Nice bloglink you gave us there. Forumers in SSC should have the blogger attitudes of LOVING all the towns/cities in Malaysia, instead of having these my town/state is better than yours attitude... :ohno::ohno:
Btw, I think I know who is the culprit/mastermind behind the idea of colouring all these buildings with all these colourful colours. I give you a hint :

Nonetheless, it's good to see that Baskin Robbin opens iits new outlet in Pagoh but I dont think I will ever stop there.^^
Haha maybe it's because I used RnR Sungai Perak as the minimun standrard here
Oh RnR Pagoh is a very popular stop in Johor? Dont know that coz I my kg is in Muar and my workplace is in JB. So once I exit the Pagoh/Tangkak toll, I will just push the pedal full speed 120km/h never looking right or left  After all, the traveling time between Muar and Jb is around 1 and a half hour. there's no need for me to stop at those ermm not so beautiful RnR. :lol:R&R kat perak memang terbaik.. cantik.. terutama kat R&R sungai perak..

Nice and majestic-looking court. I love going to court and watching people using their mouths, fighting for their lives.
BTW, I seriously do not know what's the rational of expending Jalan Abdul Rahman but in the end, most of the biggest projects in Muar are located in Jalan Temenggung Ahmad.. (Maharani Apartment, this new High Court, KPJ Hospital, the stadiums, roads to other Tamans etc). To me, Jalan Abdul Rahman is only useful if you want to reach BP fast.
Caius the Shadow August 5th, 2012, 12:59 AM "Muar remained the most important district in Malaysia, contributing 45% to the total national export revenue. In 2009, Malaysia recorded RM7.6bil in furniture exports and the figure was at RM6bil up to November 2010.
There are 297 members registered with MFA with 700 to 800 factories mostly located in Bakri, Bukit Pasir, Pagoh, Parit Jamil and Tangkak areas."

I never knew that the furniture industry in Muar is worth at least RM 3.5 billion ...

Muar should focus on Food Tourism as this town has lots of great and delicious food to offer. Mee Bandung, Parit jawa Asam Pedas, satay, ungkep, early morning satay, Ikan Bakar sabak awor etc. Yummy :):):)
MP Muar should capitalize the Malacca factor so that tourists will come to Muar. As for me, I had encountered a small group of westerners in my 2 out of 5 visits to Muar. This is a good sign I think.
Economically, Muar is one of the leading secondary towns when it comes to GDP contribution. The furniture industry alone contributes around RM3bil /year. I couldn't ask any more than that. The only thing that Muar lacks is the modern-city-like lifestyle that towns like BP/Kluang have. Driving around Kluang Parade and Kluang Mall always makes me feel jealous.
ejatidiaz August 8th, 2012, 01:49 AM Ungkep can also ea, it's makanan jawa right.
You know what, everytime I go to Ipoh, it always remind me of Muar, it's architecture.
Maybe Muar lacks of modern building, but I just kinda like it the way it is.:)
Caius the Shadow August 8th, 2012, 03:04 AM Yeahh unless there's a new law to preserve it but bit by bit, those buildings will all be renovated someday, losing the original identity.... I can see lots of renovation works taking place in Muar lately and it left me with a mixed feeling about this situation as I want Muar to get out from the 'bandar pencen' label but in order to do so, those 'pencen' buildings needs to be sacrificed.. Unless MPM can think of something like creating new business centre in Muar, I cant see those buildings will last long..
Ungkep is a jawa food. but I had came across the bugis ungkep. Both are delicious

Muar is bigger than Kluang but lifestyle-wise, Kluang is much better as the town has better infrastructure and public amenities. In retail sector also, Kluang has left Muar behind to the point that it will take at least 5 years for Muar to catch up with Kluang.

