Got this off the football ground forum, a new ground for Leigh Centurians and Leigh RMI FC.

http://www.leighsportsvillage.co.uk/230306.htm

Capacity is 10000 seats.

Leigh is about 8 miles West of Manchester near Wigan. A traditional Rugby town Centurions might fill it if they get to the Super League again but Leigh RMI struggle with attendances under 200 and are in the relegation zone of the conference north.

It looks quite good but why is it all seater? I said the same thing about the Salford new stadium. I could understand if it was going to be shared with a top 2 tier football club. There is no ban on standing at rugby so I can't see the point in stopping peoples freedom of choice over whether they can stand or not.

Why are cinemas all seater? Standing is old fashioned and on the way out.

10,000 is a good size for the Leythers. Maybe it is all seater because of Leigh RMI having aspirations of reaching Div 2?

By the way, standing isn't old fashioned at all. Warrington's ground, brand new, has standing. It's good being able to switch ends when watching your team, or seeing a couple of old pals and being able to wander over and say hello, things like that.

Well the new Leigh Sports Village is pretty much complete now.

As per the debate on here the stadium that was built has 3 seated stands and 1 terraced end due to fan demand.

The site also has;
a 400m athletics track and covered sprinting facility,
3rd Generation floodlit grass and artificial pitches and a multi use games area,
a sports and leisure complex including a swimming pool,
3 star 135 room hotel,
new branch of the Wigan & Leigh College.

Also includes office space and conference facilities in the stadium, with additional retail - and hopefully a cinema - to come.

The stadium is 10,000 - 12,000 capacity due to 1 end being terraced.
It hosts Leigh Centurions RLFC, Leigh "Genesis" FC (used to be Leigh RMI but crackpot new chairman changed it) and Blackburn Rovers Reserves.

The Leigh Sports Village is also likely to be the 2012 Olympics training base for the Ukrainian team.
