ThePersian April 21st, 2006, 11:00 PM white like any other structure in Tehran...

Why in God's name do they continue with this white stuff with the high level of blackening air pollution they have?
Gilgamesh May 21st, 2007, 08:29 PM Why in God's name do they continue with this white stuff with the high level of blackening air pollution they have?
What's the point in hiring good architechts when you can get it done cheap? :D People are gonna flock to buy the apartments anyway, might aswell maximize the profit. :sleepy:
teh_endeshe May 21st, 2007, 11:01 PM I had always wondered the same thing, then later after asking my uncle an civil engineer in tehran found out that there is a limit on a design of a building in Iran, The government will not approve the project if it resembles "western" like buildings, there are special rules and regulations that architects have to go by. That's why there are not much variety in tehran as for design.

Oh really? Well then could you explain how the plenty of post-modernistic buildings which have sprung up in Tehran got there?
teh_endeshe May 21st, 2007, 11:28 PM Like I said it's what I've heard! I also do agree with you that there are some "Post-Modernistic" buildings in tehran! But how widely do you see them! Name me a few! My uncle even told me that "melli complex tower" In former africa square had so much conterversy for it's approval due to it's none traditional design according to islamic republic. what exacly do you also mean by Post-Modernistic! What i'd take that as Tall symmetrical tower with glass exterior. How many of those can you find in Tehran!
Tenacious May 21st, 2007, 11:50 PM The government will not approve the project if it resembles "western" like buildings, there are special rules and regulations that architects have to go by.
They still look like Western buildings to me... only they're poorly designed Western buildings from 40 decades ago. Are plain white slabs of concrete part of traditional Iranian architecture? Or are they trying to look like Commie blocks because 'my enemy's enemy is my friend'?
Gilgamesh May 22nd, 2007, 01:10 AM Like I said it's what I've heard! I also do agree with you that there are some "Post-Modernistic" buildings in tehran! But how widely do you see them! Im not sure whether you insinuate that all Tehran have to offer are white slabs of concrete, In which case I'll be more than happy to show you around the chique parts of the city. :D
I dont know if if you're aware that most of what is being built/has been built are residental estates by property owners who are investing in their lands. As they are private projects it's up to the land owners to decide how much money to invest in the design/quality. They're more interested in building cheap and making higher profits - $ is be all and ends all...
The designs of some buildings related to government institutions are more "decadent" than any other buildings in the city.

TEHR_IR June 7th, 2009, 08:48 PM looks very nice... :D but it progress very slow...:s
alitezar June 7th, 2009, 09:44 PM omg, I had no idea it's gonna be this glassy I thought it'll be concrete...

sinasina July 4th, 2009, 01:36 AM I think its been under construction for so long!
DingoBingo July 4th, 2009, 04:40 PM ^^ Welcome to Iran. I wonder how many workers they have there!
Jim856796 July 4th, 2009, 04:58 PM The Third Millennium Tower in Tehran has a steel frame. Steel framed skyscrapers in a developing country is a rarity.
Also, I don't know why construction of skyscrapers in Iran are slow. That is probably because of a shortage of construction workers.
shugs July 4th, 2009, 10:20 PM ^steel framed buildings are pretty much the norm in Iran, has been for quite a long time...
omidhercule July 14th, 2009, 11:35 PM that will definetly add to the skyline...dont you think.
TEHR_IR July 15th, 2009, 03:54 PM I saw the construction yesterday and as I said it's progressing very slow...
The only thing that is already build is 90% of the skelet, I think it will be finished within 5years in this condition...
Salar-Parsa July 31st, 2009, 07:14 PM Thats very sad...
I kinda start feeling like tehran dont want its skyline to look good in the future xD because if they dont care about such a big project like this one they will reach nothin :(
Maybe there was a big problem so they put it on hold for a while :?
Shapoor August 27th, 2009, 02:04 AM You can see the red steel skeleton in the center of this picture

Herbicide November 13th, 2009, 02:42 PM Maybe the developer has gone bust and no one else wants to take it on. Doesnt this happen alot in Iran. I remember seeing a large, half built building in the middle of Sari that looks like its been there for thirty years or more and seeing simmilar things in Mashhad.

QWECXZ June 26th, 2010, 03:51 PM hmmm, is this the same building near the Vanak Park complex? If yes, I was passing by it yesterday and they have written a big "Ya ali" on it. lol. but It seems to be almost completed. that "Ya Ali" on it is so annoying. I hope this is only for the Islamic Father's day and they would remove it soon.

Oh sorry, I didn't see your answer. Yes, therefore I think we can take one of these great pictures for a banner. I said that already in the banner thread without anyone answering... . We haven't had a banner for a long time.

Just resize and crop the photos you've found and post it in the banner thread. I'll propose the banner to the admins if it meets the requirements.

Shapoor October 13th, 2010, 10:54 AM Why would the investor pay the expensive tower cranes rent if there was no progress?
Shapoor November 27th, 2010, 08:12 PM Cranes and elevators are moving, no sign of halt. Residential units are also on sale now.

FreddyB March 23rd, 2012, 10:28 PM I always thought 120m is abit too much for this building, but according to this render I get it.The building will have wind turbines on it which with them it will be 120m

KalePache March 24th, 2012, 12:09 AM I think what we are seeing is lack of funding which has halted this project.
Safe to assume its on "hold" ?
Ze Carlos_Ze March 24th, 2012, 04:18 AM some people wrote it is cancelled because of to much glass lol.
is it now being built again?
SoroushPersepolisi March 24th, 2012, 05:44 AM it hasnt had progress for over 3 years
better though
i think its hideous, if it was divided to three slim towers, it would of been nice but this way it looks like a monster-like wall
kurdistan1 April 7th, 2012, 09:52 AM what happened to the owner ? did he run away !!??
Big Abdul April 7th, 2012, 10:00 AM No idea but it is a crap design, was in a friends car the other week went past it, its like the mother ship has landed! Blocking daylight out to everyone in Vanak Park. And some smart arse thought to just put a few windmills on the top, haha try and design a building that does not require AC then we are talking.
Shapoor August 10th, 2012, 12:05 PM I actually liked the design FreddyB posted (the competition winner). It's more original than the first cladding and the vegetation integration is a great idea.
A few more images of it:

I found these interesting renders for the building. It's another competition entry but nevertheless an experimental vision worth sharing.

Statement from architects Hamed Khosravi and Mahtab Akhavan
It has been a while that the Third Millennium Towers have stood up, marking a new chapter in Iranian architectural scene. As if this 'blank sheet' is pleading an exemplar for Tehran. We, respectfully, dedicate this first page to the memories of tangled brick-built corpus of the city, which still has a lot to inspire us.
The idea tends to expose the existing structure of the building into the facades; A projected grid of 100 cm overshadows the customized openings of the residential units. This new skin protects the inhabitable space from the noise of the highways and direct sunlight. Furthermore, it offers a small garden to each units, rendering physically and emotionally the lives of the dwellers.
http://www.tehranprojects.com/The-Third-Millennium-Towers
Shapoor August 10th, 2012, 12:28 PM A limited number of residential units went on sale in May 2012, prices and details can be seen here: http://www.tmtower.com/news.aspx?cnt=nwd&newsId=25
It seems the reason this project was on hold for a while was its undetermined facade design.
