is still wanting to go through with this project :)

Here's the link to the company's website (http://www.alsafatinvest.com/alsafat/alsafat-group/real-estate/al-safat-real-estate/) talking about this project.

Yeah I know that's what I like about TR Hamzah & Yeang's towers. They look very environmentally friendly.
