Here are some of the photos I collected over time, I think they are interesting because they are mostly current and of views of Belgrade not usually considered or seen. They are of extraordinary quality for what is available out there and incude some artistic shots of people and city ambients that are simply amazing. A lot of the shots are night shots which in it self is a rarity amongst the standard imagery of the city.

Btw, my keva went to the same osnovna as you tho' I have a feeling you're a bit younger than her :) It's been renovated thanks to a former pupil, who went to the US, got rich and decided to do something for his old school.. :D

Yes I think I may be younger, I started there in mid 80's in pretskolsko! I heard about the renovation, I am not sure what they did with the interior. It was quite the school, with representative staircases, full of light, large windows, broad rooms and classrooms that were stately. We also had a ceremony room, and a huge dining hall, the yard was very pretty too attached to the yards of the French embassy and the cathedral church, I remember whenever we'd go to the park with our class we'd pass by the embassy side doors and every single one of us would ring the bell, the embassy officials would get so pissed they would send someone to stand there when we pass by so we don't annoy them. That is definitely my favourite neighbourhood. I just remember another structure by Jelisaveta Nacic, the staircase entrance to Kalemegdan park promenade at the corner of Pariska and Karadjordjeva with a drinking fountain. I think she also designed the church of St. Alexander Nevski near the First Belgrade Grammar School...(I went there too btw!).

Now with Saint Sava, the modern but worn out national library needs to be torn down...a more fitting building needs to be built there.

These pictures :ohno: And they say Prague and Budapest are beautiful :okay: These are probobly the best pictures of Belgrade, shows the true beauty.

Belgrade is no Prague or Budapest...but at least it ain't boring! There was never enough money or stability in Serbia to embark on great architectural projects...there were some ambitious plans in the beginning of 20'th century that promised some sexy solutions but of course, corruption, war and cousins happened and we all kneo the rest is history.
