Why the hell do they need 57 swimming pools ?

every 4bdr duplex in the upper floors has its own jacuzzi-like swimming pool on the balcony/terrace.

The duplex apartments on top will have a plunge pool with jaccuzies in their balconies.

Those are L-shapped just 17' x 6'7" (5.2 x 2 meters), more of a bigger bathtube in your balcony then real swimming pools.

The developer had dumped Australia's MULTIPLEX as main contractor, opting for a local contractor (DCC) instead.

The ever-rising cost of construction and materials are having the effect.

i think i'll stay around the dubai threads because the liverpool section is corrupt with idiots and i am going to dubai next week, Good job they dropped Multiplex, they have taken 16 months longer than they should have to build Englands new stadium, you would have an apartment on the palm before they finished with a high rise, decent tower though, as with most dubai scrapers

I only see one bedroom in this print. Do you have any blueprints for the 4bedroom duplex?

^^ Duplex means that the apartment has 2 floor, and three of the 4 bedrooms are on the upper floor, while what was posted there is the lower floor.

However you can find all the floorplans on the tower's website

Multiplex UK are a different firm to Multiplex Australia.The Multiplex in Australia are a fabulous builder and have built most aussie projects in past 20 years. Never any problems. always quality.The Multiplex UK has been a debacle with wembley. glad it has nothign to do with the Aussie firm.

richard, they are both owned by MXP and report direct to Perth, same as the UAE and NZ divisions

1st quarter 2007 is a good time

Nah, piling alone needs way more then 2 months, then preparing the site and piles for the raft foundation, then doing the raft foundation and then the main contractor has to come and take over the site from the piling contractor. Only then the main structure will start to rise.

I predicts the first OVERGROUND floors to appear by early next summer.

where is the vicinity of the marina from downtown dubai? it would be awesome to see the views from 23 marina when its done, only the princess tower would rival its height no?

As for the height of the tower, within the same cluster will be one very close (380 m) and three taller: Marina 101 @412m, Princess Tower @414m and Ocean Height 2 @460m. A slightly further away (just 4 km) will be another 400+ tower.

But Dubai will be the city with the most skyscrapers over 300m. Some time later it will be also the city with the most skyscrapers over 400m and if everything works as planned Dubai will have 2 times more skyscrapers over 300m than the city with the second most skyscrapers over 300m.

I want that to happen. I don`t live in Dubai. I don`t live even close to this city but i am a skyscraperfan and i love to be impressed. I want Dubai to succeed because i am a free person and i can go to Dubai as often as i want and every time i will visit Dubai i am 100% sure that the skyline will kick my ass. :)

I think Gothic has a point. First of all this boom in Dubai will have to stop at some point, it isn't a very big city afterall. China will probably keep building skyscrapers at the current rate for decades.

Also there are probably loads of supertalls planned in China that we don't even know about. Look how many we didn't have a clue about until that guy zorg posted some info.

That's the site of the 285 meter tall Sulafa Tower. I have no idea why of the 45* angled ramp-like.

Adjacent to that plot (the other hole) is the site of the 412 meter tall Marina 101 Tower.

In my opinion i think the height of Pentominium, will mean a large plot, and i have a feeling that Pentominium will take up the unknown plot as well as the one it is planned to be on :ohno: Which in a way is good because it will not be squashed up against 23 Marina.

The other Unknown plot, next to sulafa tower, has great potential, i'm hoping it will exceed 300m :) I don't think it will exceed Pentominium in height, but then again a rival developer may want to make their mark :nuts:

Raft concrete completed for world’s tallest residential tower

Hircon International announces the completion of the raft for 23 Marina, thus setting the next stage for construction of this 90 storey luxury tower. The sub-structure which includes, excavation, piling works and the diaphragm wall have already been completed and the main structure works are going in full swing.

Dubai Civil Engineering, the main contractors, immediately commenced work on the main structure for this iconic tower upon obtaining the building permit from Dubai Municipality in December 2006. According to Mr. R. P. Ranganatha, GM of Hircon International, “Pile capping, treatment to diaphragm wall, blinding, water proofing and all such allied works were undertaken with round the clock schedule before completing the mai
n raft itself. Nearly 150,000 man hours from all ranks and cadres have gone into the completion of the main raft which encompasses 1400 tonnes of steel and 7000 cubic metres of concrete and measures 3 metres thick.”

“The completion of the raft would ensure that the main structure is safe and is in accordance with the UAE and international building regulations. Our directors Mr. Darshan Hiranandani and Mr. Abid Junaid are pleased with the pace of the construction work and are confident that we will complete the tower on time.” Mr Ranganatha added.

As-to-date, 23 Marina is one of the world’s tallest residential towers, measuring more than 380 meters high. A first in Dubai, 23 Marina boasts having 48 exclusive duplex a

rtments located on the top 24 floors, each with its own private plunge pool with Jacuzzi, bringing luxury living to the next level. Three luxurious penthouses adorn the topmost level of the tower in addition to 288 apartments in this 90 storey tower with 64 meters steel pineal erected from the roof making it an architectural marvel. 23 Marina received the CNBC awards for best architecture in 2006.

Other interesting features of this tower are the unitized aluminum and glass façade in addition to state-of-art technology and posh amenities which include concierge services, a five star spa, landscaped gardens, a jogging track and temperature controlled swimming pool. There are leisure decks at 3 levels, a business floor and a coffee parlor for exclusive use by the residents of the tower.

the 64m pinnacle means roof is 316m or 331m depending on height.

Nice photos, it's always interesting to see construction of buildings and how they progress.

Everyone likes to express an opinion on the architecture and design of skyscarapers ... this one looks okay to me. Nothing special. Not as sleek or dramatic as some of projects described at this site. It is a conservative, stately design and will not offend anyone.

Now ... the tallest residential tower in the world? What about the Chicago Spire, 150 floors, 2000 feet/610 meters?:ohno:

ChiSpire will be tallest once completed but as it has yet to reach ground level and has to go another 200+ metres beyond 23 Marina's final height until it's complete this will be tallest res for a while.

When this building loses its title as world's tallest residential, it won't be to the Chicago Spire, it will be to Princess Tower. This building will be done at least a year before the CS, maybe more.

^^ Nope. Marina 23 and Pentominium are adjacent. The wing of the mall will be on the other side of the Pentominium. Before it was even officially released, there was a mention about the challenge of building very close to a 395m building, so we had an early clue of where it would be located.
