Wow... :applause:
The Killer March 25th, 2011, 03:39 AM ^^ Beautiful
AUTOTHRILL April 19th, 2011, 08:40 PM My favourite stadium in the world, without a doubt, fantastic design and lighting!
Mo Rush April 19th, 2011, 09:30 PM Why no developments around the stadium?
www.sercan.de April 22nd, 2011, 01:03 PM No space?!?
Andrew_za April 22nd, 2011, 01:33 PM Beautiful venue, but some form of development around the stadium would be nice.
Definitely the Cape Town Stadium's big brother.
Rev Stickleback April 22nd, 2011, 10:15 PM It's pretty much on the very edge of the city. It's probably either not an area that's ripe for redevelopment, or it's an area the local government wants to keep free of development.
Munich's Red Pride July 2nd, 2011, 11:13 PM Do somebody have more official details about the mentioned capacity of 72.622 seat places, because official booklet of the stadium for arena guides don't tell anything about these capacity, only about 66.000 seat places.
And my other question, do somebody have an official explanation why the maximum capacity is 69.901 spectactors at german league matches? I often heared that this is due to emergency exits and safety-related. But i cant`find a official explanation about this.
And can somebody get the information about the plan of emergency exit in the allianz arena? because it must exist a strategy in some cases of incidents, so they must have an emergency exit strategy, how people can come outside and how much people can go through the different emergency exits and in whcih time?
And the other thing is, why the factor from seat places to standing areas in lower south and lower north stand is only 1 to 1.3. Is this the maximum because of a technical regulation of the city of munich ("Kreisverwaltungsreferat")? Because in some other german stadiums we have changing factors of e.g. 1 to 1.6 or 1 to 1.8.
muc July 4th, 2011, 01:59 PM I doubt the area around the stadium will see any significant development at all. It is situated next to 2 very busy Autobahns with a big junction, subway facilities, a big waste water treatment plant (you can smell that sometimes) and 3 landfills. A noisy and (mostly) ugly area. Not exactly the kind of place where any high profile development could be expected.
The reason that area was chosen for that stadium is that this was the only place available they were sure not to risk delays and legal issues because of NIMBYs complaining about noise and traffic.
maniacoargento August 14th, 2011, 09:28 PM Awesome stadium! :cheers2:

maschio August 20th, 2011, 07:05 PM I was at Allianz Arena last year and this stadium looks beautiful.
I defenitely must go there again to see it shining at night.
WesTexas August 20th, 2011, 07:49 PM This is one of my favorite stadiums in Europe and I would love to watch a game here.

Gobbo September 10th, 2011, 02:37 AM A nice and great stadium, at least what the interior concerns.
However I don´t really like the exterior, it doesn´t look like a football stadium, more like an UFO LOL
But it´s of course a matter of taste...but the interior looks great.

You're right, that's a matter of taste. But the special look of the exterior makes this stadium unique! And that's the great thing about it, you'll remember the stadium for ever when you see it the first time. There is no stadium like this on the whole world and that's the most special thing about this stadium. And the interior of the stadium is really beautiful, especially to watch a football game, you are very close to the flied no matter where you sit. the only problem is to get tickets :) so the stadium is just too small for Bayern München. for normal Bundesliga or Champions League games you can't get tickets

What is a commercial zone?
Well i have to admit the area around the Allianz Arena is not the most beautiful. motorway, some modern business buildings like the big Audi and T-com shop.
But Allianz Arena with the modern design fits perfectly to the area and i always enjoy walking to the Allianz Arena and watch the beauty.

robbery4774 February 6th, 2012, 08:25 PM i tak about restaurants etc...
Not really! people eat in Munich centre or inside the stadium before the match!

A stadium in a new area should have all of commodities
SpicyMcHaggis February 7th, 2012, 12:57 AM According to who? You..
Don't get offended.. but this thing that you do is getting annoying.. you base some stadiums value based solely on your personal preferences. Chill dude.
Stadium is in the middle of nowhere and its state of the arts facility. Who cares if theres some bloody restaurant near it? Why should it be there? Stadium has all the required facilities in it.
Axelferis February 7th, 2012, 01:11 AM are you stupid?
Where i said that it's a bad stadium?!
I just said that to build such a modern stadium without a commercial area around it is not so good because they a lot of space around.
Juve did it, lille has restaurants+hotels or offices close to the stadium and a lot of stadiums are built on this model today.
St denis, Wembley regeneration zone...
Where i criticized the quality of the stadium itself?!
SpicyMcHaggis February 7th, 2012, 01:58 AM Did i say that you criticized the stadium built quality? We are discussing its exteriors here..
Instead of insulting me you could read my post again.
Allianz Arena doesn't need that. Why would they build it? Just for the sake of it?
robbery4774 February 7th, 2012, 10:21 AM not good.

