Madman April 3rd, 2006, 06:22 PM A long overdue refurbishment, the old arena was just an embarassment to London...
mrstar April 3rd, 2006, 07:16 PM Looking bang up-to date.
Wembley Arena will face some serious compition when the O2 Arena opens!
What's the capacity of Wembley Arena after the refurb?

manicants2004 April 3rd, 2006, 10:58 PM Great pics Bristol. I especially like the funky lamps in arena square.

About the same I think, around 12,500 seats. It depends on the configuration and if there is standing room. True about the O2 but I think it is great that we (London) will now have two fantastic multi-purpose arenas.
Sparks April 4th, 2006, 12:20 PM Take any pics of the stadium?
Ciudad Bristol April 4th, 2006, 12:38 PM Presumably the temporary Pavilion is coming down now?

wot bout Excel and London arena?
eddyk April 9th, 2006, 12:43 AM Earls Court?
Sparks April 9th, 2006, 03:17 PM London Arena is history now and Earls Court is a dump.
JDRS April 9th, 2006, 03:28 PM Looks good. I've been to the old one once or twice and it was completely shabby and definetely in need of this refurbishment and redevelopment.
There's a new 200 seat restaurant and bar overlooking a brand new square complete with fountains and lighting effects. Presumably the temporary pavillion is coming down soon.
Gavin April 9th, 2006, 03:41 PM I never realised it was so small. London certainly does need the o2 arena doesnt it..
Blindfold April 9th, 2006, 04:56 PM I thought Wembley Arena was built in the 50's but it was actually completed in 1934.
Dreadful concert venue though.
mrstar April 9th, 2006, 06:47 PM Has anyone been to a gig, wrestling or boxing match at Excel yet, if so, what was it like?
Also, what is Excel's capacity for such events?
Wembley Arena is going to suffer big time when the O2 opens up..
The o2 is bigger and in my opinion has better transport links to and from the west end and the city.
Earls Court despite it's size is it bit of a wreck. Very few concerts held here and I think their contract with the Brit Awards expired this year.
I think the o2 will become the busiest arena in this country, over taking the M.E.N

delores April 19th, 2006, 04:28 AM Well i am impressed, I hope the rest of the development around the stadium is up to this standard, when it gets built.
eddyk April 19th, 2006, 04:42 PM Job well done.
JDRS April 19th, 2006, 09:06 PM Went past this on the bus last week and it looks ALOT better. Also alot of work happening in this area and large parts closed off ready for the large project surrounding Wembley Stadium.
delores April 20th, 2006, 07:41 AM i think thats the housing where the old bingo hall was? could be wrong.
