Anyway, Zagreb is a great city. The lower city centre consists of an well preserved core styled on grand Viennese architecture. On the other hand, the upper city is a marvelous warren of medieval streets and buildings.

Of course there is also modern Zagreb which is slowly developing 2 highrise clusters located at either end of Vukovarska Street which is the core commercial zone of the city. :)

I've been in Zagreb this year, and I really must say i did underestimate it before.
Zagreb is a totally unknown city in The Netherlands.
Unfortunately for the rating, Zagreb doesn't have a very great skyline yet, but i have no doubts that this will come!
It is a very nice city, and for those who don't know it, really nice to visit.
It still is a bit messy, but don't bother. It is a upcoming country, which has been at war.

What you see on the pic is lake Bundek, and a recently fixed up park. Behind it is a horse race track (hypodrome)! The golf complex is three-four kilometers to the west, south of the lake Jarun. ;)

Greater Zagreb with all the adjacent attached urban areas actually comes to 1.2 million. The city is 40 kms across from east to west. :)

The skyline is fairly broad and scattered and in the coming few years will evolve in two highrise clumps. :)

There are a number of towers in the making and also planned.

Wow! This is the first time I have seen photos of this city. I'm quite surprised, given the impression American media gives of the Balkan region. Great skyline for a European city this size! 8/10

Greater Zagreb with all the adjacent attached urban areas actually comes to 1.2 million. The city is 40 kms across from east to west. :)

The skyline is fairly broad and scattered and in the coming few years will evolve in two highrise clumps. :)

There are a number of towers in the making and also planned.

I think that it's more correct that Zg has 900 000 in city and 1,2 in metro. That's what new statistics say. :cheers:

the best pic of Zagreb is not here... it is the pic taken from the lower left position of this mate's photo, on a nice sunny day, with a tele lens...

it should show the old part of the city, including the cathedral and st mark's in the middle plane, behind it would be sljeme with it's tower, and in the front plane you'd have the railway station and the modern buildings of the city hall, concert hall and the national library... in the middle is the green grass...

if i have some time, i'll go and get a nice photo

it actually is not a skyline, it should rather be a hill-line, as the best part of zagreb's skyline is that the background is not the sky but Sljeme mountain. the best place to take this picture is from the right middle of the north slope of the middle Sava bridge, crossing from S-N.
