Halawala March 22nd, 2006, 10:34 AM This is a pic of Al-Majed Tower and Shopping Center which is supposed to be B+G+14 stories which is in Old Al-Ghanim Area. I apologize if this had already been posted, as I could not find it. Sorry for the horrible pic since i managed to take a photo at the last second before turning in one od Doha's roundabouts.

DOHA • Capitalising on Qatar's economic boom and an increase in the number of travellers visiting Qatar, a new four-star hotel is set to come up in the city and will open its doors in March next year.
The hotel, to be called Swiss-Belhotel International Doha, Suites and Residences, will be located a mere five minutes from the airport between the banking district and the old city centre. The Corniche will be a five-minute walk from the hotel.
The property will be owned by the Abdullah Al Majid Establishment and the management contract has been awarded to the Hong-Kong based Swiss-Belhotel International.
The property will follow a twin tower concept and has 17 floors built on a podium which will house shops selling well-known brands. The hotel will have 185 rooms, executive lounges and speciality restaurants. The property has been designed by Badih and Kantar of Beirut.
The hotel will also have fitness facilities, a swimming pool, basement parking, business centre and a 300-square metre ballroom.
The deal was signed yesterday by Ghazi Abdulla Ali Al Majid and Swiss-Belhotel President Gavin M Faull. Also present at the signing was Swiss-Belhotel Vice-President for Development and Operations (Middle East) Edgar Solenthaler.
Faull told media the Doha property will be the company's third in the Middle East. As of now, Swiss-Belhotel operates 18 hotels worldwide accounting for 4,000 rooms. "We are on the fast track here in the Middle East and in India and China. In two years we should have 50 hotels and 6,000 rooms," said Faull.
He highlighted that though new to the Middle East, the Hong Kong company brings with it progressive and new ideas added to the fact that it is a "fresh" brand.
Solenthaler stated the company recently entered into an agreement for a hotel in Kuwait and a resort in Sharjah. A new property is set to come up in Dubai and a spa/resort in Saudi Arabia overlooking the Red Sea.
Swiss-Belhotel also manages properties in the Philippines, China, Vietnam, Malaysia and Indonesia.