Get the cows off our highways (thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2012/8/8/focus/11815548&sec=focus)
I REFER to your report “Cow on highway causes fatal accident” (The Star, Aug 6).
I would like to relate a similar experience along the Leburaya AMJ (Alor Gajah-Melaka-Johor).
Courtesy of the Malacca and Johor state governments, this toll-free expressway has provided the people a convenient way to travel, and as an alternative route to save time.
However, regular users of this road will tell that it is common to see dead cows lying by the roadside, and broken glass and disintegrated car parts such as bumpers on the road.
If those dead cows were by the roadside, just imagine what could have happened to those vehicles that had hit those animals? And what happened to those precious human lives?
Last month, my cousin and his pregnant wife drove home at night using the PLUS highway, before turning into Jasin to get to the AMJ.
All of a sudden, a white cow rushed out from the bushes. My cousin was quick to avoid it but luck was not with him when he failed to notice the second cow which was black!
He hit the second cow but fortunately both husband and wife escaped unhurt. The cow was killed instantly and the car badly damaged. The poor couple waited by the roadside for my help at 2am.
Despite warning signs about the cows at certain stretches of AMJ, the owners of the animals have a duty to ensure that their animals are always under their surveillance and not pose a threat to any road user.
Road accidents of this nature can be avoided.
The local district council has a role to play and should give sufficient warning to the cattle owners and to impose severe fines for those letting their cows to wander along and on the highway.
Teach them a lesson and warn the others to take full responsibility of their animals. We cannot afford to sacrifice more precious human lives due to silly human mistakes.
A first world facility must be accorded with a first- class mentality.

Yeah, i also thought that Higway AMJ = Highway Antara Melaka Johor..
 They did the naming wrong as Muar has the grandest part of the highway ( the 2nd bridge + that big Parit Bunga flyover/interchange ) :bash:.
But AMJ highway does not bring significant benefit to Muar. It's a shame coz the number of vehicles using this highway is quite high coz people from BP and Malacca will usually use this highway to skip the congestion in Muar town

Caius the Shadow August 13th, 2012, 05:29 AM ^^
Oh begitu.

10 Countries Confirm Participation For UCI Indoor Cycling C'ships In Muar
(http://www.bernama.com/bernama/v6/newssport.php?id=687809)
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 13 (Bernama) -- More than 10 countries are expected to take part in the Union Cyliste Internationale/International Cycling Union (UCI) Indoor Cycling Championships in Muar, Johor on Aug 25.
National Track Cycling Association honorary secretary Nasir Yahya said among countries that have already confirmed their participation were Brunei, Hong Kong, Thailand, Japan, France, Belgium and Czech Republic.
"This is the third time Malaysia will be hosting the championships and we hope young riders will emerge from such championships," he told Bernama here.
Nasir said most of the national cyclists and those from the national back up squad would also be taking part.
He said that the two categories to be hosted in the championships are the artistic cycling and cycle ball events while Asian champion in the events, Mohd Zikri Dahlan, 24 and Abu Abas Zulkifli, 24 would also be taking part.

Pagoh to be made next learning centre
By HAMDAN RAJA ABDULLAH
metrose@thestar.com.my
MUAR: Pagoh will have two educational complexes for universities and schools, including religious schools, in its aim to be an educational hub in the region.
Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said the university projects would be built along the Panchor road while the schools near Brohol and in Bukit Serampang.
He said the Education Ministry had acquired some 200ha of land near Kampung Brohol and in Bukit Serampang to build several primary and secondary schools.
“The school projects include a religious school and we will implement the projects in stages.
“For the university projects, we have four universities, which will set their campuses or branches here soon,” he said after a meeting with some 700 retirees in Pagoh yesterday.
Muhyiddin, who is also the Education Minister, said the Cabinet had on Wednesday given its approval for Pagoh to be a major educational hub in the country.
He said the first university to set up a campus here would be University Tun Hussein Onn as the university in Batu Pahat had maximised its land.
He said the construction to build the campus would begin soon and it would be followed by University Teknologi Mara, University (Institute) Teknologi Mara and a polytechnic.
He said the first phase project would cost about RM1bil and it would take between three and four years for the projects to be fully completed.
He said at the same time Sime Darby, which owned the land, would build hostels besides houses, shops and commercial centres to support the new hubs.
He said about 10,000 students were expected to come and study at the universities and this would generate greater economic growth in Pagoh.
To a question on foreign universities coming to Pagoh, Muhyiddin said he would ask the Higher Education Ministry to look into the matter.
He said although University Technology Bandung had initially planned to come to Pagoh, he had yet to receive news from the university.
“We welcome all foreign universities which want to set up campuses or branches in Pagoh and we will offer them the sites,” he added.

