Durbsboi May 2nd, 2006, 10:43 AM doesnt look that bad, but theres gonna be a shit load of hotels in this area, city lodge, this, that legacy one (three cities) then down at the beach
GregPz May 2nd, 2006, 10:55 AM Very nice. Much better that I was expecting when I saw the title "Express by Holiday Inn".
dysan1 May 2nd, 2006, 03:57 PM yeh it is better than i thought too...but moreland have their strict design parameters...if you look at the size of the site it is TINY!
Yeah loadsa hotels...they obviously see the need...but a total of 620 within 200m of each other!
Durbsboi May 3rd, 2006, 10:23 AM Its like a tiny building that just managed to fit on the pavement
dysan1 May 3rd, 2006, 08:26 PM yeh...thats like a few steps across and has some trees and stuff there...alway thought they would build there, but thought they would take some of the parking lot too...
SA BOY May 4th, 2006, 10:15 AM know the brand well, did a feasabilty for the role out of these across the MENA region. Great concept and with occupancies at above 80% these things print money
dysan1 May 4th, 2006, 12:07 PM I think the grouping of all these hotels next to each other is great...it will provide constant business for the many many new restaurants that are opening...and this design is leaps ahead of the point one
datilguy May 28th, 2006, 06:39 AM I LOVE this one! When does construction start?
dysan1 May 29th, 2006, 12:05 PM work starts in August
dysan1 July 23rd, 2006, 07:06 PM After hearing about the Sun Square hotel at the Michelangelo i decided to contact the developer on this one...its also going to be a Sun Square hotel now from what i was told. 175 rooms. work will start early October now.
dysan1 May 14th, 2007, 11:25 AM also still express by holiday inn then. no southern sun!! i still like the design of this one!
Pule May 14th, 2007, 03:50 PM I agree with you, its a very cool design.
Durbsboi May 16th, 2007, 10:10 AM Yeh the glass facade give it a nice look, plus by the looks of things the lobby will have floor to roof void which is always a cool feature
dysan1 August 25th, 2007, 03:10 PM i wonder if the design is changing much now that its being developed for holiday inn express directly.
dysan1 October 3rd, 2007, 04:46 PM anyone have the new design? this is the design that was proposed when Southern Sun still controlled the express brand in SA.
GregPz October 3rd, 2007, 05:06 PM I hope it hasn't changed much as it looks much better than any other HI Express hotels I've seen.
GregPz October 3rd, 2007, 05:07 PM I've noticed in all the reports I've read that mention is only made of one hotel in Durban. Does that mean the Point one is no more?
dysan1 October 3rd, 2007, 05:46 PM ^^ Not exactly. They have stated that they are developing 4 for now in each of the 4 largest centres, BUT also stated that Durban and Cape Town "would get many more" (those are their exact words).
So i'd say they are doing Umhlanga first and will then look at Point, and i have heard mumblings of Westville near the pavillion
dysan1 October 3rd, 2007, 05:47 PM I hope it hasn't changed much as it looks much better than any other HI Express hotels I've seen.
My feelings too, but they might have a different site or something, i dont know
Durbsboi October 4th, 2007, 09:35 AM Didnt even know the design is changing, maybe if I knew who the architects are I can get some info...... thats if I know the guys.
dysan1 October 4th, 2007, 11:42 AM not saying the design is changing, just saying it may, i dont know :)
