There are metal 8 foot poles that have recently been put in all along Alexandria Parade and Duke Street. Does anyone know what they are for?

They are erecting a fence to protect the nicer newer developments in Dennistoun from the rest of the East End. Seriously no I dont know what they are for - low-level street lighting?

Yeah I considered that, the only thing is that they are not spaced out consistently. Also, some are next to the road and some are at the back of the pavement. Definitely a possibility though.

The only other thing I considered was maybe that it had something to do with the new Fastlink bus service?

I don't think Fastlink is going anywhere near that part of town mate - it's mainly for the Clyde corridor.

My only other suggestions are either they're for CCTV cameras, or maybe just for mounting banners on (similar to George Square).

Did you know that with over 4.5 million CCTV cameras in the UK, we have more cameras watching us per head of population (1 camera for every 14 people, approx) than any other country in the world? The average Londoner can expect to be caught on CCTV 300 times every day.

Sends a chill down my spine.

Yeah I thought that too, but a bus stop in Duke Street with a digital display in it has a message saying "Fastlink coming soon".

Interesting but doesn't concern me at all.

Is it not faststream, or streamline, or something similar? I don't think it says fastlink. Strealine/faststream is, as I'm sure you know, a thingimajig that tells you which bus is coming next and how long it will be till it comes.

On the second thing, yeah I know I went away off on a hue tangent. Just one of those random late night moments.

Ahhh yes it will be one of those that I read. Whoops.

No bother, it was an interesting fact. :)

They are all over my area now, for new cycle lanes.

I wish you'd stayed banned. Anyway re: the poles... are you from this area? I live in Roslea Drive, and noticed them also. Had no idea what they were/are, the spacing makes no sense whatsoever. They've been rebuilding bus stops but these poles seem unrelated.

There are also a few at the foot of Craigpark, at the corner of Annfield Place, and these ones have lights on them facing downwards, as if they are to be fitted with a sign of somekind.

They are defo not for hanging banners, or low level lightening, although I would love to see these features reach Dennistoun.

I'm sure it's something big-brother-ish. Most likely x-ray cameras so they can see you naked or something similar.

I got banned cos the mods mistook me for one of your pal's aliases due to my low post count.

You are probably about a maximum of 200 yards away from me right now.