anakmuar August 25th, 2012, 06:48 PM Educational complexes to be set up in Pagoh
Aug 23, 2012 - PropertyGuru.com.my
In a bid to become an educational hub within the region, Pagoh is set to have two educational complexes for schools and universities, according to Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
Muhyiddin said that the school projects will be built in Bukit Serampang and near Brohol while the university projects will stand along the Panchor road.
He added that the Education Ministry had acquired 200ha of land in Bukit Serampang and near Kampung Brohol for the construction of the primary and secondary schools.
"The school projects include a religious school and we will implement the projects in stages," Muhyiddin said.
"For the university projects, we have four universities, which will set their campuses or branches here soon."
Muhyiddin noted that the Cabinet had given its approval for Pagoh to become Malaysia's major educational hub, adding that the first university to have a campus within the area would be the University Tun Hussein Onn.
University Teknologi Mara, the University (Institute) Teknologi Mara and a polytechnic university will follow the construction.
On questions of foreign universities to set up in Pagoh, Muhyiddin said the matter will be discussed with the Higher Education Ministry.
"We welcome all foreign universities which want to set up campuses or branches in Pagoh and we will offer them the sites," he said.

Oh terminal baru di jalan bakariah, dekat dgn highway Muar bypass. Terminal bas ni harap taklah super moden/super big macam nak serve 1 000 000 penduduk. Nanti under-utilised, membazir duit rakyat.

UniMAP buka dua cawangan baharu
http://www.kosmo.com.my/kosmo/content.asp?y=2012&dt=0901&pub=Kosmo&sec=Negara&pg=ne_13.htm
ejatidiaz September 4th, 2012, 05:51 AM UniMap nak buka cawangan? biar betul?

Well if Naib Canselor sendiri yang kata nak bukak, then betul la tu .
Rasanya akan dipanggil UniMap Pagoh je la. Well to hell with all that name, yang penting projek jalan.

Good to see that Muar is growing... At least can catch up with BP & Kluang would be fine to me... Muar used to be the 2nd most developed town after JB... Now, has been overtake by BP & Kluang... With the status of Royal Town, I hope Muar will change a bit :)

Maharani Parade maybe? Pagoh Mall doesn.t sound good to me
It's such a shame coz Muar has fallen down from 2nd to the 4th most developed town in Johor. But the economic strength of Muar is stronger than most of the secondary towns outsied of KV, JB, PG. Just check the KDNK/GDP data if you dont believe it :)

Caius the Shadow September 9th, 2012, 04:21 AM ^^
For the time being, Muar can only settle/defend its status as the 4th city in Johor. It's hard to catch up with BP and Kluang now coz both towns are connected well with each other via a highway + the urban sprawl of BP has now reached Ayer Itam. It's a matter of time when BP and Kluang will merge into a single entity. To make it worse, some JB people (especially those working in Kulai/Skudai) has now started living in Kluang due to lower cost of living + traveling time between Kluang to JB is only an hour drive. So memamng mustahil la Muar boleh kejar BP/Kluang ni.

Caius the Shadow September 12th, 2012, 03:34 PM Just got this info here. A beras factory owner in Muar is now looking for a piece of land that has the size 10-15 ekar . He wants to relocate his factory to a new area in Muar because Tesco had approached him and asked him to sell the land where his current factory is located ( Jalan Salleh). There's no detail whether Tesco wants to build a hypermarket or just want to set up their warehouse there. Either way, this could be a good news to Muarian :)

Haha Muar still don't have a proper cinema laa. Lots of Muarian youngsters are complaining coz Segamat which is a much smaller town than Muar already has a cinema. I guess Muar now has fall down the rank from 2nd to 5th as the most developed town in Johor, behind JB, BP, Kluang, Segamat. What's next, Pontian and Kota Tinggi to beat Muar? lol .

