Anyway, I have a story of this beatiful mansion to share.
The name of this mansion is "Phra Tumnak Laksami Vilas" (พระตำหนักลักษมีวิลาศ )
พระนางเธอลักษมีลาวัณ was the owner.
She was murdered in her mansion. The others found her dead 4 days after.

เท่าที่ทราบ และจำได้(จากหนังสือนะคับ และจากคนเล่า ) เสด็จพระนางท่านเป็นคนดี แต่พระทัยร้อน ทรงฉุนเฉียว และทรงโมโหง่าย แต่หายเร็ว ทรงดำรงพระชนม์ชีพ อยู่ภายใต้การเปลี่ยนแปลงต่างๆทั้งการเปลี่ยนแปลงการปกครอง และวัฒนธรรมต่างๆ นอกจากนี้ยังทรงแปลหนังสือภาษาอังกฤษอีกหลายเล่มครับผม

ในสมัย 2504 นั้น ถ.พญาไท และ อนุสาวรีย์ชัยยังเป็นถนนดินอยู่เลยมั้งครับ ท่านถูกคนสวนปลงพระชนม์ ในขณะที่พระองค์กำลังปลูกต้นไม้อยู่ เมื่อพระองค์เงยพระพักตร์ขึ้นมา คนสวนนั้นก็ใช้ชะแลงเหล็กฟาดไปที่หลังพระเศียร(เห็นว่าทรงชักปืนสู้ ) สิ้นพระสติไปทันที (ถ้าจำไม่ผิดท่านถูกฟาดซ้ำลงไปอีก ) คนสวนนั้นก็ลากพระศพไปไว้หลังตำหนัก (บ้างก็บอกว่า ซ่อนพระศพไว้ในตุ่ม ) จากนั้นก็ขึ้นไปบนตำหนัก รื้อค้นเครื่องเพชรได้บางส่วน ได้ตรารัตนาภรณ์และตรามหาจักรี แต่กุญแจตู้เซฟที่เก็บรักษาเครื่องเพชรส่วนใหญ่ไว้หาไม่เจอ

หลังจากนั้นราวๆ เกือบอาทิตย์ มีนักเรียนที่ทรงเคยอุปการะไว้ มาเฝ้า ปรากฎว่า ไม่มีผู้ออกมารับที่ประตู จึงได้ทูลพระญาติ (ราชสกุลวรวรรณ ) พระญาติจึงมาเปิดประตูและพบพระศพ

พระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัว ทรงพระกรุณาโปรดเกล้าให้จัดงานพระศพ เต็มตามพระอิสริยยศ และพระราชทานเพลิงพระศพที่วัดเทพศิรินทราวาศ

ส่วนผู้ร้ายนั้น ได้ตามเจอครับผม และได้ลงโทษประหารชีวิต

ในการพอพระทัยแบบสันโดษนี้เอง ได้เคยมีพระประยูรญาติที่หวังดี เตือนพระสติว่าไม่เป็นการปลอดภัยและเสี่ยงต่อภยันตรายยิ่งนัก แต่ทุกองค์ที่หวังดีกลับได้รับสั่งจากพระนางเธอฯ ว่า “ก็ให้มันรู้ไป ใครจะมาทำพระนางเธอลักษมีลาวัณ บ้านก็อยู่ใกล้กรมทหาร ติดถนนใกล้โรงพักอย่างนี้” พระนางเธอฯ ทรงกล้าหาญเด็ดเดี่ยวไม่ทรงกลัว จึงยิ่งเป็นการเปิดโอกาสให้คนร้ายวางแผนชิงพระราชมรดกนับล้านได้
สำหรับพระราชทรัพย์อันมีค่านั้น พระนางเธอลักษมีลาวัณ ทรงได้รับการแบ่งสรรจากพระราชมรดกในรัชกาลที่ ๖ มีมูลค่ากว่า ๓ ล้านกว่าบาทมีพระสังวาลเพชร และเพชรน้ำหนึ่งขนาดหัวแม่มือนับร้อย พระประยูรญาติที่เคยใกล้ชิดได้ยืนยันชัดเจนว่า ทรงนำมาดัดแปลงเป็นพระมงกุฎครอบพระเศียรเพชร ๒ แถวโดยรอบและยังเหลือทำสร้อยพระศออีกส่วนหนึ่ง

ดูแล้วเป็นงานที่ไม่ดีและไม่เลว รู้สึกเฉยๆ จากภาพรวมที่ดูค่อนข้างแบ่งแยก podium กับ tower ออก และออกแบบไม่ค่อยเข้ากันเท่าไหร่ เหมือนกับออกแบบ podium คนนึง ออกแบบ tower คนนึง แล้วเอามาวางทับกันซะงั้น คิดว่าคนออกแบบคงติดใจกับ dome สยามพารากอนจังนะ :D

The fly-over looks really really concealing and ugly though.

