Those are some realy nice projects. Beunos Aires is very fortunate to have buildings like that going up.

This is a great time for doing property there after the crisis. Those projects are just stunning and good for BA, just keep them coming.

Productora plans grand means of inspiring activity with its Argentinean prized project


Set to invigorate and beautify a previously unmanaged patch of Argentinean land, the latest conception by Productora - ‘The Thermal Park’ - looks set to go ahead after receiving recent awards backing. Designed as an entrant to an Open National Competition instigated by the College of Architects of the Province of Buenos Aires, what especially marks this particular candidate is its ability to fully incorporate the landscape, whilst enhancing rather than marring the immediate surroundings.

The complex fully utilises, adapting slightly, a number of reliable elements from classical landscaping, such as: the retention of symmetrical balance for its gardens; the incorporation of a moderate, artificial mountain; and a labyrinth of walkways and canals, providing an abundance of traversable routes, by land or water. The Mexican architects elected for these ‘iconographic resources’ due to their proven track record in the histories of garden and park design.

In this small section of Dolores - a province of Buenos Aires - the impetus was on creating a project that would encourage and accommodate both indoor and outdoor activities. An excellent example of this is found in the proposed centralised aquatic park.

This contemporary fusion of new build with existing scenery, will offer users several interlinking routes down which to exercise; running, cycling, canoeing and swimming will all be feasible as ways of exploring the outdoor spaces. Two adjacent swimming pools, silently watched over by rows of sun loungers, will provide for those hoping for a quick dip, whilst a nearby lake allows for larger vessels to manoeuvre. Tennis courts, too, complete this list of energising facilities.

The architecture of the structures themselves has been envisioned as a harmonious ensemble of quiet and stealthy volumes. Although the façade can come across as quite serious and at points repetitive, the interior aims for a more varying quality, encompassing a number of architectonical compositions.

Helping to balance the transition from indoors to out, arcades act as shady porches, linking the two. A strongly open-plan nature has been bestowed on the whitewashed building’s exteriors - columns have been used in several instances - to achieve this same effect. It is hoped that potential future extensions could be easily assimilated, whilst maintaining the key, well-proportioned equilibrium.

El edificio ofrecerá comodidades especiales bajo la figura de Club Privado: pileta cubierta y descubierta, vestuarios, sala de masajes, sauna, ducha escocesa, microcine, sala de juegos y salón de fiestas para 200 personas, etc.
El nuevo developer es el empresario Florencio Aldery Iglesias, que también es dueño del famoso Hotel Hermitage de Mar del Plata, y del diario La Capital de la misma ciudad.

The 'Torre La Prensa' will have 20 floors, with units 2 and 3 rooms, some lofts 'on demand' and a few units of 4 environments. The building will provide special accommodations under the guise of private club, indoor and outdoor pool, locker rooms, massage room, sauna, Scottish shower, micro, game room and party room for 200 people, and so on.
The new developer is the employer Florencio Aldery Churches, which also owns the famous Hermitage Hotel in Mar del Plata, and the newspaper La Capital in the same city.

I want to thank you people for updating this thread. I have a huge interest in Buenos Aires, being half Argentinian (other half Dutch), and having spent about two weeks there last year (more in my earlier youth). I really want to see how it develops, especially as there is less and less going on here in Europe with the global financial crisis and eurocrisis.
My Spanish not being 100% up to snuff it's very exhausting trying to do so on the Argentinian forums (which aren't the most structured). So I want to implore proud Portenos to keep updating this thread to show of their great city!

Another question; it seems fairly obvious to me that Buenos Aires needs to heavily expand it's subway system (which is quite good but for example smaller in mileage than what we have in Rotterdam a city 1/10th the size). Especially in the area south of Autopista 25 de mayo, to make this more feasible has Buenos Aires ever considered building elevated lines? I know it's not ideal but I think an elavated line is better than no line, and the Chicago loves it's elevated system. Most of the Rotterdam system is elevated as well and it's comfortable, quiet and gives great views of the city on some sections.

I want to thank you people for updating this thread. I have a huge interest in Buenos Aires, being half Argentinian (other half Dutch), and having spent about two weeks there last year (more in my earlier youth). From what I understand is that they announced they are going to bury the Sarmiento commuter rail line in three phases over the next 46 months. And they have equipped a fairly huge TBM to do it

I used the Sarmiento line once last September when I was in BA to get from Moreno to Flores (Capital Federal) and while not particularly slow it ran completely at grade in very densely populated areas so it must be quite a nuisance for traffic. Hopefully they can increase speed and frequency if it runs underground and it will be a great boon for the areas and traffic trough which it ran. It's not clear to me wether they are going to integrate the system more with the metro/subte (line E) but I hope they will, currently the systems are totally separate. Both physically and commercially (tickets are not transferable).

Id does seem like they share your hatred of surface lines :p The way they are burrying the line all the way into the suburbs of Moreno. I agree that that is overkill and wastefull. Better to spend to money on burrying other lines closer to CF.

Do you know (or anyone) what the frequency's and speed is like on the Sarmiento line? I don't really remember (or paid attention last winter) when I rode it. And do you think when they burry it they are going to turn it into a metro? Seems kind of watefull to built an underground and not have it do metro frequencies or speeds. But I think they will do it (eventually).