I bet Johor will play at Larkin as their homegrown... Johor FA? Maybe Johor FA can play at Muar...
Btw, As a supporter of Johor FC, I would be super glad if Johor FC name remain & not change to Johor... Coz people can confuse between Johor & Johor FA... Anywhere, the supporters have no power against the ruler, but I'm sure TMJ have his own plans... Daulat Tuanku :)

Many MB from Muar doesn't mean anything if they don't do anything to develop Muar town :bash::bash:
Bukit Gambir is developing fast thanks to the developers who are hooking on the still u/c NSE exit. I just hope that it won't become a stagnant but jam-packed small town like Tangkak... :ohno:
I think Ayer Itam has a higher chance of becoming a vibrant town compare to Bukit Gambir as it is located at the border of Batu Pahat and Kluang.

Isn't that actually better and it can cover the whole road..
Caius the Shadow November 12th, 2012, 01:39 PM ^^
The cost to build this thing is around RM1-2 mil and it took them around 2 years to complete it... I think it'll will take forever for them to cover the whole street in Muar with this fun fair roof :nuts:
TBH, I dont really like this uptown project as it will make the traffic congestion in Muar town center to become worst. Muar already has an under-utilised second bridge + Muar Bypass. MPM should do something to attaract people to go there as that area has lots of potential. Hopefully the Sierra Maharani project that is still u/c will turn that part of Muar to become a vibrant new township like JB's Bukit Indah/Sutera Utama or if that is not possible, it can be like Batu Pahat's Flora Utama

What is It about this country that governments like to build second links far from the first crossings? In most well connected cities around the world, a bridge crossing can be found a few city blocks away from the first. Here they probably build it for political reasons only.

The Johor government initiatives around the state are all behind the times. Tackiness and under maintenance are their specialties.

Maybe YDP Muar try to adjust the design with Muar's status as a Bandar Pencen / Retirement Town. Shame on him for choosing this design.

I second to that Vince!! Maybe we should put this findings in the Only in Malaysia thread.
ejatidiaz November 13th, 2012, 10:25 AM No, I mean for that particular road only. Isn't it cheaper because they will not have to build the tiang from the ground, instead just one roof covering that uptown road only.
For the second bridge, yes it is under utilised but it actually opens new area for new development.

The Hari Keputeraan Sultan Johor will last for 5 days, starting from 22 - 27 Novemeber. Everyone is pretty much appreciated to come and enjoy the festival.

davidwsk November 26th, 2012, 05:50 AM Sultan Ibrahim declares Bandar Maharani as Johor’s first royal town
26-11-2012
MUAR: The town, once regarded as a sleepy hollow, has become alive with a hive of activities in conjunction with the five-day birthday celebration of Johor Ruler Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar.
The celebrations, which began on Nov 21 with the Tahlil and thanksgiving prayers at Masjid Sultan Abu Bakar, ended with a dazzling fireworks display along Sg Muar late Sunday.
The highlight of the celebration was when Sultan Ibrahim declared Bandar Maharani here as the state’s first royal town. Other events include a mammoth tea party, which was attended by thousands and an array of water spot activities along the Muar River.
The celebrations were not only during the day but even at night with float processions and concerts performed by local Johor-born artists.
Sultan Ibrahim, accompanied by his consort Raja Zarith Sofia Sultan Idris Shah and their children, including the Tunku Mahkota of Johor, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim were present at most of the events.
Many locals were dazzled and marvelled with all the various activities and described the celebrations as the grandest ever held in Bandar Maharani.
Visitor Kamariah Aripin, 23, said she was impressed with the cleanliness of the town with all the pre-war buildings painted with a fresh coat of paint along with newly resurfaced roads.
“This made the town look vibrant,” she said, adding that her whole family came to Muar to take part in the festival.
Grandfather Jumat Salleh, 64, who came with his three grandchildren, said he would take his grandchildren to see the Sultan whenever there were Royal functions in town.
“They have to know who is their Ruler and are happy to be here during his historic event in Muar,” said the retired soldier.
Meanwhile, prominent politician Tan Sri G. Pasamanikam regarded the celebration and the declaration of the royal town as appropriate and timely.
He said the late Almarhum Sultan Abu Bakar Sultan Ibrahim opened Bandar Maharani more than 125 years ago and it was among the most “well planned” town in the state.
He said the town had many beautifully designed old buildings such as the Sultan Ibrahim building, the Muar High School, the old police station, the old Muar courthouse and the post office.
At the mammoth tea party at the Stadium Sultan Ibrahim on Thursday, thousands flocked to catch a glimpse of the ruler together with members of the royal family.
Local and foreign dignitaries including Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong’s wife Ho Ching were present at the event.
Also present was Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman and his wife Datin Paduka Prof Dr Jamilah Ariffin.
The crowd was entertained by various cultural dances, band performance by the police and other performances.
There were also about 60 stalls serving various kinds of local delicacies and even fast food.

