Bad news, I spoke with the security this morning , construction stopped because the developer has financial problems..

So the status ON HOLD now.

Any new news on this one? Complete standstill for at least a couple months now. In 2010 the progress was incredible. TAV was proudly advertising their work with their monogram in lights on the tower visible from far away. Now no activity at all.

This project is prominent enough that we might expect the government at some point to step in and assist the developer. All they need to do is either give the green light to or order the banking community to extend credit to the developer. There has been a precedent with the government mandating and supporting completion of u/c projects in JLT.

So, for any end users who can manage to keep up their own payments it should only be a question of when and not if they will get delivery.

If you really did pay 95 percent to the developer than I feel sorry for you. It seems to me the only reason this building got topped out fast was to get as much money from the investors, very well thought out by the developer.

This is starting to get really old now in Dubai. I can't see the government giving any financial help to any developer unless it's a local, and that to is debatable. To much debt on their plate already, and let's not forget the MENA unstable domino effect which is slowly creaping it's way towards the UAE like a virus.

I remember news articles a half year or so ago saying that some government money was going to complete a number of UAE developments like JVSouth and JLT--all connected with the Nakheel fiasco. And although Nakheel had "sold" off JLT to DMCC, part of the restructuring plan a year or so ago had Nakheel and DMCC property interests merged.

I know the article you are talking about. It meant that they will finish the landscaping in JLT, not help developers finish actual buildings.

Any way this is way off topic, and has nothing to do with this building.

I don't need to live in Dubai to state that it fails the logic test.

Electrical and mechanical works can not be complete if the blockwork hasn't completed. All the containment for the switches and sockets must be installed in the blockwork walls.

The tower has been on-hold for a few months already, and there has been no progress on cladding since December last year.

I saw the hoist moving today, as well as the crane gondola on the south side where they had stopped the cladding works. A couple of people on site, but didn't look like anywhere close to busy.

alright, cladding has clearly moved on today. I can see one additional square meter - the rest I can't tell.

I saw some workers on the site today. Not many. Some were on those cradles that the window cleaners use doing cladding work. Small moves, but at least something's happening.

You have the title deed to register which is 1 or 2% of the purchase price, depending on how devious your developer is. However, this registration is not a condition of handover--it should not be, and was not the case with two flats I have purchased from two different developers.

When, you get around to registering your title is up to the buyer I believe. It is probably a prerequisite if you intend to sell the property otherwise, some may consider it not important to rush.

Even for renting you need a title deed. I was asked for a copy of my title deed by the agent, who rented my flat.

They took the protective covering off the cladding. That's all that's visible.

Not sure why they did that though. Would have thought you'd want to take the protection off for the whole building at once so there's no colour changes from light/dirt etc.

the current works are nowhere near normal speed. I guess the only thing I can say from seeing it every day is that it's not completely stopped anymore as it had been over a few months before.

I think the "cladding progress", are an excuse for financial problems.. or something like that.. because they built the structure very fast, but now they are building as slowly Marina Pinnacle's progress..

Recently got some inside info about this project - it will move forward quicker soon. Corporate tower in JLT frozen for indefinite period.

It's really a pitty, one unfinished "white elephant" in this neighborhood

^^ In one of the cranes yes, but on the other hand, the lights on both Pentominium cranes are also ON< but we know nothing is gone happen there.

Do people not realise it is lit up for safety reasons?

After all most pilots of helicopters and light aircraft don't normally expect a massive lump of concrete or a crane jib to appear in front of them in poor visibility while flying above 1000ft.

The inside story is that TAV has already planned their workforce that completed AUH airport expansion to re start Marina 101 by 15Dec.

I saw there 2 busses from the TAV today, crane and outside lift was not moving while I was there , main entrance was also closed.

2 securities was there , so already double as before :)

I wouldn't be all that surprised if the government has basically told them to do it, or it'll do it, but it'll mean forfeiting the building.

Last night they have arranged the neon lights on several spaces and floors to create a huge TAV light-sign on the top 15 or so floors of the tower (SZR side), also today one of the cranes had the boom lowered, the rope/cable was down and it seams to be picking up something from the ground. :banana:

Outside lift is moving , workers should be there :)
