Koweitien April 20th, 2006, 05:23 PM Thanks a lot for the info Skoulikimou. The tower looks quite good. It's good to see that they have incorporated the design of Universal Tower into their design because they are very close to each other :)

safqa_tijariya July 19th, 2006, 04:03 PM very slow...
CrazY July 19th, 2006, 04:28 PM why doesn't the construction have a crane or something ?!
ahmedjam July 19th, 2006, 05:38 PM GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD POINT Crazy 3mal ga3ed yebnona LOOOOOOOOOOL, GOD give them one crane :)
Mu9ai3ibun July 20th, 2006, 03:29 PM Yeah, why is it slow, and yeah CrazY it seems pretty weird that there is no crane.
safqa_tijariya July 20th, 2006, 04:19 PM maybe its construction cost? a crane costs from 3000 to 30000$ US to rent it and the driver is paid between 15 000$ to 35 000$ an hour...
YeMeNi_guy July 21st, 2006, 07:20 AM isnt it impossible to make a building without a crane?

CrazY August 8th, 2006, 12:28 AM why is it stuck to universal tower ?? this is the only tower in kuwait which is on my nerves :mad2: :wallbash:
Dhari August 8th, 2006, 06:34 AM nice....
thank you.
chix_love August 8th, 2006, 09:03 AM I think the crane was not used for cntruction bcz of its slanting pillars or the crane might bash the universal tower
ahmedjam August 8th, 2006, 12:39 PM this is not an excuses, chix love, but what wrong with us guys, it's getting built :bash:
chix_love August 8th, 2006, 07:35 PM man !! the construction of this building is too SLOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :bash: :runaway: :weirdo:
ahmedjam August 8th, 2006, 08:12 PM yeah indeed it's slow "with out crane" and here we go again :)
ChaoticTranquility August 8th, 2006, 09:04 PM is the building's contractor/builder a company or a person?
building something this big without a crane is usually done to save costs. i lived in New Delhi, India for six years, and all of the city's construction was done WITHOUT a crane.
prime example: there was a government hotel in downtown New Delhi, known as the Kanishka. it was a four-star place that opened in the 1970s, but it was falling apart everywhere. in 2003, world-famous hotel chain Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts took over the hotel's management and shut down the building to give it a thirty-two million dollar makeover. this involved knocking down the exterior and completely rebuilding and redesigning the hotel's interior. the place was scheduled to open in December 2004.
the end result: it opened in early 2006. the reason: the hotel's reconstruction was done without a crane. the interior work wrapped up very quickly, but the seventeen-floor building's exterior had to be reworked with SCAFFOLDS. i kid you not, workers literally had to climb seventeen flights of stairs, get to the roof of the building, roll huge tarps down the front of the building to conceal the work, and go all the way down and work their way to the top. in early 2005, there was a heavy monsoon and rainstorm, and it literally tore the scaffolding off the front. MAJOR SETBACK: this all had to be set up again and work had to resume. all this because the contractor wanted to save a few thousand dollars rather than rent a crane.
seems like this tower's going through the same phase as the Shangri-La did.
oh well, not the first time Kuwait tries to cut corners and save money.
sorry for the pessimism, i'm getting sick of all of this "save money, cancel this, put that on hold, we have to restudy this" concept that's holding the country back.

^^warba tower will be using solar power energy