I'm afraid that will happen... Similar like Skudai --> JB and Shah Alam ---> KL. But I just want to remain positive and optimist about this thing. Haha well I think Muar old folks just came out with this theory as back then, building this kind of bridge was deemed as impossible (1962) . None of the engineer at that time care to to explain the procedure to them.. They might have mistaken the piling procedure as the human heads planting process..

Disni hypermarket? Lol I wonder if Micki and Mini can be found in there.
daeng_jal January 20th, 2013, 01:06 AM Wonders if our local boys know hypermarket business models. Used to work for one.
It involves selling few stuff at loss but attracted customers to buy in droves as fast as u can. The profit margin is low but As you would pay the supplier at least 6 month after. U deprive most profits on high yield short term investment.
Caius the Shadow January 20th, 2013, 02:20 AM Well Mydin can do it and I'm sure the rest can do also. JK. evryone knows that Mydin got Fed to back him but we have lots of other independent but successful homegrown Hypermarket chains. Kipmart, C-Mart , Tunas Senja? (senja or manja not sure) are the living examples. People nowadays don't care about Giant or Tesco or Carrefour brand hypermarket or Mickey Mouse hypermarket, as long as it is cheap and close to their house, then they will come. I think in supermarket/hypermarket business, the yearly profit is just a mere 2%-5% from tenth millions of selling but profit is still profit. Well I think those boys know this already.
All in all, I like this new trend of our local boys building their own hypermarket since our Gov let Giants to run havoc with hundreds of store in Malaysia. Johor alone has 19 Giant stores. They even went as far as Mersing . It's about time to stop them. Same like Tesco too. Both need to be stopped from spreading. I hate monopoly or duopoly
JB Citizens (+_+) January 20th, 2013, 03:28 AM Luckily Wal-Mart is prohibited in Msia... If not, other retailers including tesco, giant & aeon will face such a hard time to survive...

If not prohibited, Walmart will be a stand alone monopoly hypermarket... In order to make sure the sustainable of other foreign retailer such as Tesco, the govt had to restrict Walmart from entering Malaysia's market... Or else, Mydin also will not expand...

Wallmart fails in Korea. And it not like our bigboys haven't try to jv with them but given the saturation of hypermarket in Malaysia they aren't interested.
I hated giant, must be very careful as they like to cheat. Love Tesco as they are the subsidiaries of sime Darby which the subsidiaries of PNB. Who pay me a risk free dividend of almost 9%.

Chill ok. Bukannya banyak sangat beza pon shopping kat Giant/Tesco ni. Xde Tesco doesn't mean that ur state is xbest or whatsoever. Sekarang ni pon pelabur dah ramai yg suka set up hypermartket chain sendiri.
Ermm daengjal, what do u mean by ' risk free 9% dividend ' when shopping in Tesco? Sounds very profitable!! I love dividends!!!

This thing has been floating around from long before.
But no budget have been ever approve nor that it in the important list to being build. High in their list is kota tinggi. But that place nobody really care lah.
At most I suspected a very small section of it would be build from the DPM election allocation.

Heard about this as well before, that's why I quickly said that the PRU is getting nearer. . They just rinse and repeat the news as the article that I posted is dated at 29 Januari 2013. I guess I have to take sometime and go visit the mentioned area in the article and see whether Phase 1 has started or not.

