I've been visiting the site for months. There was a VERY deep hole to begin with, and now construction is powering along. Look forward to seeing completion!

CULWULLA March 5th, 2003, 06:43 AM yeah this was a devlopemnt the council were involved with for a couple of years. I did so many models of the complex. i kept having to cut it down in height to 30m due to complaints from residence behind on kent street. the Apartment block is a 12storey/36m apartment block which will be added to Sydney's ss.com count.
Fabian March 5th, 2003, 07:46 AM What was the height of the original proposal?
CULWULLA April 1st, 2003, 05:01 AM Sydney's latest 12storey+ scraper just scrapes in at 12storeys/33m. . Ive taken some good construction pix today which ill post tonight. the core is already above street with 5 storeys below grd.
cheers

as you can see the core is already 6 floors high above basement.

Fabian June 30th, 2003, 06:34 AM How many stories high are both towers now?

<tr><td align=left valign=top>How many stories high are both towers now?</td></tr>

i think there both 6-7 storeys.
Fabian June 30th, 2003, 07:00 AM That means the office tower has another floor to go and the apartment tower is half complete.
fro July 8th, 2003, 12:37 AM I noticed these on my walk down that side of the city a few weeks ago... I must say, they are very nice looking "towers". It's a shame they aren't much taller.
Keep the pics coming :D
climbing_crane July 8th, 2003, 05:59 AM They can't be taller because of the apartments behind.
Fabian July 8th, 2003, 11:18 AM To hear that they cannot build higher because it will block people's view is a disgrace. They should always be reminded that the view is not guaranteed and can easily be blocked out.
climbing_crane July 9th, 2003, 12:48 PM Was just my guess.
You can see these lovelies on the right.http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid69/p863257d45e94d35944a9a809f9470f24/fbb85963.jpg

You used to get sunburnt on those stairs. Not anymore. I reckon that's a unique site. I can't think of any other construction site where the scaffolding goes above a stairwell.:? :? :? :? :?
Fabian July 16th, 2003, 10:09 PM I didn't know there was another staircase in the area. Where can you find this one?
climbing_crane July 17th, 2003, 12:39 PM Just to the left of the silver car in the first pic of my last post.

Look between the core and crane of lower building to the roof of the nearly complete one. Now does anyone know why they put a tree up there? Very odd.

CULWULLA November 1st, 2003, 12:57 PM bump! these must be close to completion?
ill see if i can get pix next week.
Fabian November 1st, 2003, 09:59 PM That tree could be from a laneway which is elevated above Hickson St.

stevec November 6th, 2003, 10:26 AM Thats right builders always put trees on the building when it tops out. We supplied the tree to Lend Lease and helped them put it up. The best one we did was when Walter Constructions put one up the top of the forum at St Leonards, that was high up!
climbing_crane November 6th, 2003, 11:45 PM Awesome. And welcome to the forum.
climbing_crane December 11th, 2003, 11:44 AM The longer building Lend Lease will occupy has had most of its covers removed at last. Not bad looking.

CULWULLA December 11th, 2003, 12:20 PM it better be a good looking building for the money LL payed for it! Its also supposed to be the most advanced office block in Australia when completed next year!
the tree topping is a very old custom going back many years. It supposed to give the bldg good luck ect.
climbing_crane December 17th, 2003, 09:12 AM Not a bad looker this one.

CULWULLA February 2nd, 2004, 02:08 AM apparently these two bldgs are completed now? anyone a recent pic?
climbing_crane February 3rd, 2004, 09:55 AM There both complete but those damn covers are still on them. 3 levels have been taken off the thinner apartment building at present. Pretty much all covers are off the commercial one. Takes alot of time to undress a building. I'll grab some pics tomorrow if I go to work.
CULWULLA February 3rd, 2004, 10:06 AM thanks cc!
climbing_crane February 4th, 2004, 11:29 AM As promised pics from today. They both look good. Lend Lease are building some awesome buildings lately, Distillery/Quarry, BT Tower and these ones.

ParraMan February 4th, 2004, 07:55 PM Excellent :applause:
Good work LL, an excellently crafted building that Sydney deserves, but so hidden.....
CULWULLA March 25th, 2004, 04:27 AM today! finally complete!
turned out brilliant!

fro March 29th, 2004, 07:25 AM Damn these look nice! See, Sydney CAN do this sort of stuff. Shame it's only the short buildings that get this sort of interesting facade work. I love it, a real classy pair of mini-towers. Apparently there's an awesome sandstone feature wall in the foyer of the Lend Lease HQ. I might have a look some time this week...
Top pics CC! :D
Fabian March 29th, 2004, 08:45 AM It opened today!!!! There was even an ad in the Herald to announce the opening.
There was also an article about the complex in the herald on Saturday and featured a pic of the entrance of the complex with the sandstone wall. Very nice.