Well, there is simply not the need for a restaurant in the area. You can eat your french fries, sausages or Schnitzel inside the stadium or in front where they place some snack bars before the games. There is also a big restaurant inside the stadium and a big fan shop. So what do you need more before or after a football match??
people who want to eat something more exclusive will stay in the munich centre or rent a box in the Allianz Arena.
GEwinnen February 7th, 2012, 03:42 PM New stadiums in Germany are built on the egde of the cities, no ballyhoo around.....
You can eat and drink something in the stadium during a sightseeing tour.
Werkself February 7th, 2012, 03:53 PM And most of them were built on old Athletic grounds which were located on the outskirts. This season Leverkusen is the only ground in the Bundesliga which is build next to regular housings.

There is a good argument to be made that developments made around new stadiums like these should be 'organic', meaning that they should happen as a natural result of a demonstrated need rather than as a mass project built all at once by one company. These mass projects are what take the character out of a city and turn areas into depressing, generic, cookie cutter tracts.

Do you have an image of the distance between the goalline and the stand behind the goal? It always looks very close on the TV, but I'm guessing it is probably the same as that above. I'd check myself but I cannot find any of those graphics that show the distance between the stand and the goalline at various stadia.
www.sercan.de February 7th, 2012, 06:28 PM As far as i know its 7,5m at the goal stands and 6m at the east and 9m at the west (the stand timo9 posted)

Thanks Sercan. I also like that the front rows are above pitch level, therefore allowing those seated there to see the nearside action over the advertising hoardings. They don't seem to think about stuff like that when designing stadiums in the UK.

Yes, because of the advertising boards, you cannot see the line at some english stadiums.
But its not so bad. Just some cm.

Yes it is, but now FIFA says:
-Goal line:
7,5m min, but 10m optimum
-touch line
6m min, but 8,5m optimum
Thanks to that update many stadiums use 8,5m / 10m or even more :(

That's only a problem at older grounds, and it's only a problem for champions league games, where the boards are higher.
Many are actually netted off because they are too close, rather than being below the level of the advertising boards. You don't tend to see the front rows closed off for league games, just CL ones.

That's true but the fans of 1860 hate the arena! They want their own stadium or return to the "Stadion an der Grünwalder Straße".
The stadium is owned by FC Bayern and 1860 is just rent the arena. When it was built, the stadium belonged to both teams but 1860 had to sell their shares of the stadium to Bayern, because they were not able to pay the bills for the stadium. So FC Bayern bought the stadium shares of 1860 for 11,6 million €.

Just like Matze said, it's hard to brag about being in deep sh.t. Because this is what Allianz Arena means for TSV - way too big to cope for the club and at the same time too small for Bayern. Cannot blame the fans and authorities of the club for trying to leave that place.

robbery4774 March 20th, 2012, 05:51 PM Bayern's matches are sold out?
Always! with the start in 2005 every Bayern match in the bundesliga was sold out. Even if we play in the second round of the domestic cup against a small club from the german second league 60.000 come.
For big CL or Bundesliga games there are sometimes 200.000 - 300.000 requests
The away games of Bayern are also sold out for years... So difficult to get tickets
Allianz Arena is way too small for Bayern, we could easily fill a 90.000 for regular games, when Dortmund can fill their 80.000 stadium.
Maybe Real, Barca or United have more worldwide fans, but when it comes to "real" fans who want to see their club in the stadium we are most popular worldwide.
Elad_A March 20th, 2012, 06:20 PM Are there any talks about Bayern leaving the Alianz Arena?

Matze20111984 March 20th, 2012, 06:28 PM Are there any talks about Bayern leaving the Alianz Arena?
Why should Bayern leave the Allianz Arena? The arena is new, modern and owned by Bayern. 1860 Munich isn't happy in the arena but they can't pay building an own stadium and have a longterm contract with the Allianz Arena Stadion GmbH.
Elad_A March 20th, 2012, 06:31 PM People are saying it's too small for Bayern.
SpicyMcHaggis March 20th, 2012, 06:38 PM Indeed.. why on earth would Bayern leave Allianz Arena? They've just built it for gods sake..
Matze20111984 March 20th, 2012, 07:19 PM People are saying it's too small for Bayern.
It is, we could fill at least 80,000 per game but it is ok, the way it is. If we would change the ratio of seats to standing, we could fill in 80,000, but as far as I know the authorities in Munich doesn't allow that. Our stadium is already as big as the stadium of Borussia Dortmund (80,000) but only for international games. For international games we can put 66,000 in the Allianz Arena, Dortmund can just put 65,718. Dortmund can get more into their stadium for national games because they sell much more standing tickets
PaulFCB March 20th, 2012, 08:48 PM People are saying it's too small for Bayern.
They could move back to Olympiastadion and renovate it by adding a 2nd floor to it, sell only standing tickets behind the goals and they could even hit 100k .