Wondered why u just don't just eat in JB, seafood there are much cheaper not eastcoast cheap. But better than here.
Oh and I know that some nelayan in JB are below poverty, but dont think it apply here thought. I think they are rather wealthy. Seafood here are rather pricy and I don't think they even have middlemen anymore.
Caius the Shadow February 17th, 2013, 01:27 AM ^^
JB don't have good makan spot la, just nasik ayam penyet or buy from drivethrus everyday and I can be happy with my life. Right now, I'm addicted to these yummy bread-things called as Subway  Muar is still the best eating place to me. It's not like Muar and JB are being separated by some ridiculous distance, so I can just drive to Muar, eat and go back to JB some hours later.
Oh fishermen in Muar are wealthier than those in JB? I guess those middlemen are leeching the profit from them. Such a sad situation .. I think the large amount of hypermarkets in JB is one of the reason why they can't sell their catch at a very high price. Without the middlemen, those fishermen cannot sell their catches by themselves, unlike in Muar where they can just set up a stall near the main road , and voila, cars stop and buy from them.

Victims of her own success!
Attracted to many people, people create kampung, kampung land over generation subdivided into lots, then the lots have plenty of name. Too many name make problems, too much fighting, tamak haloba, cannot make a decisions. no politicians nor developers want to get into this mess. So they move to BP/Kluang where it so much cheaper/easier. (plenty of kelapa sawit money too). These town grew richer and muar found herself in the middle of neighbouring bigger town, soon her population stab her in the back by going shopping/entertaining @ those town furthering muar slow crawl to die.

Will it be something similar of the water theme park that we have in Batu Pahat? I saw there is a development near Jalan Salleh with 160 shop houses, a hypermart and a site for drive-thru fast food restaurant?

I am a newbie here and still not yet able to post the pic here... According to the board, TF-Value Mart will operate there...the site for drivethru restaurant is reserved for the investor to venture in... This project is located near to Taman Mas Jaya of Jalan Salleh.
I noticed there is a shop houses project going on at Jalan Parit Setongkat, just started to have the site clear..
Another project called Bakri Junction also going on..the design of the shop houses is quite modern but I am not sure where is it exactly...

Ya, I have no worries with Sime Darby at all.. I personally think the jalan linking Muar - Bkt Pasir - Pagoh should be upgraded to at least 2 lanes for each direction especially after this Edu Hub and HSR Station will have completed.

Hopefully, hopefully.. Currently the situation has started to favor Muar a lil bit since all big project ( Edu Hub, Segamat - Muar highway projects and Bukit Gambir toll plaza ) have taking shape nicely. I just wish that we can have better connectivity with Batu Pahat... Economically, Batu Pahat is a lot stronger than Muar. The town will also have her own RM 500 million seaport that is currently under constructions. Muar needs the spillover from Batu Pahat in order to help push it to another level as I can see that Kota Tinggi and Pontian are catching Muar at a very fast rate. BP, Kluang, Segamat have beaten us long time ago. Can't lose to Kota Tinggi and Pontian :bash:

i didn't know that Tesco is using franchising system..no wonder the interior design not really international system...
Developers in muar only know to build shophouses.. they only look at short term profit.. KCC do develop mall at tj agas but look at it's condition now.. haiz...when muar will get it's second shopping mall?? not even have a cinema now also... come la, aeon, come.....

It's not exactly franchising system but very similar to it.
Haha the failed mall in Tangjung Agas was built without proper planning. People who comes from Tangkak/Melaka direction will have a hard time to enter the mall as they need to make a U-turn. Small Mall that requires people to make U-turn will definitely fail. Luckily the KFC and Guardian still open there.

I also hear mydin is also looking for sites in Muar. Anyway I don't think trader's in town are so pleased with it. Giants itself suck big time so town trader still has a fighting chance.

Caius the Shadow March 8th, 2013, 05:01 AM POLLUTED: New technology will be used to clean up the river
MUAR: THE Sungai Bentayan project which cost RM120,000 is expected to end by January next year.
The 9.5km stretch of river is polluted with food and industrial waste.
Bentayan state assembly (DUN Bentayan) division organising committee chairman Chris Lee Ching Yong said J-Biotech Environment Sdn Bhd was granted a contract to treat the river by using microorganisms (EM) technology.

