Taken today, sun was in the way a bit, and my battery ran out, so will try and get some more later in the week.

Back of what used to be Myer Coorparoo, then Mega Mart and now Harvey Norman

Maybe Myer still own the building, hence the sign.
Bit of history I found about it,

Premier Nicklin officially opened the Myer Coorparoo Shopping Centre, a complex of several units, in 1960. 560 guests attended. It consisted of Myer (now Megamart), a BCC supermarket (now the annex to Megamart on the west), and a Woolworths store. Woolworths was remodelled and extended after the Roxy Theatre was demolished in the late 1960s and is now the Coorparoo Mall

Cavendish Road, or Cav Road as all the locals call it.

Great place for a curry, the Curry Hut, in a very old style petrol station site

Looks pretty down in a lot of parts. They really need to sink the rail line.

Yer iam a long term resident of coorparoo/norman park and have to say the main area of coorparoo is very shabby, and has been as long as i can remember. Although parts of coorparoo is industrial, an effort should be made to better its appearence.

It's a little shabby down near all the panel beaters around the train station but I think most of Coorparoo is actually pretty good.

I'll try and get some cheerier shots next.

By "sink the rail line" do you mean put it underground?

Yes, it means to put the rail line below grade.

Well that would be good, in fact what they should do is a branch line running off the Cleveland line around Buranda and going Stones Corner, Coorparoo (upper), Camp Hill, Carina, Carindale and maybe even Capabala. But I think that is a long, long way off.

I'd be more than happy with an underground line in the city going to the Gabba (as planned) for now.

Wow... that Red Rooster (on the left, second last pic), i've been there when I was in Brisbane the last time. *memories* :) Thanks for the pics, really great to see pics of places you've been at. You can find heaps of pics from the CBD but the memories are with the places you lived at. Does anyone have some pictures from Holland Park? :D

On that note, i have dreamed of this line for many a day! lol....i do have a life! i swear!!

the line should be.... cleveland (splits from line before turning bend to ormiston station), Alexandra Hills(somewhere in between the shopping centre and TAFE), Capalaba(in between Capalaba Park and Central), then on to Carindale(directly under Shopping Centre's bus terminal), and then on as you say to Carina, Camp Hill, eventually connecting with underground at gabba, etc....i wouldnt know ideal locations for these stops. IMO, desperately needed, ATM to catch the train have to go al the way out to Woop Woop (Wynumn, etc) before coming back to the city. This line would be much more direct.

Obviously, a dream....and would be very expensive if it ever did happen - land resumption...however, alot of it could be underground. Some of it would definitely have to be underground.

I used to live in Coorparoo years ago so that used to be my original stomping ground.

We used to call it "6 Pack City" because in many parts thats all you see - 6 pack apartment blocks.