I am so sad when I see the Bangkok students are studying from the vedio tapes.

Then u r too old. Study from tape or study from real teacher is barely different. And perhaps make a tremendous result from VDO-Tuturing system due to more attention student has to pay to the TV screen so distraction from surroundings is almost dissappear. and The atmosphere of the intensed compettion in each rooms even drive us to the point that cannot be failed.
I would say Tuturing from VDO still nessary, and yet not a failure of Thailand's education system like many "adults" who never experienced such the current compettitive highschool-social say it is so.
and I am sure children now comparing at the same age from decades ago, they have tremendously-more knowledge than those "olderlies"..;)

Me my self and many forumers and perhaps most of Thai/Korean/Japanese/Taiwanese/Chinese kids know what I talked about.

^^ New kids are more book smart. Oldies are more street/living smart

Also. It's not like anyone asks questions to to the teachers anyway :D

yes! Education system in Thailand is not successful.

But if you ask me, I am NOT sad to see those tutoring centers.
And I am the one that can be what I am today by studying from VDO tapes for all three years in high school.

For me, studying from VDO tapes is not much different from studing from real teachers.
It's not the case of some "self studying VDOs" (I don't know what's it called.) which the teachers teach the camera man without any students in the room.

For Ajarn Ou case, the activities and environment in the VDO classes are even better than in regular classroom in the school where the Thai students tend to be "quiet and sleepy". In the VDO classes, you will be surprised that most of the students answer and response to the TV.

I love how even our "tutorial schools" are in fancy new buildings. They're the pioneers of education, IMO. I seriously think some of these teachers should be employed by the Ministry of Education to improve our school curriculum nationwide.

Thank you cHemon for pointing this out, it seems obvious that my picture has indeed been used.
Honestly, I don't really mind. Although it would have been fair from them to ask for permission to use the picture, that was not to be expected.
I take these photographs for pleasure, and I'm glad if more people get a chance to see them. I'm not too serious about it.

This building will be officially open on March 1st, so some shops and tutoring schools are still under construction.
Restaurants, food court, and shops are on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 10th floor.
The rest from 4-9th, and 11-15th are tutoring schools, and it's fully occupied now! :eek:
On the 16th floor is Ajarn Ou's penthouse. Too bad I didn't get a chance to see it. ;)

This is Ajarn Ou, the owner of this building.
I met her while she was walking around. She's so nice and spent almost an hour talking to me and told me many things about this building from the history of the old house that used to be here, to the auction day when she got this land, to her future plan for this bulding.

so I asked her to take photos. :D

She told me that there's a plan to contruct a skywalk worth 25 million baht (5 million given to BTSC) linking Phayathai BTS Station to the 3rd floor of her building and also to the Baptist Church just across the road. I still wonder how it's gonna look like because it has to be raised higher than that flyover!!!

I think this skywalk is necessary because once this building is fully open, thousands of students will have to cross the road from BTS station. Nightmare for both pedestrains and cars.

What an update! Generally I prefer highly transparent windows to those reflective ones, it creates a mroe lively facade, but I really like this tower.

So it will generate lots of pedestrian traffic to the area huh? That's great, it will benefit the streetlife and shops between that intersection and the victory monument.

It will be interesting to see how that skywalk turns out.

Chem Ou (or officially, Wannasorn) Siam Square has been closed down.

I try to get some nice shot of Wannasorn building when I have a chance.
They said when the lights turn on, Chem Ou logo will appear on the ceiling and can be seen from outside.

After this building officially open, I noticed significant number of people (mostly young students) using Phayathai BTS station. And there're security guards (hired by Ajarn Ou, it seems) helping those students croosing the road to/from BTS.

One time I saw almost a hundred students who finished the same huge class continueously crossing the road to BTS and waiting to walk up the stairs. It took couple minutes to clear all people from the sidewalk and road. I am sure those drivers would be quite frustrated. :lol:
The Skywalk is badly needed! ;)

I also noticed there're people spill over to the area nearby my condo to find food. Cos, as I heard, the restaurants and food court inside the building could hardly feed thousand s of students during peak hours.

According to Ajarn Ou, all spaces for both tutoring schools and retails are fully occupied. She had to reject many proposals for shops and restaurants because there's no space left. Moreover, there are already few Chester's Coffee in the buidling.