JEFFREY ANG March 8th, 2013, 12:28 PM POLLUTED: New technology will be used to clean up the river
He said the initiative was taken to restore the river as its poor condition has tarnished the image of Muar as a royal town.

The only way is AES Style of enforcement along the back of these shop houses in order to catch and FINE the culprit that pollute the Muar river.
JEFFREY ANG March 8th, 2013, 12:38 PM Since Muar is going to have her own HSR station in the future??? Any comment??? Connectivity between the station, Muar town, Tangkak, Bukit Gambir dan Pagoh???
CWL March 8th, 2013, 12:51 PM I am quite sure it will be at pagoh.. It has already mentioned the stations will not be built at the town area.

They chose Pagoh.. To be honest, I prefer the station to be located at either Tangkak or Bukit Gambir but I don't know la.. Those smart people in gov think otherwise. They might be gambling on the Pagoh Ebu Hub and University town to be successful.

Whether the HSR station is Pagoh, Muar, Bukit Gambir or Tangkak it's not the real issue. The real issue is how well, punctual and efficient are the public transport connectivity (namely bus and taxi) with these towns??? Is it a world class connectivity like this world class project?? Or another failing third world cowboy style public transport connectivity??? Or else if it's only 10km or less from Pagoh or Muar town, you still have a big problem to reach the HSR station if the public transport connectivity sucks if you don't have somebody to drive you there.
CWL March 8th, 2013, 03:45 PM Thanks to lousy transportation in Muar, every household at least got one their own vehicle, how advance is automotive industry in Muar :) but honestly public transport system in Muar is the worst in Malaysia, mainly to service the foreign workers.

This is the same issue that I had posted earlier. Out of those three towns (Tangkak, Bukit Gambir, Pagoh), Pagoh is the worst when it comes to public transportation. Taxi service almost non-existent and as for bus services, the frequency is once in 1.5/2 hour serving the Muar - Pagoh - Bukit Kepong route.
Compare to Tangkak which has decent taxi services as well as bus services from Muar, Segamat and Melaka with 45 minutes frequency.
Taxi services on the other hand are just part time jobs for those pencen uncles. Going out at 8.00 am, balik rumah lunch n lepak2/tido at 11/12 noon, continue driving taxi at 3 pm, go back home at 6/7 pm. I think only in Muar where taxi drivers treated their job as part time jobs  One thing I like about the taxi service is, they will only charge u RM3 for a 10-15km trip . Showing how carefree and simple these uncles are.

Unless Malaysian government want to become the laughing stock of the whole world. The government better rapidly improve the bus and taxi services and connectivity of these public transport services with the station and nearby towns. Simply because this is a world class project and it will become a global/world focus. And the federal, state and district or even the municipal government better buck up the public transport services and connectivity between the towns or locations with HSR station before the completion of HSR, or else the federal government will really become the laughing stock of the whole world and once more prove their incompetent that might destroy such an advance world class project. That's why SPAD must make sure no more cowboy style or third world public transport services that connect with her stations before HSR completed. Especially those stations located at/nearby smaller towns namely Ayer Keroh, Muar and Batu Pahat.

