shugs May 4th, 2006, 03:39 PM Its not very large is it now :P
So off topic.... whats with this Persian Gulf crossing thats gonna be thru Qeshm Island?
shayan May 4th, 2006, 03:47 PM its going to happen. They are building a tunnel and a bridge it will be 2 km long this will connect Bandar Abbas to Qeshm and will become the longest bridge in the middle east. Iran is also planning a bridge from Iraq to Iran over that body of water ( i dont like using the name :P) It will be about 500 m long
Gilgamesh May 4th, 2006, 03:49 PM Are you you sure it's gonna happen? last I heard they still hadn't struck a deal and that was a few months ago...
Gilgamesh May 4th, 2006, 03:52 PM Also what on earth is the benefit building a Iraq-Iran BRIDGE?
shayan May 4th, 2006, 03:57 PM I dont know sucking up to the iraqies so we can get oil deals? Iran is investing one billion dollars in Iraq (also about the same in Afganistan just to make there power in the region bigger and its kinda working lol)
Or maybe they want to link Abadan to Basre.
persian May 4th, 2006, 05:09 PM I don't think that bridge will be built till another 10 years.
panj-delaavaraan May 4th, 2006, 08:23 PM The benefit, I think is to grasp the power in the region and to connect interdepend the two countries so they will be harder for the likes of the US to separate. I think that the Mullas believe that by sharing resources with Iraq, connecting the two countries, and so forth, they will have a shia power that can dominate the middle east over the sunnis that are much more broken up into different countries.
shayan May 5th, 2006, 10:30 AM wow panj and that all with one bridge!! :):D
panj-delaavaraan May 5th, 2006, 06:42 PM lol not all that with one bridge... its just one thing in a bigger picutre :)
shayan May 5th, 2006, 08:10 PM you know what would be cool a bridge from Assaluyeh to kish :D
Halawala May 5th, 2006, 09:02 PM its going to happen. Nice bridge, but the longest bridge is currently the King Fahad bridge connecting Dammam to Bahrain, and the future one is Qatar-Bahrain causeway (completed 2010)...
shayan May 6th, 2006, 10:58 AM yeah but i mean there are two kind of bridges one with stands on those pillars and one who actually is in the air and the one between Iran and Iraq will become the longest in the middle east in the air (the KF bridge isnt in the air) Sorry i didnt knew a nother way to put it :P
Halawala May 7th, 2006, 07:32 PM ^^ No problem. I think you mean its the longest Suspension bridge or longest self-supporting brige.
shayan May 7th, 2006, 07:47 PM yeah that was the name i was looking for! suspension!
Halawala May 7th, 2006, 09:23 PM ^^ hehe by the way, you have it in your thread title.. hehe. Anyway, I still think this is a nice project. :)
gole_hayahou May 9th, 2006, 11:22 AM Also what on earth is the benefit building a Iraq-Iran BRIDGE?
haha..thats exactly wot i was thinking.
Halawala May 9th, 2006, 11:39 PM Iran and Iraq have a thousand km border. Why on earth will they build a bridge on top of water??
shayan May 10th, 2006, 11:59 AM To conect Basre and Khoramshar, Abadan in a fast way.
sinasina November 30th, 2007, 05:36 PM I dont know sucking up to the iraqies so we can get oil deals? Iran is investing one billion dollars in Iraq (also about the same in Afganistan just to make there power in the region bigger and its kinda working lol)