They are two different areas, the subway it's a very dense zone (+20.000 hab./km2), but the FF.CC sarmiento not.

So nuevo Quilmes is a gated/closed community? Pretty reprehensible.

There are not many "skybars" in Buenos Aires... but I would recommend "A222 (http://www.a222.com.ar/)" and "Akira Sushi (http://www.restaurant.com.ar/main/masinfo.php?id=5046)", both of them located in the same building, nearby la Casa Rosada. You have a great view of Puerto Madero from the 21st and 22nd floor!

I'm pretty sure it's not.
Puerto Madero is not a gated community and this borders (or is part of) that.
It also has similar density (though Puerto madero has better/more lowirse).

I also think a gated community in that part of town (right bang next to city centre) would be very controversial.

PUERTOS DEL LAGO

Consultatio dará vida a la primera ciudad verde el país, con un desarrollo de más de 1.300 hectáreas en Escobar. La inversión será de U$S 500 millones.

El pasado 25 de octubre, Eduardo Costantini afirmó que para la adquisición de Puertos del Lago, en julio de 2007, se aplicó el mismo criterio que en la compra del predio de Nordelta, en 1998: “Hemos puesto mucha energía para desarrollar la Ciudad Pueblo, que desde su masterplan está concebida como una Eco Walking Community, con una importante conciencia ecológica, teniendo en cuenta las restricciones económicas que ello implica, que sea socialmente aceptable y lograr, a la vez, un bajo impacto de la intervención humana”, puntualizó.

El desarrollo abarca 1.371 hectáreas en total y está ubicado en el Km. 44 de la Panamericana Ramal Escobar. Estará conformado por colegios, centro médico, centro comercial, club deportivo, restaurantes, cancha de golf, lago central, pequeñas islas que funcionarán como albergue de fauna lacustre y 6 Km de costa del río Luján que se mantendrá como un corredor biológico con flora y fauna en estado puro.

Se integrarán conceptos de sustentabilidad que contemplan la separación en origen de los residuos, el cuidado de los lagos, el aprovechamiento del agua de lluvia y hasta la utilización de energías alternativas en ciertos edificios.

Por otro lado, todos los barrios estarán conectados sin necesidad de cruzar por la avenida de circunvalación, por lo que cualquier habitante podrá acceder al lago central, ya sea en bicicleta o caminando por una senda peatonal que recorre toda la Ciudad Pueblo con cruces debajo de la avenida troncal para fomentar el traslado de sus habitantes, sin necesidad de usar el auto.

La primera etapa se construirá en los primeros tres años, junto con el camino de acceso que unirá el emprendimiento con el kilómetro 44 del Ramal Escobar de la Panamericana, a través de una doble vía de 3 Km que tendrá un gran boulevard central, y que posibilitará construir un tercer carril por cada mano a futuro, en el que Consultatio invertirá U$S 5 millones. Se desarrollarán los primeros dos barrios, Vistas y Marinas; y toda la infraestructura, que incluye el club deportivo, la avenida troncal, el centro de informes y el lago central, el layout de las marinas y la bici senda.

“Hasta ahora se han invertido U$S 50 millones y se invertirán otros U$S 50 millones en esta primera etapa, que una vez terminada dará un sentido a la concepción de esta Ciudad Pueblo, con los distintos usos en marcha”, enfatizó Costantini.

El 6 de noviembre se pre-lanzarán dos barrios con una financiación del 30% al boleto y en 30 cuotas fijas en dólares. Los lotes se entregarán a fines de 2013, y el inicio de las obras está previsto para el primer trimestre de 2011.

El Distrito Tecnológico suma empresas

Dos nuevas empresas se agregan al Distrito Tecnológico de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires, donde ya hay radicadas 72: Novatech Solutions y Autoritas Consulting SA, una firma española de consultoría estratégica en el ámbito de las Tics.
En el caso de Novatech Solutions, la firma invierte US$ 1,5 millones en un edificio de tres plantas, de 2.100 m2, al que se mudará a fines de marzo. La empresa, es un referente nacional en fabricación de memorias RAM, dispositivos de almacenamiento flash, portarretratos digitales y sintonizadores de TV digital externos y mainboards de set top box.

La mudanza trae aparejada la incorporación de aproximadamente 100 personas al staff de la compañía, que le permitirán cumplir con la capacidad de producción generada por la demanda de un millón y medio de laptops educativas del programa Conectar Igualdad. Respecto de la instalación en Parque de los Patricios, Adrián Lamandía, presidente y CEO de Novatech sostuvo: “Seguimos apostando en nuestro país invirtiendo e incorporando mano de obra nacional especializada”.

Por su parte Autoritas Consulting SA, con sede en Madrid, tendrá en Buenos Aires su punta de lanza hacia el mercado latinoamericano, para mejorar la capacitación de las administraciones y de las empresas en general, para establecer modelos de relación óptimos con empleados, clientes y usuarios, a través de herramientas y expertos que analizan las redes.

Can anyone elaborate a bit more on the technological district? In English if possible. It looks pretty good from what I can see, but how does it compare to other such districts in LatAm (Sao Paolo, Mexico City, Santiago.. Bogota?). And worldwide. There's been a lot of talk and writing lately about the silicon roundabout in London which is quickly developing. Is this something similar?
