This building looks very unique. I would love to stay there sometime. How would this hotel compare to one like Burj Al Arab? I know the Burj Al Arab has alot of status.

there are 24 towers over 300m APP/UC/COM in Dubai. no wonder u haven't seen them all ;)

give or take a few, not all might be built (for example Najd's plot was appearantly sold to another developer), but there are more in the pipeline.

April 16th is the latest picture so far. You can't really make out much however.

This is probably my favorite tower underconstruction anywhere right now!! I absolutly love the massing and how the base works with the rest of the tower.

Nice design. I like it, 306 meter-tall is awesome too.

Architect is ATKINS, the same firm that designed the Burj Al Arab Hotel.

Ive stayed at the Burj al Arab and the views from there were pretty impressive and hard to beat. Looking out over The Palm Jumeriah is a nice view don't u think...Then on the other side I'm sure you'll be able to see The World once done

and look at the other cores, i think they are for the 6-7 storey basement of the tower, which is likely to have more than one elevator shaft.

^^ Considering how huge the podium is, the approximity of the three cores to each other and the simultanious progress, the two on the side should be the levator shafts serving the podium floors, while the big central one serves the main building till the top.

This is one of the very few buildings that are being built in dubai that i find interesting and stylish.

^lol its about the only one i find totally hideous, its a building to look out of, the views from inside will be great.

Thats pile loading test.

Basically after completing a pile (drilling the hole, puting the metal bars pile inside and pouring the concrete to reinforce it) they test it if it will support the weight of the building. They have calculated how much weight will be transfered to that specific pile by the building above (when build) so they build a platform above it and put all concrete block till it reaches the calculated weight (in thousands of tons) and they monitor the pile with sophisticated measurement equipments, if it moves or bend or if the structure developes stress somewhere, higher then the allowed parameters.

I don't think they test each and every one of the piles, maybe some 10% of them or even less.

this will become a very nice building, I'm sure of it :)

Are you sure its only 210 rooms? Thats only like 3-4 rooms per floor.

maybe not all floors are containing hotel-rooms and/or the hotel-rooms are very big :)

a large part of the building are serviced apartments which can be rented out to the hotel operator.

in total i think it has 700 rooms, with 210 being permanent hotel afaik.

although this will look short being so near to burj dubai, this massive hotel could dominate most skylines today with its 306meter height.

That is an old render and the design has changed for the Lake Hotel
(Or is it just the angle? Correct me if i'm wrong)

design has indeed changed, this one above was a rather round version while the new one is the slim version from the model.

It's hard to believe that this tower is gonna be a 1000ft-er since it's one of the "shorter" buildings going up in Dubai. Hell this building would be the crowning jewel of cities like Houston or Los Angeles of they were built there.

OK, i was looking through Dubai mega projects. and i was looking at the Burj Dubai Lake Hotel. and i noticed on the page it said this "The whole complex will also include five more supertall towers approved over the height of 300m, and another 9 supertalls awaiting approval in the same block!" what 5 more super tall's will be in side of the Burj Dubai complex over 300M?? here's the link http://www.dubaimegaprojects.com/burj_dubai_lake_hotel.html

well when i did diagram on dec12, it had 16 typical floors completed + 3 more in core, thus total 30 or 100m high. now 1 month later it has 23 typical floors + 3 more in core, thus 7 floors added in 4 weeks! or now lev37 to core or 122m/400ft high.

this is one awesome project! I just wish that the small island in the middle has more 'canals' goin tru it...nevertheless...pretty darn neat. Don't like much Palm Jumeirah...the arrangements and proximity of homes..and the architecture (repetitive) but it is an amazing project.

^^ I think is way taller then that.

its over 90m wide but side on its narrow which makes it appear tall. Its definatley approx 40 levels atm, which equates to current height.

i'd think around 2-3 metres. small boaths (dhows) will be operated as water taxis on it.