MrChavcore May 12th, 2012, 02:39 PM it'd be nice to see the colours of chelsea and bayern represented in the cladding for the champions league final. does anyone know if it is possible to do this?

It would be possible, yes, since Chelsea has the same club colors as the second club playing there: 1860 München.

Because those colors are used often by Bayern!?
Vizemeister May 12th, 2012, 11:45 PM The use of the colours is restricted by the vicinity of the Autobahn. In the earliest beginning they experimented with changing colours and patterns, resulting in many car crashes due to drivers not paying attention to the traffic(same reason why Germany does not allow ad boards near autobahns). Therefore they may only show red, white or blue OR change the colour every half hour. To display this small band of the UEFA final colours they have to change layers of the existing lights.
master_klon May 13th, 2012, 11:01 AM Unless UEFA forces them to use certain colours, they might as well keep it as Bayern Munich's red.

Same thing in Sweden when H&M had posters of Anna Nicole Smith. Many drivers (male I suppose) drove off the road. :)

MrChavcore May 18th, 2012, 08:41 PM that banner is still disturbing me. you'd think with uefa's expertise with branding (which looks beautiful inside the stadium) they'd have come up with a better solution than that. at night its just going to look like a big black rectangle in the middle of a beautiful structure.

The alternative -removing the Allianz logo- is probably too expensive.
It is no big deal in the end.
Fizmo1337 May 18th, 2012, 10:15 PM Those pillars behind the goals are hideous. You see that in every german stadium and it looks so shit.
I know its probably for security reasons or whatever but it ruins the whole thing. Just leave it like in the English stadiums.
And yea, the banner on the allianz logo looks awful aswell.
For the rest it's a nice stadium though :) Should have gotten a CL final much earlier.

actually.. if i had been in charge of branding this stadium i'd have put a giant cut out of the champions league trophy over that allianz logo. it'd have fit over the stadium snugly and it'd continue the colour scheme of the cladding. but i guess thats just me being a graphic designer and loving symmetry.
Vizemeister May 18th, 2012, 11:41 PM I agree to MrChavcore. They should have placed a banner with the Final logo over it instead of that generic non-fitting UCL version.

N23SK May 20th, 2012, 02:24 PM Congrats to Chelsea, they show how football should be played if you're underestimate and don't have the same support as the other time. Maybe the game was a little bit boring at some periods of the game and Bayern had the possession, at the end of the day Chelsea are deserved winners just because they eliminate Barca, they made good comeback against Napoli and they had good match against Benfica.

Can't agree there with you there, my old fruit. think you will find their victory was down to an unprecedented amount of good fortune at the end of the day. Oddly, the way they have have performed recently I wouldn't even put them in Europe's best top ten teams, and there they sit as Champions of Europe. As one Englishman once famously said over here. " Football is a funny old game!"

Vizemeister May 20th, 2012, 11:08 PM With alot of make-up yes. Minus all the colourful boards it's a grey concrete and plastic wasteland surrounding a field of green inside.

They were not unprepared. Their capacities just reached the maximum possible. The fact that Bayern reached the final let the city be over crowded. Every capacity has its limits.
alexandru.mircea May 25th, 2012, 06:14 PM I wasn't there so I don't really know, but I find it hard to believe that it would have been difficult for them to supplement the metro trains, or create temporary bus lines for the event evening.
Vizemeister May 25th, 2012, 08:36 PM Hmm. Seems like they didn't learn a lesson from 2006, when similar reports about the metro situation during the WC games came out. But that's the thing when you build a stadium in the middle of nowhere...one way to come and one way to leave. A shame.

For the CL Finals, they always have a lower total capacity from the normal CL matches. A lot more media is in the stadium and seats get converted to accommodate them.
A lot of fans came in, 62,500 in the Allianz and I heard about 55,000 paid to watch at the Olympic Stadium.
