Think that Hanoi has much more underconstructed projects than Saigon.
coolink April 1st, 2006, 03:00 PM my grandmommy, she "xa hanoi nam len 19 khi vua biet iu"....she said hanoi is small, dirty and too much painful memories.....it's saigon that feels cosmopolitan...modern and rich
I guess time has changed huh? oh hanoi .....ce la vie ce la vie ...hehe
(could someone translate that? I just heard it on TV, not sure what it means)
Saigoneseguy April 1st, 2006, 08:30 PM Think that Hanoi has much more underconstructed projects than Saigon.
Still, the latter is always the best place to live. :)

Saigon is always the biggest city in Vietnam, although Hanoi's growing very very fast :)
Anyway, I prefer Hanoi than Sai Go`n

The height limit is making nicer streets.
Pelerin_au_tonkin April 6th, 2006, 12:14 AM do u really think that there is a height limit...?
blue_milkyway88 April 7th, 2006, 11:34 AM So many buildings and projects in Ha Noi and Sai Gon now, actually I feel dizzy when see the development of two cities with many many buildings, unlike in my hometown Vung Tau growing rather slowly on property market.
I think the investor should invest to another city not too much in two cities
Saigoneseguy April 7th, 2006, 01:55 PM I beleive there is a height limit, just look at the picture, there are only two things to make households to build their house perfectly at the same height (in Vietnam we usually build our own house): one is a height limit, or there might be a strict, voluntarily respect of urban environment and aesthetics, and that's what they never practice.
coolink April 7th, 2006, 11:33 PM I'm not sure and not saying which has more construction......but like they said saigon is 4 times bigger than Hanoi and most people owned a home in saigon....even if they are shack made out of cheap materials....in hanoi because of the cold winter people couldn't afford to put up houses with cheap material like saigon so they stay within their family....sometimes 3-4 generations live under 1 roof....so now they get the chance to move out they will......result is the booming of highrise apartments
Saigon already had what hanoi didn't....so people don't really need to move or buy new houses they're happy with the slumps

I do-not-think-so, BANG :bash:
Have you ever heard of a place where is called "THANH NHAN" ?
And I'm 100% sure that there're many many huts in Hanoi :D
@Sa`i Go`n Monsooner: I think there's only one height limit for the area around Hoan Kiem Lake.
And, most of the houses have 5 or 6 storeys cos Those're enough for their family life.
