Cool wee video made by group of students with this guy racing the subway train between Buchanan St and St Enochs:

hey mate thats for posting that - i originally posted that video on the Glasgow Rail News thread on Christmas day no less, but the link for it doesn't work anymore. So thanks for posting it again - it's a cracking wee video indeed....

I reckon Cowcaddens to Buchanan street is do-able aswell - the train goes so slow between those stops I think I could take it on a bike :D

Anyone up for filming me? Lol :)

you could also try west street to shields road? Me thinks!

don't think anyone's tried it at Embmankment - Charing Cross. though, the miles of tunnels to walk/run would make it virtually impossible to do...

Yes way indeed. I don't suppose anyone knows why the train slows down so much between those two stops?

The best I can come up with is that it slows down to reduce the vibrations the train creates when it goes under the residential areas between the stations.

I'm probably quite far off the mark, though.

I wondered this myself a while back... HG had the answer ;)

Something i've always wondered about: why do the trains slow down so much between Cowcaddens and St Georges Cross? And why does it smell so bad there? Is there a main sewer line there or something?

There's a very tight curve just to the west of Cowcaddens station, requiring trains to slow down to a crawl. Dunno what could be causing the smell though.

Apparently the smell is caused by fungus growing in the walls...