If the federal government can spend more than RM100 million indirectly and directly in total for Janji Ditepati activities alone (tv advertising, promotions, nationwide tours, staff emolument, rental and purchase of equipment, logistic cost, hire celebrities, artistes etc etc) . This haven't include the government spent RM20 million (also indirectly and directly on UMNO AGM), this also haven't include other expenditures and expenses that government used for other propaganda and so called "promotion" activities. I don't need the government to fully stop all these "ACTIVITIES", if the government cut down the cost for these "ACTIVITIES" 50% a year from year to year. I believe the government actually got EXTRA or even enough expenses to improve the most basic public transport system, bus or taxi in smaller town like Muar, Pagoh, Bukit Gambir, Tangkak, Parit Sulong, Merlimau etc etc. Unfortunately, the government don't know how to be prudent in the "correct" way and this is what happen.
Caius the Shadow March 9th, 2013, 01:13 PM Haha don't be naive. Even if the gov wants to spend that RM100 million for the rakyat, they won't spend it to Johor state, let alone Muar. We Johorean have been bullied for so long by federal government, so get used to it dear. I blame most of these messes towards that stupid Mahathir era and his anti-Johor policies as well as our incompetent state gov. But Jeffrey Ang, let's stop this blame game will ya
Our Johor state governments owns MAJU BUS COMPANY. Currently, MAJU buses operates in JB and Batu Pahat only. Perhaps if our ADUN/Majlis Perbandaran do their jobs properly, then we can have MAJU buses to serve here in Muar.
Another option that is to rely on our local people to start their own bus service similar like Kluang's Gunung Lambak bus operator which provides services in most taman's in Kluang. They even serve the FELDA settlement such as Bukit Tongkat and Ulu Belitong. My experince in using Gunung lambak services was quite pleasant. The question is, who want to step up and open this kind of business?

JEFFREY ANG March 12th, 2013, 02:12 PM Is it true that they are going to move the outstation bus terminal near Astaka there??? Where are they going to move to??? Build a total new bus terminal??? When??? Anyone??? Any idea about this matter??? It's time, the traffic jam there is getting worse from day to day.
daeng_jal March 12th, 2013, 06:59 PM Public transport is not a profit making venture. If anyone try to monetize it then most likely it would be expensive or horrible services. Fortunately, Malaysian tauke manage to do both:lol:
Not only u ride the most horrible busses, with long wait time and long journey. U also pay more for tickets than the equivalence petrol prices for your car.
The government of johor still haven't realised it. The don't do nothing on their own, they also don't invite rapid in. Probably they friends2 with bus tauke maybe.
As effective or well funded a public transport is. It won't be popular or used if the usage of private vehicle aren't control. Other countries used toll, expensive road tax, parking, congestion charges, fuel tax to discourage polluter and increased PT usage.
Another friend of PT is proper planning with mix usage and density. However as we as people love driving so much and have incest on landed properly and like big mall, Office are made up on top floor of shop, thanks to the horrible popularity of shoplot. Thus no matter how much money we throw, PT won't work effectively in this situation.
Our people think nothing of polluting.they think it their right!, just like how they like breaking the law.they get mad if anyone try to saman them. And they think a further rise in fuel subsidies is their born right. Personally, I think Malaysian bitch about PT,because they hoping SOMEONE'S else ride it, so less jammed would be for their car.
It always good for ego to blame everyone else and take no responsibility. The choices We made are the one that land us in this maze. Probably it time to introduce a dictatorship that finally solve all problems by making sure no stupid individual choices are made.
daynielizham March 12th, 2013, 08:01 PM tambah lane je I think. kamu watpa di Tangkak ya? study matrikulasi ke?

Once it is completed, Muarian will have 3 options to access the NSE via Pagoh, Tangkak and Bukit Gambir. As for me, Pagoh toll plaza still remains in my heart
Speaking of Bukit Gambir, I think it will surpass Tangkak in 2,3 more years. This once cowboy town is shaping quite well. The Econsave is now 80% complete.
Poor Tangkak.. It has become a lesser version of Muar on which Bukit Gambir and Jasin is sucking her people's money, similar like Batu Pahat and Malacca in Muar case. :bash:
jasontan12 March 30th, 2013, 05:32 AM Where is Muar swimming pool ? why until now still no news ? Muar is going backwards, last time got swimming pool, then afterwards disapppear for 20 years, what the heck ! Other places are more and more delevelop, Muar is going retro......

Johor is not a maju-state, very mundur I think. Lots of failure in here and there. SO get used to it dear. The bright side is, there are LOTS of rumours/news/speculations saying that most of Pakatan big guns will be fighting in Johor in the next GE. I can't wait for PR to rule Johor. That way I can see whether they just make that loud but empty talk or they are as good as what they think they are. I will say consider PR do a good job in Johor if they manage to make Johor contribute at least 13% GDP by year 2018. Any less than that then I will consider them to be as defective as BN.
