The Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe, also known as the Holocaust Memorial, is a memorial in Berlin to the Jewish victims of the Holocaust, designed by architect Peter Eisenman. It was opened in 2005 and is located one block south of the Brandenburg Gate.

The 19000 square meter (4.7 acre) site is covered with 2711 concrete slabs ("steles"), arranged in a grid pattern on a sloping field. The steles are 2.38m (7.8') long, 0.95m (3' 1.5") wide and vary in height from 0.2m to 4.8m (8" to 15'9"). They are designed to produce an uneasy, confusing atmosphere.

An attached underground "place of information" will hold the names of all known Jewish Holocaust victims, obtained from the Israeli museum Yad Vashem.

The cost of construction was approximately 25 million Euros.

I cannot value this one with the eyes, this is not aesthetic, I need to feel the sensations that made to take a walk between those blocks.

Complete waste of precious urban space in my opinion. I visited this site last year and it didn't impress me at all. Less than 3

Walk through it, and feel the atmosphere...I went there at night, and snapped this shot:

wow....very impactful.

We ahould also have something similar in the Americas for the murdered Native Americans in the New World - victims of European invasion and domination. And While we are at it another for the Slavery of the African people.

Not of course to diminish this one.

I can only imagine the poems , the concerts and works of wonders that we lost by allowing the murder of so many people.

The world would be a different place.

We should never forget.
