The Qinghai-Tibet Railway in China, which stretches 1,956 kilometers from Xining to Lhasa . The highest point of the railway is 5,072 meters above sea level, at least 200 meters higher than the Peruvian railway in the Andes, which was previously the world's most elevated track.

It would be nice to get something factual here, rather than hyperbole.

Is the railway currently carrying freight to Lhasa?
Is it carrying passengers?
Could I book a trip from Beijing to Lhasa, or vice-versa?
