don't know if this was posted b4, there is now a nearly completed hotel building at the Bukit Bintang end of Jln Kia Peng next to Wisma Cosway. The signboard says 28 storeys but no name. Its not a pretty building, mostly concrete painted beige. Any info on this

^^ I think we also need more 4-stars hotels. Too many 5-stars and acommodation would be too expensive (despite the fact that we are still one of the cheapest in the region). Cheaper 4-stars would definitely attract more business people as well as budget-concious-but-want-some-frills kind of tourist :D

The Star

PULAI: Pulai Springs Bhd is projecting 68% occupancy rate in the first year of operations for its latest hospitality property - Novotel Hydro Majestic Hotel.

Executive director, Chua Chi Min, said the figure was achievable considering the hotel was strategically located in Kuala Lumpur's Golden Triangle district.

He said several four- and five-star hotels within and around the district were experiencing brisk business, recording an average of 90% room occupancy rate.

We are positioning the property as the most preferred hotel for businessmen,ˇ¨ Chua told StarBiz after the company' EGM on Wednesday.

He said many of the hotels within the district could be considered business hotelsˇ¨ as their clients were mostly businessmen.

At the EGM, shareholders approved the proposed acquisition of 10 million ordinary shares in Hydro Hotels Sdn Bhd for RM10mil cash.

Chua said the company was confident that the hotel would record good business via its appointed operator, The Accor Group, with the international-recognised brand name Novotel.

The four-star hotel, located at the junction of Jalan Kia Peng and Jalan Pinang, has 288 guest rooms and is divided into three portions ˇV a five-storey basement, a six-storey podium and a 24-storey tower.

It is also nestled amongst commercial office blocks, service suites/apartments, prime hotels, food and beverage outlets as well as leisure and shopping centres.

We are already open for business, starting with the first 100 rooms, and the hotel will be fully operational this December,he said.

Chua said the company was banking on the conference facilities of other hotels and the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre to attract business guests.

The hotel would also open a Chinese Muslim restaurant in December, making it the first hotel in the country to have such an outlet, he said, adding that Muslim chefs from Chinaˇ¦s Yunan Province would be employed at the outlet serving Chinese Muslim cuisine with Middle Eastern influences.

He said the company would be looking at introducing time sharing for its golf members at Pulai Springs Resort to stay at Novotel Hydro and its other property, the Pulai Beach Desaru.
